    I'm starting Marcel Reece today

"My beloved Ice Cream Bar! I've had it since I was a child"!! The jolly, candy-like button! One of my all time faves bro And back on point.. i'm also locking into Marcel Reece. Have Taiwan stashed. if he detonates.. I'll likely roll him out for the 'Aints next week. Break a leg fellas!

Kudos and a big red star for the classic Ren & Stimpy inspired team name

    Rudolph explosion today?

Combined with: Lions Special Teams implosion? No Harvin to try to tackle anyway.

    Rudolph explosion today?

Loved him early of course, but dropped him this week. AWOL lately, Ponder regression and a brutal late schedule had me less than enthused about his future prospects. Now he'll prob go for 65 and a TD and get scooped off the wire next week. On the plus side, Frazier is quoted as saying that they need to utilize him more. Bottom line: He's been completely TD dependent this year and i'd rather try out a guy like Dreessen.. who at least has a much better guy throwing the ball. More competition for catches.. but if this is the only way for me to sniff a Bronco this late in the year.. i'm gong with it until he also dies on the vine.

    I'm starting Marcel Reece today

For now I have Reece locked into my Flex and have the speed pimp, Taiwan stashed on my bench. Hopefully they both do well and hold it down until I get Sproles back into operation. Sitting the fading Lance Moore in place of one of the Oakland backs. I'm likely sticking with Reece, based on game flow (anticipation of Oakland getting down by enough points in the 2nd half so that Marcel and his hurry up role make him viable). But still tempted to trot out Iceberg Slim, Taiwan Jones and his purple pimp fedora with the long feather & his long fur coat. All it takes is one big hole and a healthy 4.3, 40 sprint to make his fantasy day. Curious about what other owners are leaning toward today.. though I think we're all in the same boat, with no crystal ball in sight. Good chnce they both stink it up actually.

    Vernon Davis sucks

I was just generalizing. You must have made some saavy picks to fill your RB & WR positions to not be too adversely effected by Stafford. Gronk will always be steady if healthy and will deliver you some weeks.. but he's just about tied in terms of output with guys like Daniels and Rudolph right now. Guys who prob went lower than the 11th rd in most drafts. Zero targets for Vernon, Alex Smith & the Niners philosophy withstanding.. is brutal. Still, he's pointed like a top TE overall. Hot early and busting lately. 4 real good weeks (including that big game Week 2 v. the Lions) and had 3 clunkers out of the last 4 lately. Was just saying, doesn't he always seem to be like this? Only time i've ever had him, I "bought low" right around this time of year from a frustrated owner (maybe two seasons ago) and he was pretty nice down the stretch. He's just not Steady Eddie.. He's that guy you roll with, knowing his upside is major.. who usually goes something like 4/65, or suddenly scores on a 65 yard 1st half pass play and pads it the rest of the game with his usual, okay production. Were he even on Dallas or maybe Chicago, let alone Nola or NE.. he probably be a cemented as a Top 3 TE for the foreseeable future. Guy is just phenomenal athletically.. and seems finally, to not by such a "me first" asshat.

    Vernon Davis sucks

Well, it's a value position for FF. If you took Graham or Gronk anywhere after Rd.s 6 - 7 last year, your team was likely a playoff team. This year Gonzo comes closest, followed at a distance by maybe Kyle Rudolph. Taking one in the late 1st, like they're top tier RBs or stud WRs was likely a FF car accident waiting to happen. Strange draft this year though.. next year we'll be back to very few people reaching for both QBs and elite TEs in the early rounds. Back to the original post intent.. VD has never quite been the model of consistency though has he?

    Lance Moore

    Nice! Thanks for the update.

    Run DMC for Cedric Benson

Benson's got some worth. I don't think he's useless.. not in that offense. I think DMC is worth considerably more, no question. He's too good to not be more productive. The issue has to be durability for many owners. I can understand that.. but i'd take upside any day.

    Run DMC for Cedric Benson

Good arguments against acquiring him. I'm not really sure now. Other than security because you have two (2) player, effectively a nice handcuff, dunno if i still see an edge to the Spiller-FJax side of the debate.. assuming they both stay healthy and eat into each others touches.

    Run DMC for Cedric Benson

If i'm reading his game logs correctly, he had two good weeks (incld. only one very good week) and two total turds. Only one turd versus a D he should've done better against (Denver).. but that was largely due to gameflow with them falling behind. They ain't playing well.. but that's what bye weeks off and upcoming soft schedules are for. They have to get him going.. and he's a one man gang.

