WSIS Ron Dayne versus J. Lewis

one more vote for the Dayne Train
  2. I know Roy is supposed to be the stud but it's the BEARS! No PPR in my league. Bonus question: Start NE Defense over KC this week? I am leaning that way since Oakland is relatively stingy in terms of turnovers and sacks allowed.
  3. Thinking of starting Maroney and TJones. Any argument to start Parker over either of those guys?

Any WAS homers have the Portis update from the weekend?

Last I heard, Portis is doubtful for Week 1. As a WAS homer, I would go out on a limb and guess that Betts will get the start over Duckett since he knows the system better -- but Duckett should get some of the goal line carries (assuming the offense can even get that far!) However, if I had to pick one off the waiver wire, I'd probably take Duckett for the longer term value assuming he will have similar stats as he did as #2 behind Dunn in ATL

    Here Is My Plan...

Also picked first in my 10 team league. My picks: 1- SA 2- W. Parker 3- TO (Fitz, Smith, Harrison, Johnson and Holt were all gone by then) 4- Roy Williams (a steal here...he should have been taken earlier in the 4th round) 5- T. Brady (only Manning and Palmer were taken before 5.01) 6- T. Jones 7- L. Maroney 8- L. Evans 9- B. Watson (we must start 1 TE) etc. Foster may not be available where you want him. He was taken in the 4th round (4.08) and the guy who took him handcuffed him with D. Williams at 8.08. Droughns and Addai were taken in the 5th and Dillon lasted until mid 6th round. A lot of people will tell you to wait on QB but I'm glad I took Brady where I did. E. Manning would not be my choice at 5.01 but you should have your pick of the top QBs after P. Manning and Palmer there. Most of the quality QBs were gone by 6.10. If I had waited that long, it would have been between Warner or Bledsoe as my QB1. I agree with the previous post on waiting for Defense. Unless Chicago or Carolina is there (they won't be), wait until the last rounds for D. In our league, more often than not the leading defenses are grabbed from the waiver wire, not drafted. Finally, be sure to leave room on your roster for the SA handcuff (M. Morris) in the 14th/15th

    Tiered Draft Cheatsheet ?

Check Rotoworld's "Tiers of Heaven" column (updated last week). It's not in a cheatsheet format, but fairly helpful. Ultimately, I found it most helpful to just build my own tiers for the top 10 QBs, top 25 RBs and top 25 WRs.

Now who would you pick at #4?

I'd try to trade the pick for a later slot. A guy in my 10 team league traded down to the #10 slot and probably had one of the best drafts. He got Jordan and Portis with his first two picks and Boldin and Ward with the next 2.

Somebody talk me out of going RB/WR/QB...

But that's sort of my point. The players that are going to come to me with the #21 pick are either: choice of Brady/Palmer OR Parker/Bush/KJ/Taylor tier of RBs In this hypothetical, would you choose the top QB and wait for the next tier of RBs at #40 (Dillon/Foster/Gore/etc) or take the RB and choose a QB out of the top 5 If it doesn't play out like that, of course I would adapt! For example, maybe Portis or Manning drops to 2.10 and then it's a no-brainer for me.

Somebody talk me out of going RB/WR/QB...

I appreciate the feedback, but I pick #1 so those two are exactly the same (picks 20/21)

Somebody talk me out of going RB/WR/QB...

    1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, D, K
  11. Picking #1 in a 10 team league -- TD weighted scoring system. Only 1 pt per 25 rush/rec yards; passing is 1 pt. every 50 yards (4 pt passing TDs) Looking back at our league's past 3 years of drafts there has been a very consistent distribution of RBs/WRs/QBs taken in the first 4 rounds so I am very cofident that the drafting scenarios for my first 5 picks are either: Round 1 - SA Round 2 - Top 4 WR (would be targeting Harrison or Holt) Round 3 - Top 15-16 RB (would be targeting Parker or maybe Taylor) Round 4 - Top 12 WR (targeting someone like Walker or Housh) Round 5 - Top 5-6 QB (McNabb or Bulger) OR Round 1 - SA Round 2 - Top 4 WR Round 3 - Top 3 QB (Brady or Palmer) Round 4 - Top 12 WR Round 5 - Top 22-23 RB (probably someone like Dillon, Foster, Green, Droughns, etc) My experience is that about half of the RBs taken in Round 2 end up significantly underperforming expectations (I was burned badly by KJ in the second round last year and Travis Henry the year before that). So would anyone argue for going with Brady or Palmer with pick #21 and taking whatever RB2 falls to pick #40. To me, it doesn't seem like that big a drop off from the 16th ranked RB to the 22nd ranked RB -- but the drop off for QBs after top 5 is significant. Even though I have ALWAYS drafted RB/RB, the more I think about it the more I like scenario #2 for this year. Can anyone talk me out of it?

Is this guy trying to lose?

How pissed was the guy picking #1 that Florida Patriots stole Vinatieri ahead of his pick in round 4! And I just LOVE the Watson sleeper pick in Round 3. Everyone knows it's good to get your TE pick out of the way early. Seriously though, as bad as this guy is, where were the rest of you as Dillon was falling to the 11th round??? (and Bush at #59 looks like pretty good value too).

How many here have improved thier records?

Wow TJ - bold statement from someone with over 15,000 posts to the forum since 2002!! But I'm sure all of those were totally informed, constructive and relevant posts on vital issues.

With a gun to your head...

thanks a lot guys -- the links are much appreciated, but still waiting for an answer to the original question. Any opinions out there?

    Better #3 RB

Take Foster but reach a round or two early for Williams as the handcuff
