When configuring ignoring someone, you get options for WHAT you want to ignore of theirs, and one of those options is to ignore mentions. This should prevent you from being notified when someone tags you so you don't have to ignore EVERYTHING from that person but for those people who are serial taggers you can ignore them tagging you.

Not sure what you mean here. You can uncheck any that you want so you can choose to only ignore some things. In this case, I'm calling out the ability to JUST check the box labeled "mentions" which should prevent you from being notified when someone tags you in a post. Some of us get frequently tagged for no constructive purpose; simply to annoy us. This allows us to prevent that.
