Of course you can. Is there any doubt about the guilt of Bundy or BTK? -
New Study -Turns out the Earth is at about it's coldest point of the last 485 million years

I know. I know. Right wing Washington Post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/09/19/earth-temperature-global-warming-planet/ Look at that graph. We've been much hotter. And, according to the article, they found a clear link between CO2 and temperature. What they've been telling us for the last couple decades is that once we pass a certain point of no return, we will never be able to lower the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. But, this research suggests that's exactly what has happened in the past. So, we can take that talking point off the board. They also paint a doomsday scenario where if it does get a little bit hotter we won't be able to handle it. That makes no sense given our level of technological advancement, allowing us to adapt better than any species has in the past. Plus, we have AI now which can solve anything. In any event, this article is another trying to create more climate change hysteria but in reality, when scrutinized, it shows that any climate change issues we're facing can be managed and adapted to. We should continue trying to be better stewards of the environment but we should not destroy our economy, way of life, and standard of living doing so. -

It's supposed to be more difficult to get a conviction. That's kind of the point. So we don't, you know, execute innocent people. -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

So your thread title is admittedly inaccurate, and you have no idea what she's averaging nationally. That's just you making sh*t up to cover for your inaccurate thread title. But yeah, you're here for fair, vigorous debate. -

Tim, did she jump out to a 7 point lead in national polling or in ONE national poll? I suspect it's just you cherry picking a single poll once again and posting an inaccurate title AGAIN. But you want fair, vigorous discussion. -

Unrelated but tangential, Japan just acquitted the man who was the world's longest sitting death row inmate until he was released and granted a new trial about 10 years ago. Dude spent about 46 years on death row due to corrupt cops. I found out reading about this case that Japan has a 99% conviction rate. Anyone who thinks our system is focked up should read up on theirs. -

That standard would apply in death penalty cases. If you're not going for the death penalty you would be held to the reasonable doubt standard. If you can't prove it beyond all doubt don't go for the death penalty. -
You have no idea what he was even indicted for. Maybe slow your roll until more info is out. You love to jump the gun with incomplete information. Just an ignorant back.

ROFLMAO. Prominent Dem and first active mayor of NYC to get indicted and Tim tries to turn it around as some gotcha. GTFOH hack.

Lebron James - 20 years - 4 titles. Did he squander his chance at GOAT?
Strike replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Maybe Lequit just wasn't that good so no I don't think be squandered it. Don't get me wrong. He's a great player, just not GOAT level. -

Why is American food so much worse than European?

You're really reaching but technically you got me there. What they have said is that after we reach the point of no return recovery will be impossible. That's why we have to cut fossil fuels by massive amounts in just a short period of time. Are you disputing that characterization of what we've been told as well? But the article says there is a direct correlation between CO2 and global warming: I get that you and people like @TimHauck like to play semantic games but why don't you just look at the larger point and not do that? -

From the U.N. in 2022: Space.com: https://www.space.com/climate-tipping-points-closer-than-realized I could go on and on with links but no reason to. But you're telling me we haven't been told there is a point of no return. GTFOH. -

I've actually been following this case pretty closely. The evidence is very strong for guilt here. The "new" evidence isn't new. The big reveal was that his DNA wasn't on the knife used to kill the victim. This turned out to be a falsehood. It's true they couldn't find any but that's because the knife had been contaminated with the DNA of people who worked the original trial. Even the defense's own expert witness testified that he couldn't say that Williams' DNA WASN'T on the knife, just that there were multiple DNA samples. That's unfortunate but the conviction didn't rely on DNA to begin with. The other evidence was sufficient to convict and sentence him to death. Additionally, a previous governor had appointed a special panel of judges to look in to the case and, after SIX years, they still hadn't come to a conclusion. The current governor said enough is enough and disbanded that commission, and I agree with that decision. You should be able to form a conclusion after six years absent some new revelation about the crime. Neither the defense or the people up in arms over this case have refuted one piece of evidence that actually tied Williams to the crime, such as all the victims belongings being found in his car, the FACT that he sold the victim's husband's laptop a day or two after the crime was committed, etc.....This case is only "controversial" due to the activists using it to push their agenda. To Jerry's point - I would rather we come up with a new standard of guilt for capital cases. I've said this before. I think the standard should be "beyond ALL doubt" instead of "beyond reasonable doubt." That would also allow us to expedite the execution of the sentence. However, absent that I'm ok with the current process although I'd still be in favor of expediting executing the sentence. I don't believe in abolishing the death penalty. There are simply some cases where it is an appropriate punishment. On another note, there was another execution tonight. In Texas. Good riddance to both of them. -
Doubtful.

For some of us our multiple cars are toys. They're paid off so the only real expense is insurance. Why shouldn't I have toys? As far as the best financial advice, I'd.put invest in a 401k, don't just put your savings in a shoe box under your bed, don't run up your credit cards, and a lot of other things before don't have multiple vehicles. I hope you don't make a living in the financial services industry.
