    Gardener Geeks....

Are you sure about that? Everything I read on the label says the killer chemicals are only active for 24-48 hours. Also, these focking morning glory seeds get every where. It's impossible to simply pull them out by hand. I think you do more damage pulling them out than if you spray them with a herbicide.

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

I've spent the first 15 years of my adult life as a registered voter without ever getting a jury duty summons. Today I just got my 3rd one in the last 5 years. Isn't there supposed to be some kind of limit to the amount of times you can be called for this? I'm down with fulfilling my civic duty and all, but 3 times seems a little excessive.

Albert Pujols for Ryan Howard trade?

Ugghh....I've already rooned my taste for one sport with too many fantasy stats, I'm not about to do it to my favorite. My neighbor is in some fantasy league where he drafts Single A minor league players, and to me, that's just nuts.

Albert Pujols for Ryan Howard trade?

Is this for fantasy, or a real live stat?

    UhOh, countdown to meltdown

Sounds like they'll need a place to live. Well guess what? The US has a shitload of Pacific islands that they need to unload....and we're in need of some cash. Remember, never let a good crisis go to waste.

The NFL and Player's Union Discussion Thread

I'm trying to be on the players' side, but..... Slave labor???? AP: It's modern-day slavery, you know? People kind of laugh at that , but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money … the owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money. I understand that; these are business-minded people. Of course this is what they are going to want to do. I understand that; it's how they got to where they are now. But as players, we have to stand our ground and say, 'Hey — without us, there's no football.' There are so many different perspectives from different players, and obviously we're not all on the same page — I don't know. I don't really see this going to where we'll be without football for a long time; there's too much money lost for the owners. Eventually, I feel that we'll get something done. This whole thing is simply a case of "someone's making more money than me, and that's not fair." Some owners are in it to make money and some are in it to win. I seriously doubt that any players in the NFL signed their contracts under duress. Why do they care how much the owners are making? Note: I realize this is a simplistic, retarded view of the situation, but........come on. Seriously - slavery?

Albert Pujols for Ryan Howard trade?

I don't think the Reds have any intention on keeping him after his contract is up. He'll be overpriced just like Howard and Pujols are now.

Albert Pujols for Ryan Howard trade?

His name is Votto, and he doesn't get blotto. Good luck with your overpriced first basemen.

Link I'm not sure who's more ghey - the 13 year old boy for selling candles, or his ghey/pedophile customers that buy them.

Teen in U.S. charged in death of family hamster

A friend of mine used to own a snake, and every so often he'd go to the pet store and by live chickens and mice for the snake to eat. It was clear to everyone involved that they were being purchased so that they would be killed by the snake. How is tossing a rodent that you purchased at the pet store out the window different than feeding it to your snake?

    Carson Palmer Question

I don't think he's worth as much as he's getting, but when you consider the likely teams that would bid for him, he may be worth it. Teams like ARI and SF would certainly pay the salary, but I don't think they would be willing to give what the Bengals would demand for Palmer. Remember, the Bengals turned down the Saints offer of all their draft picks for the #3 spot and instead drafted Akili Smith. Short of another team taking on the entire Bengals' team salary, I don't see any scenario where the Bengals give in and trade Palmer. That just isn't how Mike Brown rolls.

    Carson Palmer Question

I thought that too, but I'd heard that during the Favre situation. Favre was only signing 1 or 2 year deals at the time. I'm fairly certain that the Bengals retain the rights of Palmer for the remainder of his contract.

    "bush, his cronies, halliburton!"

...and it's rarin' to hit $5 this year. So when evil big oil keeps up with their standard 10% profit margin and again pulls in record profits, do we still blame the usual suspects, or can we start blaming Obama and his cronies?

How would you expand a 10 team keeper to 12

A few years ago 3 owners in my keeper league were pushing for expansion but we found there was no easy way to do it. The main complaints from the nay sayers were: Messing with the draft order - it's determined by the previous year's standings so where to insert the new guys? Losing keeper players to other teams - nobody liked that Less talent on the waiver wire The only reason to expand from the yay sayers was "Most leagues have at least 12 teams and my buddy wants in." The nays outweighed the yays so I scrapped the idea. If you like it the way it is, why change it?

What if you were in charge of "reviving" the NFL Pro-Bowl

There's really nothing that can be done to make the game any less crappy. I'd like to see something like a Ryder Cup type weekend where a bunch of different competitions are played over a few days that add up to an overall "win" for either conference. FG kicking, passing accuracy, weight lifting....almost like a scouting combine.

    Kudos to Mark Buehrle...

I see what you're saying, and I commend Buehrle for not backing down. He's got a right to his opinion and it's also cool that the White Sox organization isn't issuing a statement denouncing his comments or anything like that. However, wishing injury on someone never works out well.

Bob Sanders - Released by Colts

"injuries limited him to only nine regular-season appearances over the next three seasons." He's a fine player when healthy, but, good lord - to only be available for 9 out of 51 weeks? Can you do weekly contracts in the NFL?

    Kudos to Mark Buehrle...

I'm not a hunter, but I think the difference is that when you shoot a deer, the plan is to kill it ASAP and then prepare it for eating. You're not shooting it on a bet just so you can watch it die, and then throw it in the trash or just leave it there to rot.

an extremely thorough study of Cam Newton, QB

That workout video of his was sick. Depending on what happens with Carson Palmer's situation, I'd imagine the Bungles will take a hard look at Newton. So far, I've liked everything I've seen. That QB "guru" from San Diego absolutely raves about Newton. If Jay Gruden can transfer his electric offenses to the NFL, Newton could do some good things with the Bungles.

Judge Smells is going to have a fit

I John Daly. He's a big, fat, drinking, smoking character that always swings out of his shoes. What's not to love? I heard a story about him where he had a pallet full of Miller Lite transported with his clubs over to Dubai. He's my hero. How can you not love this guy?
  25. "These missions are included in the annual operating budget of all branches of the military and they are used as training," Mike Maus, deputy public affairs officer for the Naval Air Force's Atlantic division told CNBC. "There was no additional money provided to us, Congress did not cut us a special check to do this flyover. This is considered a training mission whether they were to fly over the Super Bowl or not." I watched some show a while back that corroborates this. Basically, they are going to be flying anyway, so all they do is divert the path over the stadium. I don't have a problem with it. In fact, I appreciate it. During the Bengals home opener last September, I was coaching my son's t-ball game and we had to stop playing because the 3 F-18s that just flew over Paul Brown Stadium flew right over our field at what seemed like a thousand feet. The kids were covering their ears and going crazy over how cool it was.
