Not sure about this. Plastics would have become prevalent regardless of anything else. Without them our lives would be far worse than they are. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to find ways to make them biodegradable or something. They're being found everywhere, even in deep sea fish that theoretically shouldn't have them. But this is just really just part of our evolution. We invent something new that makes our lives easier, find it's shortcomings, work to overcome/minimize those shortcomings, and continue our evolution.
