  1. What to make of all of this? Anyone who knows anything else about this situation?? My take is that they will give Adrian Peterson 10-15 touches the first start until they feel 100% confident in his recovery.. so that they don't over work him... about 10-15 touches for Toby Gerrhart give or take a few.. and 5-10 extra touches for Percy Harvin as well thoughts?

    Tim Tebow

Alright, I was doing the numbers on this guy and if you look at his last three games of the season... Week 15 138 PaYDs, 1 Pass Td, 0 int, 8 rushes for 78 yds, 1 RuTD= My leagues scoring 24.7 FFP Week 16 308 PaYDs, 1 Pass Td, 1 int, 10 rushes for 27 yds, 1 RuTD= My leagues scoring 26.1 FFP Week 17 205 PaYDs, 2 Pass Td, 2 int, 13 rushes for 94 yds, 1 RuTD= My leagues scoring 29.6 FFP Now if you were to use those three starts as a basis for the regular season minding the fact that those games were against Oakland (#2 against the pass (189.2yds/game, #11 overall), Houston (#30 overall), and San Diego (#1 against the pass (177.8yds/game, #1 overall in yardage) I'd say those are pretty fair defenses to estimate his overall numbers over the course of the year... A rough estimate if Tebow lands the starting job we are looking at At least the top 10, he scored a rushing td in every start he had, now of course teams are going to game plan for him if this is the case as well.. so we'll drop his numbers to more realistic looking numbers but still account for the fact that he is a "Gamer" and he is going to run the ball on average 8-10 times a game.. maybe a little less as the season progresses Right now this is all speculation of course... but my guess is he gets the starting job.. and could be one of the biggest sleepers of the year Rough Estimate 3300 Pass Yds, 21 PassTds, 16int 700 yds rushing, 9 rush tds That is at the low end of Tebow's average from last season.. by a lot on the rushing side of things. because the numbers he averaged last year were ridiculous.. they were more like 995 yds rushing and 12-15 tds throughout the course of a full season so with those realistic numbers i think.. that puts him at around 341 FFP.. which would put right behind Aaron Rodgers!! FF today has him at 253 FFP, which I think is a bit low because they estimated his rushing numbers at only 375yds and 3tds... and last year in a little more than 3 games played... he had 201 rushing yards and 4tds I want to know what everyone thinks about this guy.. at the very least keep him on your radar.. watch what happens in Denver.. and see how he does in the pre-season.. his ability to run the ball makes him have HUGE potential

Who scores first? Julio Jones or Mark Ingram

Yea I agree... and against the Bears he had 5 receptions for 71 yards.. and did just as good as Roddy White did against the Eagles sick secondary... I think he blows up this week.. they have been trying to get the ball to him a ton because he is a "playmaker"

Carolina Panthers #2 in Total Offense?

yea i am sure the running game will get better, and thanks Captain Obvious for the bold statements... Cam Newton will obviously not continue to be the leading rusher on the team, they just weren't able to run very well the first two games because like i said they were stacking 8 in the box... and when the RB's start running better... let me ask you this... wouldn't that make the offense better?? how on earth does that make the offense worse???
  5. could you have ever have guessed that one?? lol ... i know they will most likely come back down to earth... but damn you have to sit back and say WOW!...because of one guy this team is completely different on offense. 2nd only to the ridiculous New England Patriots who are nearly 100 yards ahead of everyone else.. and i find it somehow ironic that after some of San Diego's coaching staff went to the Panthers they are sitting right above the Chargers themselves in total offense... that ladies and gentleman is why the QB is the most important position in football... and leaves the question for the day.. with Carolina's new "Toy" in Cam Newton.. revamped offense with the additions of Shockey/Olsen/Nanee.. and a new coaching staff that has taken a lot of San Diego's offensive/defensive mindset with them..... is it realistic to believe that the Panthers can finish in the top 10??

Carolina Panthers #2 in Total Offense?

