I don’t think those are good solutions. Just saying, it’s not as simple as rounding all the junkies up and throwing them in prison. We spend a ridiculous amount of $ on our prison population without adding tens of thousands of junkies. It’s a national health crisis and solutions need to come from the very top.

They wouldn’t want to do it indefinitely, but they’d basically have to given recidivism. The reason we don’t mass incarcerate junkies is that it’s incredibly expensive to the state and a massive liability.

I’d vote for anyone who could actually fix this problem. But the libs have bad solutions and cons have no solutions. The state doesn’t want to assuming responsibility for the housing and medical / mental healthcare if tens of thousands of junkies indefinitely.
