  1. I haven't been around too long, but long enough to know that Tommy Maddox threw for 5000 yards and that DeAngelo Montgomery is the swiftest player in the NFL. But that was all destroyed in the great blizzard of 05...stupid Latinpimp. RIP MKB4.

Deangelo Montgomery thread was perhaps the greatest thread ever created. I cried when it was finally closed.

  2. Here are the scenarios I see for this:

    1) Injury to starter leads to relatively unknown back up coming out nowhere to excel. Ward is potentially a good candidate for this. Person above brought up Mewlede Moore. Michael Pittman a few years back helped me win a league.

    2) Low radar Rookie/2nd year player excels. FWP, Michael Clayton, Colston.

    3) Trade/ FA pick up brings a low radar player to the forefront. Maybe Dillon this year?

    4) Someone recovers from injury at a much faster rate than expected or off an injury year.

    Pretty much unpredictable.

  3. One of the easiest replies I've had this year.... JAMES. NO RBBC and a new coaching staff committed to O-line improvement and the run. 11 TDs and 1,500 total yards. Agree with previous poster- way too many issues with Portis- health, team and Betts just off the top of my head.

James is 29. Portis is TURNING 26 next month. OP said KEEPER LEAGUE fellas, not redraft.

  4. Settle down Killer Elite and get off your high horse. Who are you to judge the fantasy savvy of another player in an entirely different league with different rules, different scoring, team-owners who might not actually trade alot, etc. As for me, I rarely even draft 3 RBs and i'll tell you why: 1) there are rarely any trades in our league, 2) you can start 1 RB and 4 WRs if you want, 3) if you have the fortune of drafting 2 stud RBs, then you are required to start a TE and we all know how the talent pool dries up pretty quickly.

The added value that the 3rd RB would bring me is exactly as the original poster described, practically zilch. He would maybe be a bye-week filler. In my league, I probably wouldn't even need him for that because I could just switch my lineup for the week to 1RB/4WR. And since trades are rare, it makes even less sense for me to pick up a 3rd RB early as trade fodder.

Now I'll be the first to say that my season could crash and burn if one of my two RBs goes down due to injury or in one or both underperform, but that is the risk I take and I am comfortable taking that risk every year while other idiots in my legaue draft 3,4 and sometimes even 5 RBs in a 12 roud draft. I just doesn't make sense to me to carry taht much RB depth when so much of it sits on the bench every week.

Remember, each league is different and each team owner has his or her preferences. As for me, I prefer to risk it with only 2 RBs on my team and a stable full of WRs to choose from each week...

So in leagues with no trading, start 1 RB and it is an acceptable risk that one of your 2 starting rbs gets injured or underperforms, this strategy is sound. OK, gotcha.

  5. Though your numbers maybe sound on paper, it's too narrowminded an approach and relies on an ideal situation... it overlooks all the variables that make FF so complex. If all your players play the entire year at their expected level regardless of matchup at their average point per game this will work.

Anyone who has played for more than a few seasons knows that this is just not a sound strategy. Sh*t happens as they say. Injuries occur, players underperform, players overperform. Match ups do make a difference. Value will drop to you in drafts that are just crazy too pass up.

  6. Ok, so a blocked punt that brushes/deflects off a helmet of a defensive lineman who is being held in position by an offensive lineman should be considered a live ball? You're insane.

I would call this offensive holding. And yes the ball would be live if it was past the LOS. What is your argument here? You prove nothing with this statement.

  7. NFL (PROFESSIONAL) punt returners occasionally misjudge punted balls that they had their eyes on for 10 seconds, and you're telling me that a lesser coordinated linesman has a better chance of avoiding a line drive, erratically bouncing blocked kick? Yes, the chances of that happening are slim, but the rule punishes such an unintentional touching, whichever way the receiving player was facing.

Let's change all the rules for unintentional touching.

