Even being in the suburbs here in Denver we get a lot of wildlife. There are lots of pockets of open spaces and pseudo wilderness where they can live that are within the area. Tend to see them a lot at night but even during the day you sometimes come across something cool. I had a family of foxes living in my backyard one summer and a raccoon living under the deck. A couple years ago had a bobcat walk down the walkway in the development and he stopped and stood for 5 minutes about 3 feet outside our front window. A month ago saw a raccoon climbing all over my neighbor's house and roof. That was funny. Spring and summer rabbits are all over the place. So different than growing up in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles.

Damn. I had no idea. That's focking cool.

I have no idea what any of this means

Not when you fly your own plane......

When the demand for racism exceeds the supply, make it up.....

No one is going for his job. But his employer's name is all over the Internet listed alongside this guy. They may not want the bad publicity and when they become aware of the incident they may not like the character it suggests this fellow possesses. That isn't anyone going for his job. That's his employer CHOOSING not to employ him due to HIS actions.

If I were him I'd jump on social media right now and announce my change of allegiance to the Packers.
-
And he's white so he can sit in the exit row.
-
Holy crap. I'm not gonna post any more but god the Internet is great. I got his work e-mail and phone numbers just doing a simple google search. He's deleted his LinkedIn too. He's so focked.
-
Yeah, you know, you're right. I'm sure Frontier has NEVER booted a white person from an exit row. You really need to be tested for autism dude. You HAVE to be autistic with your thought processes and the hills you choose to die on..
-
That's not what you're asked to do when you sit in an exit row. And he's retired. You have no clue what shape he's in. He could look like Shaq for all we know.
-
Maybe they are. But you're undermining your own argument here. If they CONSISTENTLY remove people from the exit row if those people don't follow the book immediately and 100% then it has nothing to do with discrimination. It has to do with their POLICIES that they BELIEVE create the safest flight.
-
What, you think an MMA fighter has some special powers or something? Specifically, why would Khabib be better suited than, say, @jerryskids to assist in an emergency on an airplane?
-
@TimHauck Let me ask you a couple of questions, and TRY to think about this LOGICALLY. IF the flight attendant was racist, I assume the presumption is that she didn't want anything to do with Khabib. Do you think she's dealt with Russians or whatever ethnicity she thought he was before? Do you think it's her SOP to discriminate against people of his ethnicity? If so, how do you think she still has her job considering she must deal with people of that ethnicity regularly? Lastly, she asked him to move seats. How is that going to make her have to deal with him any less than she would have with him in an exit row? Look, the last thing I want to deal with if the plane goes down and is on fire is a person in the exit row who the crew has deemed unsuitable. Contrary to popular belief, flight attendants do a lot more than just serve coffee. They are trained to create the safest environment in the cabin in the event of an emergency. A commercial airplane cabin is the LAST place we should be worrying about being WOKE.

LA Wildfires, 100K people evacuated and counting

Get rid of all the illegals in So. Cal. and the amount of rebuilding needed will decrease significantly. -
I've always liked him. I just recently found out about his background in KC. If I'd known sooner I might have been biased and NOT liked him.

Time for a new generation of fire hydrant?

Yeah, this is JUST like a digital water meter. -
Time for a new generation of fire hydrant?
Strike replied to Engorgeous George's topic in The Geek Club
I just looked at your link. I am not convinced this is even being marketed as a replacement for traditional fire hydrants. Beyond that, I don't think it would have helped here anyways. While Pacific Palisades is a hilly, brushy area, it's still a traditional city suburb with streets and what not. The fire hydrants aren't installed on the mountains in the middle of the brush. They're installed on streets just like anywhere else in the suburbs. So not sure what distinction you're trying to make compared to the fire hydrant a block from my house. In totality, I think we disagree on how this type of system could be implement and the effectiveness of it even if it were. -

I've been saying for years that if we crack down on illegal immigration, we won't need to deport 20+ millions illegals. Trump isn't even in office and he's already having an effect and some illegals are thinking about leaving on their own: https://www.denverpost.com/2025/01/12/trump-mass-deportation-colorado-immigrants-migrants/ -
Well, we haven't been to the playoffs since Peyton Manning retired and weren't expected to get there this year either so you SHOULD feel that way. However, I would caution you about being overconfident. In the first meeting this year we SHOULD have beaten the Chiefs. A blocked 35 yard field goal is the only thing that saved the Chiefs, WITH Mahomes, from being swept by the Broncos this year. And we won't have any pressure in that game, just like this one.

I think we already have more yards than the Chargers gained yesterday.

Time for a new generation of fire hydrant?
Strike replied to Engorgeous George's topic in The Geek Club
To the extent that this is feasible, you're going to have to go in to more detail on your "targeted nozzles" concept. Most fire hydrants have a little stub sticking out of them that the fire dept. attaches a hose to so they can direct the water on the fire. Just opening those up may release a lot of water but it will just be flowing down the street, especially in the hilly areas most of these fires are burning in. That's just gonna be a waste of water. Fire hydrants aren't every 5 feet such that you can have movable nozzles sticking out of the fire hydrant to point directly at the fire. There's a reason those hoses are 50 feet and longer. And, of course, the expense of retrofitting a city like Los Angeles would probably be in the 100's of BILLIONS. This is a city that couldn't even replace the cover on top of a reservoir within a few months and left it empty during that time. How efficiently and in what time frame would you expect them to retrofit 56 thousand fire hydrants, including adding the infrastructure to power them and make them intelligent? -
DEI Mayor Gone Awol; Mayor Karen Bass Faces Criticism Over Fire Department $17.6 Million Dollar Budget Cut
Strike replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Just gonna use this thread for Bass related failures so as not to clutter up the main fires thread: https://www.city-journal.org/article/la-mayor-karen-bass-budget-wildfires @The General Remember when you were defending her by saying the Police budget was increased when the fire budget was cut, and I pointed out that there were probably other departments that had cuts too so trying to tie those two together was deflection?
