  1. I love Ronald Reagan and all, but that whole deal has always irked me. I'll admit I don't know all the details, but releasing the hostages within 20 minutes of the inauguration was a little over the top. I've always wondered why that doesn't appear as a black mark on Reagan's presidency. If I was one of those hostages, I'd be pretty pissed off at Reagan for making me wait even one second longer.

    Post your favorite G&R vid

If I recall correctly, weren't a bunch of those non-sensical Use Your Illusion videos supposed to culminate into some type of "oh, now I get it" moment? I think it was November Rain, Estranged, and maybe one or two other songs. Whatever songs they were, I never figured out the premise. Regardless, the best GnR song and video is, and always will be Paradise City.

Pennsylvania judge blocks Voter ID law

Federal law requires all males to identify themselves and register with Selective Service by their 18th birthday or face 5 years in prison and a $250k fine. If you can ID yourself then, why cant you ID yourself when you vote?

Pennsylvania judge blocks Voter ID law

How do you even get through everyday life without a photo ID? This issue comes up every year now, so it's not like you haven't had ample time to get an ID. Just go get a focking ID and make your life easier all the way around.

House passes "Buffett Rule". Tear your ass, Warren.

So...rich libs CAN actually pay more in taxes if they choose to do so. I guess they where just waiting for a new law to show them the way. Maybe they should call this the "put up or STFU" rule.

Traditional ways of stopping smoking don't help.

Ban cigarettes and double triple the tax on alcohol sales. Both are bad for you and others - what's the difference?

No wonder the Washington Redskins suck

The Redsskins haven't had a winning season since 1491.

    Illinois raises taxes on cigarettes...

We're the goose that keeps on giving... a small minority that pays out the wazoo for everything from healthcare to highways, yet still shunned as ignorant malcontents that drain the nations healthcare economy. Think of how many programs are funded by increased cigarette taxes, then try to figure out where the tax money would come from without it. If you anti-smoking fockers hate it so much, why don't you contact your congress rep and find out why he/she doesn't support a measure that outright bans smoking anywhere in the USA. Why don't you fockers leave us smokers alone and start ragging on drunk drivers for a change? I can't remember the last time I've heard of an increased alcohol tax.

    Interesting stat about Joey Votto

Boggs is the player that immediately came to my mind as well. It'll be nice when/if Votto can get to the point where "if he doesn't swing, it's a ball." Also, Votto 3/5 tonite, batting .360
  10. I think anyone that is looking for Manning to step right in and turn the Broncos into the Colts v.2 will be sadly mistaken. It took years to develop the cohesiveness that the Manning/Harrison/Wayne had. It was like they were all sharing the same brain. I predict a lot of INTs, and a lot of those goofy WTF stare-downs to the WR from Manning. Just as a personal rule, I don't draft the same players a year after they focked me hard, and Manning will be no exception.
  11. Word is that it only takes an extra 2 hours or so to cook the bird from frozen solid. http://busycooks.about.com/od/thanksgiving/a/cookfrozenturke.htm Since the wifey picked up 3 frozen turkeys this year, and I have zero leftovers, I figured this is my chance to "sacrifice" one. I love me some turkey, but it's always been a pain in the ass thawing it out. If this works, it'll be focking awesome.

I'm going to try cooking a frozen turkey tomorrow

Turned out pretty well. Not great, but not horrible. All I did was grease up the broiler pan, then cut open the frozen turkey wrap and away it went. 6 hrs later @ 325 I had a fine looking turkey measuring at 177 degrees. I was expecting a lot less, so all in all I'd call it a success.

iPhone 4S vs Samsung Galaxy S2

I had some of that remorse as well. But I don't think it was due to the phone, it's because I'm now locked into a freakin contract again. I'd gone almost a year without one, and it was kind of a nice feeling not having that anchor. Oh well, it's like getting a brand new car, I guess.

