    VY/Moss

I think whether Young benefits from Moss and whether Moss rights the ship has to do with the manner in which the Titans deploy him more than anything else...No one will mistake Young for Brady and Moss wasn't producing big numbers in the Pats offense with one of the best QBs in the NFL at the helm---so just comparing Qbs or the skill position players around him is misleading. Moss had Peterson to take off defensive pressure and didn't really produce, so trumpeting the fact that he has CJ in the backfield seems to be much the same argument people made when he went to Minn...The key, in my opinion, will be what types of routes they ask Randy to run. If the Titans stick to the basic couple of routes that he has run all season (flys and sticks), Moss and Young will continue to produce as they have most of this season. But, if they use Moss in a true number one role, running all of the routes on the tree and move him around to create mismatches, both Randy and VY should see a significant uptick in numbers. Not sure this will happen, but the lack of other good options at receiver for Tenn. seem to make it more likely that Randy will be asked to do more in this offense than he was in either of his previous two stops...which in theory could lead to good numbers for both Randy and Vince. Or the food might suck in Tenn. and Randy could be homeless in two weeks...nothing would surprise me.

    LaGarret Blount = Ron Dayne

The "hilites" posted showcase almost every single touch he had...on carries where he was met in the backfield, he did what most backs do (including Dayne) and fought but lost yards...But, on some of his carries, his strength and will are on full display, gaining yards where there appear to be none to gain. He also delivered the wood in the last 3 yards of his 15 yard scamper, showed excellent athleticism on his long run at the end of the game, punched it in from short yardage, caught a couple of balls.... May not be the savior of fantasy teams and may not be as productive again...but, from what I watched in that game, he has the skill set and size to make an impact this year and beyond.

    Randy Moss Waived, Possible Destinations

A complete and total wild card that hasn't been mentioned much but would be very intriguing...The Indianapolis Colts. Definitely plenty of reasons why it won't happen (Indy's conservative ownership, not wanting to disrupt chemistry, etc)...but, if they did show some interest, it might make some sense. Injuries have decimated the receiving corps to the point that Tamme, White and an always injured Gonzalez are being relied upon as every week producers...the backs are all hurt so they need to throw the ball more than normal. Adding Moss would free up Wayne a great deal on the other side and would allow Garcon to create mismatches galore from the slot. And Peyton Manning, one of the greatest and most cerebral of all time and in his prime, would be as good a choice as any to be able to tame Moss and his recent antics. Playing for a SB contender, with the best in the game under center and the opportunity to put up big second half numbers in his quest for one final payday...what's not to like if you are Moss... Again, all signs point to this being a long shot at best, but, I would be intrigued as hell to see what Moss could do as a Colt...

    Rolling a Blount

Showed off a little bit of everything on that long run...vision at the line of scrimmage to spin back weakside, athleticism in hurdling the defender and respectable straight line speed...grabbed him of the wire last week---wouldn't be able to get him had I waited until after this game to try to add him...

    2nd half of season STUDS

I think Calvin is in excellent position to challenge Roddy and Andre for the top receiver spot...He put up respectable numbers over the first seven weeks, has a healthy Stafford returning to the lineup and a full complement of skill players around him to relieve some of the defensive focus...Weather shouldn't be much of a factor for the Lions in any game moving forward and the Lions have a favorable schedule. Having pieced together 5 tds in his first six games, I foresee him ending the year with 13+ tds---the yardage should also show some improvement---I predict 80+ for 1300 and 13 as a fair estimate for his end of year numbers---putting him near the top of the receiver heap when it is all said and done. This will be the first of many years to come where Megatron is in the discussion as best fantasy wideout...

Think Jags coaching learned anything last week?

I do have both McFadden and Bush on my roster and agree that an injury to DMC would not be a total backbreaker....Oak has proven that they are able to run the ball and produce Rb1/2 numbers, so, I don't think it would be terrible if you decided to pull the trigger...MJD is a safer play for the remainder of the year, but, I agree that the Oak starter is likely to outscore him on the year...

Think Jags coaching learned anything last week?