    Run DMC for Cedric Benson

Well, DMC's value is at total low point without injury being a factor. He's got some cherry matchups on the horizon and his playoff schedule is pretty good. In the league where I have Foster, the Bills RBs and Martin.. and a nice record, i'm trying to get him. If he stays healthy, it beats a timeshare back. One offer I have is both Bill backs for him.. the other Spiller-S. Smith for DMC-VJax (i'm usually down on VJax, but overall, i have these two WRs as pretty even. Freeman sucks but the Bucs SOS also gets much better). Bills timeshare plus sucky SOS going forward makes me think it's a good "play to win" idea. I'd take DMC as my RB2 any day of the week. Oakland sucks.. but upside is upside.. and the AFC West usually turns into shootout city in the 2nd half of the season.

Ryan Williams is being ranked high this week

No prob. dude.. glad it was informative. My fave and only paysite (i know, i know.. but it's paid for itself believe me), likes his chances tonight for a few reasons: -Cards really want to get the run game going. -Some Ram DT who's name escapes me is either a scratch or limited. -Ram run D is not good and their good corners should make the Cards offense a lot more run oriented. -Stephens-Howling is OUT tonight (double check, but i'm 90% sure on this). -Cards shouldn't be in their hurry-up mode so much tonight.. Miami had built up a lead and they needed to use it to come back. Powell will be featured in the hurry-up. -This site apparently thinks Williams will be used in plenty of 3rd down situations if he's playing well. ------------------------ I'd try him at a Flex spot if I still had him. I'd probably play him over both FJax or Spiller this week (whom i still have). If somehow the Rams pop out to a big lead.. you may be real disappointed. And yeah Snatchem.. may as well throw him in there, you can't kick yourself for sitting CJ2.2; he's at best a matchup play right now and it ain't looking great for him @MIN. Now stop bugging everyone on the main board with your anxious WSIS posts. You got Williams for one reason or another, Tonight's the night to try him out.

    Doug Martin

I'm holding. WAY too early to throw in the towel on him. LBlount may steal GLs and stay relevant for that purpose.. but the kid is talented, versatile and still adjusting. He still should get a ton of touches each week. His struggles have more to do with the whole Bucs offense stinking it up, than his own issues. They're on their Bye.. with home games against the Chiefs & Saints in weeks 6 & 7. Should be the perfect tonic to get the kid going again. If he struggles in those matchups, than he's got some issues. Still if the team sticks with him and keeps feeding him touches, he still has good value.

    Deep RB's on your wire

Tonight is likely the Ryan Williams audition. He's worth a little something now. If he lays a turd on Primetime versus the Lambs D.. he won't be worth much & I wouldn't want to buy him (or buy him back in my case) anyway. Powell & Miller seem like good stashes for future Flex use to me. Battle shouldn't be on anyone's wire anymore. At the very least, the Matthews owners should have rostered him already.

Ryan Williams is being ranked high this week

I dealt him away a little while ago.. in a bigger deal that was centered around RG3 for Lynch. I would have liked to have kept him for a possible 2nd half emergence. He does have some upside if he can take control of that backfield. That said, everything we knew about him and his situation is still relevant: The Pros: -Whiz likes him a lot, they drafted him at a high position and he busted his tail to try to get back healthy for this season. -He's got good power, he's reasonably shifty and is a powerfully built RB. -He's got an opportunity with Beanie out and the rumblings have always seemed that the team likes him more than Wells anyway. -The team's talented, effective defense and somewhat better offensive balance lately, may bode well for an improvement in opportunities for a RB. The Cons: -He's essentially a rookie.. he's adjusting to the speed of the pro game and has to learn and refine pass protection, ball security, reading blocking, staying healthy week-to-week, etc. Guy is not one of these savant rookies who just gets it off the bat IMO. -If they're in long down & distance situations, he'll come off the field for LSH or Powell. -ARI's Oline leaves a lot to be desired for run blocking -He's had a cold start. Even with their challenges running the ball as a unit, he's coughed the ball up (once when it should have cost them the game up in NE) and he hasn't made his own yards. Garbage time runs off of draw plays versus PHI is the only thing making his numbers completely un-hideous.. and they still pretty much are anyway. -The biggie to me: He's still recovering from a terrible knee injury from last year. At best, it's going to take time for him to get comfortable, he likely won't have some explosiveness that he may well have in later, after he's truly had some time to get more close to fully healthy. In short, I think this game is a great barometer to see if the kid will be FF relevant for the first half of the season. Otherwise, he'll likely be an intriguing stash (if you have the space) and possible real contributor in the 2nd half.. but his SOS doesn't look great. Based on that, the offense as a whole and the presence of (2) ideal looking 3rd down backs the team trusts, his ceiling is probably a sometime Flex start at best in 2012. He could just be a beast tonight.. he's worth the start IMO to cover a big bye week regardless, but if he tops 4.5 YPC versus the Rams run D.. I wouldn't get to excited about him down the line anyway.