I ordered 2 of the Samsungs yesterday from Amazon. Total charged to my card - $0.02

Uncharted is kind of like Indiana Jones, isn't it?

iPhone 4S vs Samsung Galaxy S2

Strangely, I was going to post a similar thread. I'm a wireless "free agent" looking to leave Verizon right now, and I think I've settled on AT&T. According to the reviews I've read, the Samsung is as good, if not better than the IPhone. -12 hours of talk time. -You can change the battery -You can upgrade the memory -It's only a penny The wife seems to be stuck on the lack of slide out qwerty keyboard, but seems to me you pretty much need to get a blackberry for that.
  17. I would argue that DSTs are not totally random now, they just require a little more skill in deciding which one to go with from week to week. Gone are the days when you can just draft the Ravens or Steelers and assume you'll get stellar points every week. It's now a legitamate position that you have to study each week.

    Waiver Process

It's a habit now, but when I first started it, it was a pain in the arse because I'd keep forgetting to change the setting. If I'd forget to change it from add/drop to FAAB, owners would start picking up players on Tuesday morning all wily nily. I'd have to back out all those transactions and return it to normal. That sucked because everyone else then knew what players the owners were going after that week and would then bid accordingly. Granted, it was my mistake for not changing the setting, but you'd think that owners wouldn't assume that the rules of acquiring players changed over the weekend and they simply didn't get the email.

Update to player targets for weeks 14 - 16

"My sleeper defense would be Seattle." "Downgrades: Dallas passing offense, Dallas Defense, CJ Spiller, SEA defense"

    Waiver Process

I'm on CBS, and we do a FAAB/Free for all hybrid. Each team starts the season with 250 auction dollars. On Tuesday, each owner can use their dollars to bid on players. At 9am Wednesday morning after the auction has occurred, I switch from "FAAB" to "Allow owners to do add/drops". Each owner can get more dollars by doing the League Pick'em. Your total amount of correct picks gets added to your auction dollar account(up to $15 per week). So, if you blow your entire wad early on the flaver of the day that doesn't pan out, you still have a chance to earn some "money" and get back into it. On the other hand, you can hoard all your cash till the end of the season and assure yourself that you'll be able to outbid everyone else when it really matters come playoff time. You can also include bid dollars in trades to help balance it out. (ie: Player A was traded for Player B+ and "cash"). Been doing this process for about 4 years with zero complaints.

How would you handle this as commissioner of your league?

The good thing about not having roster limits, is that when owners decide to hoard up on one position, it usually leaves them weak at another. To me, the most fun thing in FF is making trades and finding WW gems. Hoarding players generally leads to more trade activity. As far as WW gems, one of the best feelings you can have is when an owner decides to hoard RBs in an effort to cockblock his opponent, only for the opponent to pick up some scrub at the last minute that goes off for 253 and a TD. Cockblocking RB hoarder - Savvy WW player - ETA: Your rule also doesn't take multiple injuries into account. What if an owner has a RB on BYE, McFadden and Bradshaw as their RB's? Under your rule, they would be forced to cut one or start only one RB in order to comply.

How would you handle this as commissioner of your league?

This may be the most communist leaning league I've ever heard of. I've always thought roster position limits were dumb, but I'd never heard of roster minimums. Seriously, what is your logic behind forcing a team to carry 2 kickers and 2 defenses at all times?

    Cowboys release T.Choice

It's like the fantasy gods said, "Great job on snatching up Murray. We bestow upon you 256 and a TD, as well as quashing his main competition for carries. Carry on and collect mad points." Right on.

How Many RBS Do You Have

I once held onto that belief, but (especially) in PPR leagues the WR's are always a dime-a-dozen and tend to compensate for the lack of RB's. You need to consider roster space as a value. Keeping a bunch of scrub RB's with the hope that a starter goes down comes at a premium. And, you need to consider the fact that the rest of your league mates will be pissed off at you, due to your obvious hoarding of RB's and they won't want to trade out of spite.

    Nicks vs White

If White hadn't forgot to clip his fingernails Sunday morning, you'd be singing a different tune. (He barely caught that TD pass). White and Ryan aren't even close to putting up the numbers that most expected. And when you consider that Ryan gets hit like every other play, it's likely to get worse - not better. Right now, I'd take Nicks every day of the week.