I completely disagree with this... Cam Newton is the sole reason the offense has been this good, sure he will not throw 400 yards ever game that is a given..... they have run the ball and will get better as the season goes on...they have also won the time of possession battle in both games thus far Week 1 Time Of Pos. Carolina 32:47 27 rush, 37 pass; Arizona 27:13 25 rush, 27 pass Week 2 Time Of Pos. Carolina 32:34 21 rush, 46 pass Green Bay 27:26 21 rush, 30 pass Carolina has won the time of posession battle by over 5 minutes in each of the first two games. Carolina has more rushing attemtps than their opponents. Cam moving the ball keeps the clock moving, two yard run plays don't.. and I don't see their philosophy changing too much... we all knew Green Bay was going to intercept him a couple of times, and plus i am sure the Panthers were aware that beating Green Bay was a long shot anyways... and they were playing from behind for most of the game I think vs the Jags this week we will continue to see a very similar offensive game plan...when you are moving the ball that well you really do not start changing things, especially if you are running a pretty balanced offense and are winning the possession battle... not to mention they have had to put the ball in his hands because the running game hasn't been effective at all because teams are stacking 8 in the box.. what is better to run the ball up the middle for 2 yards, or throw the ball with your QB who can make plays?? until defenses give them something different they will continue to throw the ball, and from Cam has shown he can do, why would they get away from big passing plays even when they run the ball a little bit more??? The biggest thing the Panthers need to do is get a better defense...as long as they get behind all year they will continue to throw that much

    Dexter McCluster

THIS the guy simply has value because you can put him as a WR on your fantasy roster... plus there is the potential that he becomes pretty fantasy relevant getting around 10-15 touches per game with Charles out... and like mentioned above adds value if your league rewards points for return yards as well

    Cam Newton vs. Packers

70 plus yds on the first drive and a TD so much for the debate

Who is starting Cam Newton this week?

I am starting him over Josh Freeman vs Minnesota... four reasons i am doing this 1. I have Josh Freeman vs Minnesota... and honestly that doesn't excite me..it really isn't that much better of a match-up... he was boring to watch last week.. and I feel like Cam Newton has a lot more weapons on offense than Freeman does 2. I am going to the Panthers vs. Packers game so needless to say, that makes it exciting.. and he was so much fun to watch last week 3. I drafted him with confidence unlike many in the 13th round in both of my drafts... I thought about starting him last week, and i decided to take the safe approach and it cost me 20 points...and the idea of starting him vs Green Bay is "ballzy" I know this.. and I want to see what this guy is made of this week... if he does well this week.. not only will everyone be talking about him, but he will be a must-start over a lot of QB's in the league in FF because of his ability to run.. so why not find out now when i have mediocre Josh Freeman 4. The rest of my team has great match-ups and i feel like i can afford a dud from Cam Newton... plus I know regardless of how well he passes the ball he is going to run when he is under pressure.. and I have a feeling that he will break off a big run while i am at the stadium watching not to mention he just said this on ESPN... and I think he is handling the pressure of this game very well... Cam said "he's goes into each game being coachable, and he knows that the great players show up when their team needs them" so why not?!?! Plus this is pretty interesting...
  10. On ESPN NFL Live.. they just said that Amendola is trying to play this Sunday, and is waiting for a Doctor to tell him "NO!".... anyone have any insight into this??

    I want Tebow! Orton Sucks!