This is a trade that I think depends upon the level of risk you are willing to take. With McFadden, you would be getting the guy who will probably score more points moving forward, but who also has a track record of getting nicked and dinged at the drop of a hat. Sticking with MJD could result in fewer points, but he is more likely to be available to start every week from here on out...I think I would stick with MJD, but I am not completely sure...
  9. Taking that a step further...If you consider fumbles lost as a fairly unpredictable stat and look at sacks and Ints as the two most predictable factors of how well a fantasy defense might perform, Chicago is the run away winner for team that you want your defense playing against...31 sacks and 12 Ints---only Arizona's 28 combined sacks and ints are even close...Play the matchups and bet on Cutler leading your defense to nice points weekly...I might play "Bye" against them this week!

Is it time to put Run DMC back in?

    Ummm...I was very wrong...Benched him for Deangelo...whoops.

Is it time to put Run DMC back in?

If you have the luxury, I suggest waiting a week to see how the Raiders utilize him...Is he truly 100% and ready to take back the full load, or are they going to protect him by splitting his reps with Bush...I am thinking that he will be eased back in, with a big dose of Bush today sprinkled in with 3rd down DMac...

    The CJ Spiller lottery ticket

Picked up Spiller as a throw in to a trade a few weeks back...Thinking I want to hold him on the roster in the hopes that he gets extensive looks come playoff time, but am wondering what other owners think...Buffalo sucks and am not sure how much he will be worth even if he is getting the ball alot...Is he worth the roster stash (meaning a pass on the Starks, Woodhead types) or is he a cut bait guy at this point?

    Vick Dropped!

I would cut both of your QBs for a shot at Vick...He will be in your lineup every week when he comes back healthy.

    Do the Carlton!!!!

I guess dropping DJAX altogether would be ridiculous

Great pick up...makes me wonder what the eight guys in front of you were thinking to let him fall past them...

    My devious plan

I say take the "Picking up a guy so my opponent can't" philosophy a step further...Let's say your top Qb is on a bye and a buddy of yours in the league has two strong options at QB...Would it be ok to trade for one of those two Qbs for this week only, with the intention of trading back the following week? In essence, isn't this the same general principle...renting a guy for a week to gain an advantage over your opponent? The only difference is, the points would be used for you, as opposed to your original query where the points are kept from your opponent...both cases, not cool...Play your team and let the other guy do the same...

    Patrick Crayton?

    That.

    B. Jackson

Agreed on Starks, though, how sold are you on a the guy you have that has played football the past two years? Starks, especially in a keeper league, may be worth looking into a bit...

    B. Jackson

This post is depressing...love the honest, self-reflection, though...You did the right thing to grab Jackson when Grant went down...it just hasn't really panned out. You have to hope that Moreno comes back fully healthy, Felix stays in one piece and Addai's hurt shoulder leads to a Brown-out in Indy...I am assuming you have a stud Qb and some stud receivers, so, you may be ok waiting it all out...Or else grab STARKS (see other posts to discuss him).

torain or deangelo rest of the way?

FWIW, Deangelo has always performed better late than early...That, combined with the past history of Torain, makes me lean towards Deangelo for now...A couple more weeks of Torain up and Williams down will make me re-evaluate, but, for now, give me DWill...

    Why not Projection for Woodhead?

8-34 and 5-31, maybe...Oversight to be sure, but, I would temper expectations...

    Paradise Picks: Week 7

Like them all except McCluster...Too much lightning in a bottle with him and I think he becomes irrelevant if/when KC gets up and starts to run...but the other four all have the "door is open so perform" upside this week...

With FInley done, why no love for Donald Lee?

Mentioning Chewy would just be in bad taste, unless you included the photos of him in the hottub with the 15 year old, which would have then turned it into the post of the decade! Also, this post needs more Ben Coates.

With FInley done, why no love for Donald Lee?

I hear you about being the last man standing and all, but...Lee has 16 Tds in 7 previous seasons, has never had more than 48 catches or 600 yards...Kudos for the Bubba Franks reference (I had forgotten/blocked him out), who, by the way, never topped 450 yards in his career...

    Antonio Gates.....Sprained Toe

Agreed...SD's need for a W and the lack of any real credible threat outside of Crayton (mostly being nice since you picked him up ) has my gut saying they will try to run him out there...which I fear will lead to him being in the lineup just long enough to limp off the field after being stepped on by a lineman on the first running play...I say rest him for a week and then unleash him again in week 8!
