Right-hander Seth Lugo and the Kansas City Royals are in agreement on a three-year, $45. Jeff Passan - The Royals vowed to spend this winter, and Lugo gets one of the biggest free agent deals they've given to a pitcher. They've got plenty more to do to get competitive and should add at least one more starter in a market full of them. Lugi had a 3.57 ERA in 26 starts with 140 strikeouts in 146 1⁄3 innings for the Padres this year, his first season as a full-time starter since 2017. He went at least five innings in 22 of his 26 starts and averaged 5.6 innings-per start. Lugo is a strike-thrower. His 6 percent walk rate was the 19th-lowest among all pitchers with at least 100 innings. Lugo has a five-pitch mix with a fastball, curveball, sinker, slider, and change up. The sinker was his best pitch last year, with opponents hitting just .206 against it, and he netted a groundball rate of 45.2 percent. The Royals reportedly pursued Lugo last off-season before he signed a one-year, $7.5 million deal with the Padres. Someone else to draft in Homers!

The Broncos broke Mahomes. https://www.denverpost.com/2023/12/11/vance-joseph-broncos-broke-patrick-mahomes-chiefs-nfl/

I think you are under rating that TB defense, as well as the current chiefs defense. The Chiefs have a really good defense.
-
Yeah, but it becomes one game when you start talking afc vs nfc. And at that point, anyone who makes it that far has a chance to beat the other team. So your best of the best three nfc teams still only get one chance to beat the afc team that makes it through. And there isn't a real clear favorite at this point.

I guess you expect 7th round rookies to come in and be all-world right away

Can we do away with the snapdragon ad that's popping up as a box every time we open a thread @Mike FF Today ? Tia

11 teams in the AFC have winning records, compared to 5 in the NFC. I think we start to expect greatness from one or two teams, but the reality is there is more parity than ever before. I still think the AFC is a better overall conference, and even if you say Philadelphia and San Fran are better than all those AFC teams, they aren't that much better. I see about 6 teams I feel can make the run in January and win a Super Bowl. And I still count the z chiefs as one of those teams.

So now that the Lions are falling off the face of the earth, we don't get this on Sunday night anymore? We see you : ninja:
-
With four left to play all the need to do is play a game better than Miami and stay above the fray and they at least get two games at home.
-
And Dilfer is no Mahomes.
-
If Tent Dilfer can win a super bowl, this team can too.
-
I really think they'll be fine. Before Sunday they were missing nick Bolton who makes a huge difference as the play caller on defense. No Pacheco yesterday. Can't guarantee an entire team will stay healthy, but talent wise this is still one of the most talented teams in the nfl.

You guys are acting like the sky is falling for the Chiefs. We're now a game out of second place with a head to head win against the Fins.

These have turned into pretty greta games

5 calls Patriots fans can use to blame the refs for their Super Bowl loss

Does the ignore function work? I'm about to use it for the first time ever. -
He did put out a public apology today, specifically to his he responded to Josh Allen after the game saying that's not the example he wants to set for young people. I'm sure you can find it.

Pride? Over a dumb football game? Is that what you are saying? I can agree with you all, these are offsides. But then call them. Why wait until the last play of the game? That's just dumb. -

Technically, probably so. But if that's the call let them know that's how offsides is called. The last time the Chiefs were flagged for offensive offsides was 1995. Are you telling me it hasn't happened before the most critical play of yesterday's game? Or did they just miss all the others? -
And RIP Joe. I guess he knows for sure now whether this game we call entertainment is rigged, as he started to believe at the tail end of his fandom.

Consistency would be cool
-
BS again. It's a long season and we'll still win the super bowl so there.
-
Chiefs don't win the super bowl last year without his point return, so they can part ways after the season but he'll still get a pass from me.

That's exactly what I've been saying.