I have to agree with Collinsworth... I was never a Gators fan, but Tebow is a gamer... he will never practice well because practice doesn't count... when the game starts though, he is the type of guy that gets fired up and starts playing his heart out and he is a winner... he will get an opportunity at some point, whether it is through a trade or something.. and when he does.. I truly believe the Broncos will be like "Why did we never play this guy?"
  12. I put together some numbers based on Opinions I have gathered on forums... and came up with these numbers as "Very Realistic" Numbers for Cam Newton this year... 2832 Pass Yds 13 Pass TD's 16 Interceptions which I believe are very realistic... 704 Rush Yds 7 Rush TD's which I believe are also very realistic after watching every Pre-season game with him this year That gave him 277.7 Fantasy Points which he would have been ranked at #10 Overall QB from last year!!... Rushing Yards are worth 2x as much in my league and add to the overall consistancy of a QB in fantasy football because a running QB is more likely to use his feet when he can't do anything with his arm (where Passing only QB's will put up a few duds every year)...I don't think we put enough emphasis on running QB's at what they can do for "Consistancy", which is more important than the end of the year points in my opinion... a guy like Cam Newton although his passing statistics are rookie like and tend to keep most people away, YOU CANNOT IGNORE HIS RUSHING NUMBERS.. the value of a QB in Fantasy Football that runs like he does (VICK like abilities and more durable) makes his value sky rocket, and he can be more than a mesely bye week filler, but a guy who can give you a potentially huge game when you have a bad matchup/injury/bye-week SIMPLY because of his rushing numbers as well as around 15-20 FPG which in my opinion gives his potential more value because of the importance of Consistancy from week to week... DYNASTY/KEEPER get him on your roster in every league.. could lead you to FUTURE championships once he learns how to be an NFL QB...which he will... he has the work ethic of a ####### mule and Athletic Ability unlike anything we have ever seen in this league REDRAFT- might be worth a roster sport once we watch him play a few games... really this guy has HUGE UPSIDE as a QB #2 like the post says and you can get him for next to nothing now... I wouldn't be suprised to see Waiver Wire pick-ups go crazy for him after a few weeks..

Cam Newton... Let's take a closer look

Thanks KSB... I really think the guy has all the tools to be a Great QB in this league.. and definitely is fantasy relevant this year.. as he proved in Week 1 Now the real challenge will be to see how he does vs Green Bay this weekend.. with a Great Defensive Coordinator and one of the Top Defenses in the league.. I am going to the game.. Should be a lot of fun!! I'll say this too.. the guy was one of the most exciting QB's I have ever watched.. when he was in the game everyone was "Glued" to the television.. because you didn't know what he was going to do... and he threw an absolute beautiful deep ball 5 or 6 times ... was threading the needle all game, and made a lot of "Mature" QB decisions... it was almost unreal to watch... not to mention about 3 or 4 times he was an ankle tackle away from breaking off a 20-40 yard run... If anyone has NFL network.. i would definitely recommend watching the game to see it for yourself when they replay it

    My Randy Moss prediction

Yea I am sure that is what Revis thinks too after Moss burned him with a one handed catch for 40yds... i am sure that is exactly what he said.. because he apparently is in the "prime" of his career so that would make a lot of sense You don't lose speed like Randy Moss has in a year...he is still faster than the majority of players in this league.. when it comes to running a Fly route... and still an incredible Redzone target with amazing hands... in other words.. still VERY USEFUL to a team in the playoff hunt...

    Chicago WR's

Earl Bennett is the guy this year.. why does this question keep coming up?? The Slot receiver in Martz offense is arguably the most important....and Martz still plans to use him outside.. the slot receiver in that offense is the go to guy on 3rd down passing plays... again also the guy Cutler trusts most, who has learned the offense better than anyone besides Cutler.. and Martz has gone on record multiple times saying "Earl Bennett will be getting the ball a lot more next season" “We didn’t throw it to him enough. That will be remedied. He will figure in a much larger role than he did last year. He came to us late. He was injured. I wasn’t really sure where he was with all the stuff. But he established himself as a guy who needs to get a lot more balls than he did. He’s extremely reliable. I know Jay feels comfortable with him in the slot doing some of those things,. But he should be able to play outside for us as well.” - Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz on Earl Bennett Read old forum post about Earl Bennett http://forums.footba... and Great Article http://mattwaldmanrs...r-earl-bennett/

    C.J. Spiller

This guy was amazing to watch in college.. I remember thinking he'll make a hell of an exciting runner to watch in the pro's... what has happened? Why can't he take atleast 50% of the carries away from "Average" Fred??

