If I were my son, I might think about military if I were him. Again, with my lackadaisical approach to life I never would have survived the environment. But going to somewhere like officer school at Fort Leavenworth or applying to a military academy... maybe joining a military band for my son, is something I would think would be an ideal fit for him. But I don't think that's what he's looking for, either.

My son is not like his dad. First, he just had his wisdom teeth pulled today, and everyone knows my teef never lasted until I was 17 years old. Second, he way's more disciplined than I ever imagined myself being. He's in the top 1% of his HS graduating class of 400+, 32 (I think he said) on his ACT, and extremely active in extracurricular (state band honors, baseball, FBLA, student council, etc.) and has a job at a pizza shop where he works probably 15-20 hours per week. My point in sharing that, is that he is setting his own course and I'm minimally involved. He has applied to K-State, MU, KU, Wisconsin, Purdue and Florida. I feel like it's between MU and KU and he's leaning MU because of in-state tuition. He has a close friend from school at Florida, feels like he's close enough to one of his grandma's in Wisconsin (she lives near Lake Michigan) and for some reason he also picked Purdue. He wants to go into engineering, and he thinks he's landed on Data Science Engineering. KU doesn't offer that as a specialized degree, but MU does. But I think if he just had to pick schools he would probably choose KU because I've raised him to be a fan as we've gone to games nearly every year. He wants the college experience. He wants to play in marching and pep bands and go on excursions and travel with a team. He's also interested in study abroad. I'm sort of encouraging him to not be so mindful of the cost, but that's easy for me to say. I think he's hoping to have $10k saved up on his own for school and is calculating what his degree will eventually cost him. I think he could also get some BS gov't money for school because his mom fills out the FASFA as a single mom and I don't think I have to be included for my kids, but for some reason I am with my step-daughter. It's all jacked up and needs reform, with affordability and accountability built in somehow. So for him I think it makes sense. And when I talk to him about a business degree (because he's good with finance and numbers) he wants something more specialized to set himself apart. However, if you're not sure what you want to specialize in, I think it is becoming less and less attractive to go to school just to go like I did back in the day and party and miss classes.

one time this guy mailed me beer. The box was a little wet and a couple had leaked some beer out, but the four that made the trip in tact were good.

it's about 50/50. I've gotten a lot of stuff but I'm sure there are 4/5 guys who have stiffed me over the years. I never got anything from the Chiefs beating the Bills last year, although I forgot who it was that bet me.

West Virginia looks destined to win a natty

will the Lions rest starters, since the game really doesn't mean much?

this is how I feel about ed b1tching about the chiefs

I thought Mizzou played Iowa yesterday

each week I watch the Vikings, the more I believe that Darnold is a damn good player and there are NFL organizations that have driven good talent straight into the ground, No wonder guys like Elway and Eli didn't want to play for crap franchises.

better formatting, can't wait for Sunday afternoon & SNF

I thoroughly enjoy the value you get a season ticket holder when games don't start at noon on Sunday.
-
And yet the starters are still putting in work. Campbell is goofy.

The Vikings can't let darnold walk. Can they?

my son was born in january of 2007

yeah, but that Min/ Detroit game should be a fantastic one, and a great way to end the regular season. I'm a little surprised they put Baltimore to finish before the Bengals/ Steelers on Saturday. If the Ravens win then Pitt can only get the 5th or 6th seed, but I guess at that point it's still worth them playing to win because a trip to Houston in the wild card sounds a lot better than a trip to Baltimore. Still, any chance you can rest guys that always would be my strategy.

we may already have the answer: https://x.com/colton_pouncy/status/1871291492255625669 I'm not an NFL head coach, but if I were I would definitely be taking a different approach. I would rest anybody who needs a break or nursing any injury and use this as sort of a bye to prepare for the Vikings next week. Then hopefully you win that game, and your team gets an actual bye during the wild card round.

and I'm glad I didn't end up having to try and sell wild card tickets in this crap: https://x.com/pvtjokerus/status/1873423959863214199 those buffalo, baltimore and philly games are going to be....fun.

is detroit going to rest starters tonight, since it seems like it's really only next week that matters? If vegas odds end up right, this appears to be the wildcard weekend slate. So much at stake next week with the lion/vikings game. One team will have a solid chance to end up in the super bowl while the other ends up possibly playing three tough road games to get there. Denver (7) @ Buffalo (2) Pittsburgh (6) @ Baltimore (3) LA Chargers (5) @ Houston (4) --- Green Bay (7) @ Philly (2) Washington (6) @ Tampa Bay (3) MIN/DET (5) @ LA Rams (4)

The Giants will beat the Colts tomorrow.

Travis hunter isn't a 3rd round grade. -
First I heard called a hold that, but to me it looked like he just pushed him down and didn't grab anything.
