    Brees owner suicide watch thread

I agree that the Colts D looked pretty good last night but...NO didn't attack their run defense enough. How many carries between Deuce and Reggie, 22? That's not nearly enough. Typically teams have beat the Colts by pounding it out on the ground and limiting the time Manning has to dissect them with their precise passing game. NO went for the shoot out and I think that was a big mistake considering how fast (small) the Colts D is. I suspect that teams WILL test that supposedly fixed run defense to see how fixed it really is. NO definitely did not do that!

Who will be this years Frank Gore?

I wouldn't call him Frank Gore but I like Adrian Peterson to be a major player for the Vikes this year.

*** '07 Player Projections By NFL Team ***

As a Jags fan I will be the first to admit that while I'm a fan of Lefty's toughness however, his lack of mobility is always a concern but if given time he can definitely get the ball there in a hurry. Part of the problem last year was the inability for receivers to hang onto the ball once it got there. That being said with some minor tweaks to the offensive line, a contract year and several qb's hot on his trail I expect Leftwich to have a breakout season. He could easily put up over 3,200 to 3,400 yards with a 25 to 28 TD season. The offense has been modified to utilize the TE's more which should help him to get rid of the ball quicker thus helping to minimize the pressure. I think this will be big years for the Jags TE's and dump offs to Fred and Drew. I expect the numbers to decrease for both Fred and Drew until the passing game can actually hurt a team. I expect teams to concentrate on stopping the run first and passing game second. Until this happens I would temper my expectations. That being said, adding Greg Jones to the mix will hurt their carries and TD's some. I would project MJD to get 800 to 850 yards rushing and 300 to 350 receiving and Fred to break the 1000 yard mark again (barely) with about 200 yards receiving. MJD's TD's will drop off some and he'' wind p with 10 total and Fred will chip in about 5. The wild card will be Jones and I suspect that he'll vulture several. WR's are a crap shoot. I have a feeling that Jones or Williams will get cut this year. For some reason I'm leaning toward Jones being cut because he just can't stay healthy. The final WR crew could turn out to be Northcutt, Wilford, Williams, Walker ®, Sharon and they will plan to keep their other rookie Broussard on the practice squad with Jones being left out in the cold. They can cut him at this point without really hurting their cap and I expect he will be gone. As far as projections your guess is as good as mine. With the TE's in the mix the numbers for this crew will be pedestrian and not worthy of draft pick. I suspect to find most if not all of them on the waiver wire at some point this year. The D will be worthy this year as long as they can remain reasonably healthy. A lot of the young guys got to play last year due to injuries and I'm expecting that to pay dividends this year. I can see them winding up being top 3 again this year (NFL). Top 5 in Fantasy.

    Jermaine Wiggins to Jacksonville soon?

I agree with that I just think that just his veteran knowledge at the position is what will help both Lewis and Wrightster in their development. Smokin I think Lewis has the ability that you've mentioned it's just that I don't know that the Jags utilize their TEs in that fashion. We do have a new OC this year and he's known to like to throw the ball deep off of PA so I don't think that this is a benefit for a TE with Lewis' abilities. If it were me I'd see what other options were available, then make my decision based on the guys that you value better than Lewis. If I had to guess right now I'd suspect him to have about 30 to 40 receptions for about 400 to 500 yards and a probably 4 TD's.

Homer Mock Draft - ** DISCUSSION THREAD **

I agree 100% about the Ginn pick! I pray they don't take him here. With a veteran in Northcutt being signed and the rest of the guys being 1 more year matured, new WRs coaches, I suspect they should definitely get their act together and don't really see the need to reach for a WR with the 17th pick. I'd be happy with a S, DE and even a LB at this pick, we'll see what happens shortly.

Homer Mock Draft - ** DISCUSSION THREAD **

Just got around to looking at this. While I'm OK with the pick here I was also looking at Nelson with our 1st rounder. I think McCray steps into a steady rotation at the end and should be able to help pick up the slack until Hayward is full strength, if ever. DE is definitely a need as I'm not sure about Hawkins being an every down type of player and Spicer getting old.

    Jermaine Wiggins to Jacksonville soon?

Expect two TE sets with Lewis being the feature guy. Lewis still needs to work on his blocking technique which is why having a veteran like Wiggins on the staff for depth is a good move. Wrightster has proved to be a decent TE and he'll definitely be in the mix once fully healthy but I would expect Tony G or Gates numbers out of any Jax TE, they won't throw the ball to them that much.

The official Bust of the Year thread

Caddy definitely has to be my biggest bust of the year. I've had a few surprises that have helped me along the way though so it hasn't been that bad. Foster is definitely a close second from my team.

Slap Youself in Here if you benched Ronnie Brown

I won't even admit who I put in as a replacement. Needless to say it cost me the W....

Mcnabb owners...who is your bye week fill-in?

Lefty will be my fill in. He'll be fine by then.

    Never bench your studs

Brown has been the victim of horrible offensive line and quarterback play. As a Brown owner I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to Miami benching C-pep for Harrington.

    Colts D vs. run/pass

If Freeney plays be prepared for Pennington to be sacked. Their run defense has always been suspect however they can be had passing as well. It really depends on the week. The one consistent is that once they get the lead....the pass rush seems to step up tremendously!