When a punted ball hits the back or foot of the blocker on the return team and the kicking team gets the ball, it shouldn't count, because it was unintentional.

When the QB throws a ball and it hits a lineman, change it so it's not a penalty. It was unintentional.

Better yet, when someone fumbles, let's let them keep the ball. Interceptions too. It was unintentional.

  8. In my PPR league, KJ is the 4th ranked RB behind LT, LJ and Westbrook (granted he has not had his bye yet). Considering I got him in the 4th round, he has been fantasy gold for me. His remaining schedule isn't too tough, he seems to be getting used to the offense and getting stronger recently, and DET has shown they will pass to him even when far behind. He is an every down back who doesn't split time, gets almost all the GL carries and catches a lot of passes. I'd have to get a pretty sweet offer to move him.

I took a chance on him and AJ this year in a couple leagues and I have been quite happy with both.

  9. I hear the best time to change to an unproven rookie QB is after you have won 5 straight and lead your division.

Plummer's pick did lead to Cleveland's only TD, wiping out the shut out I had playing Denver's Def...

    So, I agree.

  10. Please try and follow along. My first response was to the guy who ripped Tiki for no TDs, and then this was a DIRECT RESPONSE -point by point- to the poster who replied to mine. If you are going to rip my post, please try and get the context right first. That's why people include the replies in their post.

    Thank you.

    You're Welcome.

Who's ripping your post? I'm asking you a question which you failed to answer.

  11. 1) Are you suggesting you believe Jones will have more receiving targets or yardage by years end? I don't think so. And if you are going to pull up stats to date, you might want to mention the fact that Tiki has had his bye week and Jones hasn't!

    2) Tiki is a HUGE part of the Giants offense and the other components also make it harder to focus on him. Jones would do better to have more weapons in that offense.

    3) Tiki will get his. Bank on it.

Tiki has always been a slow starter who gains momentum as the season goes on. He's starting to hit his stride. I love how people always overreact after 5 games or so.

So, because of this, it is utterly inconceivable that KJ would put up more FF points THIS WEEK (NOT BY YEAR'S END) against the Jets than Tiki will against Dallas as the OP suggests?

  12. people keep saying this but honestly the question has no bearing on the argument.

Then you should also decide on:

    Garrett Mills

    Tony Jackson

    John Foschi

    Casey Cramer

    Delanie Walker

    Randal Williams

    Reggie McNeal

    &

    Michael Robinson

And yes, I am being serious.

  13. Why is that?

I've heard the same thing also about the skill positions. Most say it is because RB is the one position where natural instincts and talent (Knowing how to hit a hole or having good field vision) are most utilized versus learning pass routes, coverages, schemes, etc. Its the reason why there are always more break out rookie RBs instead of WRs or QBs.

Plus there is not a stat for how the RB is blocking, which is usually the most difficult thing for a rookie RB to learn. We only see their rushing/receiving stats.

  14. I'm imagining the scenario where Frank Gore gets injured and Michael Robinson takes over.... and there are owners starting Robinson at WR and Colston at TE. Hijinx ensues.

(holding on to this duo in one league just for the off chance this may happen )

  15. Yah, I lost because of this change as well.

Was down 3 with the ATL Def left. At the end of the night it showed 4 points for the Def, 17 points allowed and 1 sack. So I won by one point. This morning it showed I lost by 2.

I'm trying to find the rationale behind this. The punt block goes to the NO def, but after the block is it considered a change of possession and the score is made by the special teams now considered the offense. If the punt was received and ran back for a TD, the def gets the points against. I guess that is how they score it.

  16. And then, with your first round pick that you still have, you are guaranteed to get either Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, or LT2.

This is not true... SA & LJ would most probably be kept. LT would be in the draft pool. With the third pick of the draft you could actually get an RB as bad as RB11 (9 kept, plus 1st 2 picks of draft). You would also be giving the guy with the 1st pick a pretty good jump start with LT on his roster plus his keeper.

    I say keep LT.