    Dallas Clark

A poster in another forum said it best... so i'll quote him It will hurt all Indy's receivers. Manning throws with timing and trusts these guys to be in spots. That's something Collins will never be able to replicate in such a short period of time. I think the YAC really goes down for these guys because of this. Also since I assume Collins wouldn't audible like Manning does, there will be less sustained drives, so less possessions, less opportunities. Collins also doesn't have Manning's grasp of the offense or quick release/pocket presence. More sacks, maybe even keeping Clark into block more. No matter how you slice it, it looks like Clark's numbers go down if Manning is out. It will definitely hurt his value... and mainly his "Consistancy" if Manning is out for 4-5 weeks... Yeah, it may be a simple question and a valid one but the answer is obvious. Losing Manning will HURT Clarks fantasy production. It's not the check downs but the laser show :excited: precision bullets down the field where Manning hits Clark on a dead run... those will be less frequent due to losing a perennial All Pro QB. This is the biggest thing... even if the offense does get "rolling" with Collins.. you'd have to think Clark will mostly be used for check-downs until Manning gets back

    Josh Freeman

I don't understand.. I heard so much about this guy coming into this season.. it is like he was the first guy that everyone hyped about.. so he is old news or something... This kid looks like a superstar when he plays and is definitely the "Real Deal" ... i am a Panthers fan and he has whooped up on us for the past two years.. now grant it we haven't been all that great, but regardless Tampa Bay was crap until he came around... He went from 2009 10 games played Averaged 185 pass yd/game, 16 rush yds/game... 10 TD and 18 int (had a huge Interception problem in college) 2010 16 games played Averaged 215 pass yd/game, 23 rush yds/game... 25 TD and 6 int (that is a huge improvement for someone with a problem in only half a season of being the starter) 2011 16 games played Averages 235 pass yd/game, 22 rush yds/game... 27 TD and 11 int ... with 3-5 Rushing TD's what makes us think he can't improve more this year??? That is 3760 Pass Yds, 27 TD, 11 ints, 352 rush yds, 4 rush TD's (the guy is bound to get to "Pay dirt" a few times this season.. just doesn't make sense that he hasn't scored yet) That would make him borderline Top 5 QB in my league... 333.2 Fantasy Points ((that would have been #4 in our scoring last year))

I pissed some guys off at my draft last night

Agreed.. that is a little thing I like to call "Good Karma"... help out a friend genuinely.. and be rewarded with A.Gates in the 4th round

Cam Newton... Let's take a closer look

Yea i agree.. I definitely do not think this is something you want to roll the dice with early on in the season.. I am saying by the 2nd half of the season I really believe we will see remarkable improvement from this guy, and a bye-week filler definitely worth the roster sport in keeper/dynasty leagues
  21. DeaLerZ

Cam Newton... Let's take a closer look

I know this guy is a rookie.. but I really think he has athletic ability that we have never seen before in this league.. he is like a monster at QB who can run with the speed of a running back and the power of a Full-back... I know his passing will mostly likely be nothing worth mentioning that is a given.. but based on his sheer athletic ability I think he can really put up a few nice games this year where he runs wild.... In the 4 pre-season games I watched you could tell he was working on his pocket passing skills and getting his timing down with his receivers.. their were plenty of plays that he easily could have ran for 15 or 20 yards, but chose not too... and in only one half of action he had great numbers for a QB that runs 18 yds, 49 yds TD, and 19yds.. plus you cannot tell me the Panthers don't have some designed running plays for him... I really think a guy that throws for 2800 yds, 30 TD's, and 7 Int in his last year at college to go along with 1,400 yds rushing a 5.6 average and not to mention (263 carries, which is a full load for a RB)... and 20 rushing TD's.. has huge potential especially at his size 6'6" 250 lbs to do things we have never seen before in this league
  22. DeaLerZ

    Josh Freeman

I hate that argument.... YOU DON'T take out any 5 TD games because that means he is capable of doing that.... I agree completely.. He is a great NFL QB... and it remains to be seen how good of a Fantasy QB he is.. but he was #7 in scoring in our league last year...and I think he can improve on last years numbers

    Reggie Bush Update

When asked about Reggie Bush Tuesday, coach Tony Sparano said, "I would think he's going to have the most touches and the most carries." This is mere confirmation after Daniel Thomas face-planted in his rookie training camp. Bush is going to start and be the primary runner in the early part of the season. We're skeptical that he'll be able to sustain health and effectiveness in that role, but with 16-20 touches weekly Bush figures to be a PPR asset. Aug 30 - 12:04 PM Per Rotoworld Now if he can just stay healthy he will be huge in PPR leagues this year.. the Dolphins always have a good running game