Who are some good buy low candidates?

Okay.. good luck with the prediction. But like your vehement support for Julio above, the fact is that Green is super, super talented and a physical stud. I just wouldn't give up a guy with that much ability for a cheaper option. I'd look to sell off someone else if I had a big need elsewhere. Guys like him usually get theirs even against double teams and tough secondaries. His route running is far superior to Julio's. It scary to see how slick this guy is, along with the speed, size and hands. I have manlove dude, no doubt. I wish I had him in any league. I also understand that people like Julio's chances in the ATL offense. But factor in Roddy and Gonzo.. versus Hawkins and Gresham.. in fact, i'd take Green over Julio in a heartbeat based on skills, consistency and even for situation, as he is by far, the main man in CIN. BUT.. Julio's playoff schedule is much, much better. But, to each their own. I did grab an injured Julio late last season and he's one of the reasons I got lucky and ran the table. Undeniable strength, speed and leaping ability. As he learns from Roddy, he will add refinement and be tremendous for years to come. Green just strikes me as shockingly refined for a player with his experience level and if I was lucky to have him in a keeper or even a redraft, i'd be hard pressed to lose him. Gotta keep your studs unless forced to break your piggy bank for help elsewhere.

Who are some good buy low candidates?

I just don't agree. He just POPS off the screen when you watch him play. Tall, fast, great routes, a QB who vapor locks on him and he still seems to get his every week and he's great in the RZ. Combine that with a CIN D that despite talent, gives up plenty of points. I think Green is a slam dunk for a consistent season. That said, his late season/playoff schedule is pretty brutal: @SD, DAL, @PHI, @ PIT weeks 13-16.. and if 17 counts for you. BAL at home, the last week of the season. I'd ride him until then, maybe, trying to deal him when he's on a bye week 8 at the earliest. I don't think you can compare a fading rookie WR's production with his 2nd year outlook.

Dalton or Ponder. Dalton's really been scoring though, I'd grab him for sure.

Who are some good buy low candidates?

A gross overreaction. WRs are not as steady as RBs. Even the really good ones. I'd take Calvin & Green over Julio based on similar gamebreaking plays, but with added steadiness, but Julio will get his in that offense. White was seeing single coverage and Julio had a little hand injury. He's fine and will flat out put up some sick games in the near future. Roddy was likely a great value this year, but Julio is too big a weapon. What we saw in the CAR game was mainly a game planning result for sure.

Who are some good buy low candidates?

What's the take on Maclin's hip injury and disappearing act the other night? I still consider him to be a more complete player than DJax.. and when healthy, more reliable. Vick looked in command of that offense the other night.. i'd be fine with more use of McCoy anyway.. more balance isn't a terrible thing.. makes sense with a RB of that caliber. I wouldn't offer a lot for him.. but if I could pry him loose to a RB desperate team for someone like Andre Brown.. you have to figure Maclin's a good buy low target IMO.
  24. CookieG

    Spiller

Not to bag on Spiller's worth, because he's clearly proven that he can rip off a huge play, just about anytime he touches the ball, but have you watched the Bills play when they both get carries? Spiller is simply not the inside runner that FJax is. Period, won't ever happen, simply not built for it. FJax is still a tough, slashing, nose for the extra yards kind've inside runner. FJax is the kind've guy that only misses two games after L. Landry hits him in the knee. He's a tough SOB. Spiller's the kind've player who takes a big shot to his front and sprains a should joint. Love the kid, but Earl Campbell he is not. They'll both limit each other's upside, but on that wild n' wooly for FF, Bills team.. they both have a lot of value. And expect FJax to get most of the GL work and carries when they have a lead. They have different skill sets. I have both of them, I love Spiller's upside, but from a purely real football standpoint, he can't do some of the things that FJax can.. they'd be dumb not to use them both as they do.
  25. CookieG

    Ryan Williams

I know Colston can be frustrating.. but if he's reported as healthy, how could you bench him if you knew they might be playing from behind all game? I can see hooking him for some great matchup play, but did anyone pimp Williams versus a stout and underrated Fins run defense this week? A top 4-5 run D. Barring health issues with his knee or ball security issues, Williams should be useful and maybe wind up being a farly steady RB2 if he really peaks. For now, he's got matchup RB at best, written all over him. And this week v. Miami was a crap matchup. Shoulda prob played and had faith in your near stud dude. You'll get 'em next time.
