Roster Slots - weigh in please

Good thoughts. So basically a lineup of 1 qb, 5-6 flex spots, and a defense would be an example.
  2. I'm a long time commissioner and each year I evaluate our rules to see what is in the best interest of our league. I take in feedback from all my owners and implement things from time to time. Our current roster rules are 1qb, 2 rb, 2wr, 1te, 2 flex(rb/wr/te) and 1 def. -- Some in our league want to move to 3 WRS and to PPR (Currently at .5 ) - I feel both of those are too big a jump and I'm a believer in smaller incremental changes. That said, I'm open to many ideas. Have thought about changing 1 flex to rb/wr and the 2nd flex to wr/te. That would give teams the ability to start up to 4 WRs if they choose. Also , would prevent teams from starting 4 RBs. Some of this comes from the auction prices where RBS are going in the 50-80 dollar range so the thought is that these changes would reduce RB value. Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Roster Slots - weigh in please

The more I think about it, the less inclined I am to change scoring. I'm leaning toward increase the RB supply by reducing the max position limit and lineup. Currently we allow 6 Rbs on a roster and because they get injured more often than WRs do, owners load up on them. I'm thinking that maybe going with 2 rb and 3 wr and no flexes in combination with reducing the position limit from 6 to 4 may be the way to go.

That's true for sure. Of course, in some formats, you can do 1 PPR for WR/TE and .5 PPR for RB. So that's a consideration. I've never really liked full PPR. I think that's too much value to a reception. because not all receptions are equal. Another idea I had was bonus points for 1st down receptions.

10 team league. Maybe 2-3 owners. Most owners in our league don't really care one way or another when it comes to rule changes. But that's not really the point. When considering rule changes, I want to weigh the pros and cons so I want to get feedback from different people.

True, not attempting to emphasize WR as much as deemphasize RB. In other words, under my idea they can start 3 RBs max.

how to setup for no roster position limits

Hey Mike, I know this is a 11 year old post, but nothing has changed re: the position limits correct? That is, DB will not prevent teams from exceeding max limits.
  8. I noticed the nomination order is defaulting to serpentine. Any way to change this?

    draft results by round

Had our draft last nite. Everyone was envious of my draft buddy. While everyone had thick stacks of paper spread out, I was doing nothing but point click point click!!! Totally loved it!! I made total use of the draft by team tab, cheatsheat tab, sortable name inputs, past statistics grid. Thanks for the great product!! The only problem Ive had is that my draft by round tab only populated up until halfway thru the 15th round. One other thing, I couldn't find Dorsey Levens in my drop down. Am I blind, or is he not in there?

    Auction Newbie Need help

We are switching to auction for the first time and I'm wondering if some of our current rules are relevant and if so, how best to police them. For example, we have always had minimum and maximum position limits. In other words, in the snake draft, you were forced to draft a defense and/or kicker. My question, is it just better to not have any limits and let people draft until their money runs out (without exceeding the roster max of course) or stick to our current rules? If we stick with them, how do you police this, specifically the minimum position requirement? I can see a situation where a guy has a dollar left, but hasn't drafted a defense or a tight end.
  13. Thanks for the solution. I've had no issues with updating the file on my windows laptop and then sending over to my mac. The error only pertains to updating rankings and not actual draft operation correct?

    Run Time Error

When I try to update the projections, I'm getting the following error. Run-timer error ‘1004’: Unable to open https://www.fftoday.com/draftbuddy/update19/adp_ffc_ppr.htm Cannot locate the internet server or proxy server.
  15. Using Excel for Mac and do not have IE on this machine. Do you know what to do if Chrome is the default browser?

what about for Chrome? I don't have IE
  17. We are doing our first auction draft this season. We also have keepers. A team can keep 3 but will have a value assigned to each that counts against their auction budget of $200.00. The auction is new for us and I’m a little unsure about auction values. There are obviously many websites that offer AAV lists/calculators, and I’m wondering if it is a bad idea to provide an official AAV list to our league members for the purpose of determining the value of their keepers pre-draft. In other words, would this be akin to providing draft cheat sheets to everyone in a standard serpentine selection draft? Will it screw up our auction? Is it better to let everyone fend for themselves like they would in a normal draft?

    Average Auction Value Question

    Thanks everyone. All good suggestions.

    Average Auction Value Question

Yes, we are going to give a discount for keepers. Something like 10%. And your suggestion about going off a site ranking is what I'm leaning towards. But if I do that, then it's like I'm giving everyone a cheat sheet. Having said that, how much does it matter because once players are bid on in real time, then the values start changing for other players. At least that's my understanding. So basically, everyone will know the starting point because of the AAV list provided to everyone, but to then everyone fends for themselves anyway once the auction gets going. Does this make sense or am I missing something here.
  20. I am the Commish in a keeper league. Next year we are increasing our keepers to 5 and moving from snake draft to auction draft. I lean toward keepers counting against the $200 auction budget. My question is, how do you determine the dollars a keeper cost? Would I use an Average Auction Value list from some fantasy site?

    ADP adjustment

So in my keeper league, we have 23 players already slotted to draft picks. As a result, the ADP for the remaining players are a little skewed. Would I be able to manually adjust ADPs so I have more clear predictor when a player might go off the board or any other suggestion?

    Keepers without draft slotting

OMG you think of everything! Thanks! That worked.
  23. In the past weve had 1 keeper per year and the keeper was slotted as the 1st round pick for the owner. This year weve added more keepers and the way our league works, some are slotted as draft picks and others are not. (we have a complex free agency system with weird compensation etc). So on the keeper tab Ive entered the keepers for each team and some of those are slotted as draft picks. For those that arent, I simply did not select a draft pick from the drop down box. However, this means the players that do not have draft picks associated with them do not show up on the roster tab. Only those who have a draft selection slotting are showing up there. Is there any workaround to this without having to assign draft picks to certain keepers in order to accommodate our unique situation?
