1) The range thing isn't that big of a deal. Most families have multiple cars. You get an EV that you use as a daily driver and have the gas vehicle around for long trips. Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone but it allows a good chunk of society to mostly get off gasoline. The problem I have is with the government trying to eliminate non EV vehicles completely. There is a place for both. 2) I'd really love a breakdown of exactly how much gas vehicles are to blame for climate change. Per the following article, methane accounts for 1/3 rd of the warming over the last century and 25 percent currently: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/06/revealed-1000-super-emitting-methane-leaks-risk-triggering-climate-tipping-points But we never hear about this or whether they're trying to mitigate it. There are obviously other causes as well. So, exactly how much are gas vehicles contributing? Of course, as we've discussed in other threads, the fact that our leaders don't embrace Nuclear is a pretty big sign that our leaders aren't serious about combating this issue anyways.

Yeah, according to Biden we've had over 200 of them already this year!!!! IOW, it's no wonder people are freaking out. When the leader of your country is willing to blatantly lie like that it's going to affect the perception of the ignorant, simple minded people that make up more and more of our populace.

One of the problems is this notion that we can get to a zero stupid shooting society. It's like Gutterboy doesn't understand that even 30, 40, 50 years ago there were stupid, random shootings. In fact, violent crime and gun violence are down today relative to the 60's and 70's. But they start a thread for EVERY shooting they hear about, just like the news. Of course it seems worse. Local, individual shootings didn't used to be national headlines. As has been noted in this thread, the shooter was arrested and is likely facing significant charges. You can't just go shooting anything that moves on your property. There has to be an immediate threat.

Brownsville Texas police say 7 dead after being run down by a motorist in front of a migrant center
Strike replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Not gonna reread this whole thread, but has anyone noted the irony that this happened in Brownsville, TX? I mean, who would intentionally run over a bunch of Messicans in Brownsville? What would you expect to find there? -
Yes, Trump was highly effective. Look in to his policies and all the regulations he removed if you really want an answer to this question.

Eh. The actual debate might be worthy of watching, but the narrator of his summation clip is annoying as hell.

Just curious, what letter of the alphabet do you identify as?

Here's the full few paragraphs from what you just quoted: There is nothing in the above about the disposition of the assault case. His time in Riker's could just be because he couldn't make bail. We don't know. But, if that was his LAST arrest as indicated above, and the warrant was for this case as indicated in the quote I posted earlier, then when you posted the following: You were wrong. Nothing in that article indicates his time in Riker's was his sentence for the case with the 67 year old woman. It almost definitely wasn't since it commenced five days after the incident. Trials and sentencing usually don't happen that quickly after the offense is committed. So, it's almost definite that the warrant he had was related to this assault case on the 67 year old woman. But you keep defending this POS. You seem to like defending POS people.

As they should have. The evidence is overwhelming that this guy is innocent. -
Hundreds protest for second day, say UW-Madison response to racist video is insufficient

Hey Billy. You forgot to put the "Jean" in the middle of your alias there. Might want to ask Mike to add it. -
Then his life is ruined.

Fortunately, since all the witnesses WANTED this guy subdued, that wasn't an issue. Some of those witnesses even ASSISTED in the subduing. They just didn't have a chokehold on the guy.

AFAIK Thomas never had cases before him involving his buddy he vacationed with. If you've got evidence to the contrary post it in the Thomas thread. As far as me not starting threads about other conflicts, apparently I don't follow the SC as much as you do. I will say that I highly doubt your claim that you can "think of many other such instances." That implies that right off the top of your head you've got a list of SC cases where a justice had a conflict. Even if you've read of a bunch of other cases I find it hard to believe you've got those memorized and can just post them off the top of your head. But it's not something I waste time researching myself. I saw this one and found it interesting given the recent stories about Thomas AND the fact that Breyer recused himself from these cases. It seems obvious that they both should have.

Your wife doesn't mind my dad bod. Just sayin.......
-
At the moment I have a bit of a dad bod. I'd say it's just a question of motivation. I'd like to get a bit trimmer but other priorities always seem to take precedence. Probably a level of lazy in there as well. When I quit drinking a few years ago I was hoping that would help but it's made minimal difference. Probably because I drink more soda now. I can have ONE vice, can't I????

I don't believe your understanding of the Thomas case is accurate. There is a thread on that case. If you want to discuss him go to that thread and bump it. In the meantime, do you find it even slightly interesting that Breyer recused himself from cases from the same publisher after receiving much less money than Sotomayor but she didn't feel obligated to do the same?

This is almost like those threads Rusty used to start called "Caller of the day." Except those were entertaining.
