Are you PPR? When you get points for receptions, this strategy can be effective ... especially if you're targeting guys like Woodhead and Pierre Thomas in the mid rounds.

12 team league ... Hillis drafted in the 14th.

Clark owner too. Picked up Dixon a few weeks back for insurance on Gore. Damn you Westbrook. Exactly what I was afraid of ... To add to the misery ... I lost by .48 points tonight which drops me to fifth. Gore's last 5 yard run called back on a flag would have given me the win and stuck me in 1st place at 8-4. But, I'll refrain from going all Steve Johnson. The Lord and Frank Gore have both been good to me, in bad times and good.

San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts

Really people? You have to know that starting VJax on his first game back had boom or bust potential. Don't act so surprised. -
My league has instituted an interesting system. We've removed the waiver system entirely. At the end of every week, players are re-assigned to teams so that the total scoring for each team is always equal. Everyone finishes the season 0-0-14 and we all go to the playoffs and win the Superbowl. It's totally fair.

I have the exact same dilemma. Here's what I settled on ... Dreessen. 1. Minnesota is the 5th best in defending against TE's (Olsen's opponent). Jacksonville is like the 8th worst (Dreessens opponent). 2. Olsen had at least 1 reception in every game last year ... but has gone several games this year without a catch. Olsen has only 21 receptions on the year. 3. Dreessen was the most targeted Texan last week with 8 targets. 4. Olsen did have a TD last week ... against the WORST team in the NFL versus TE's. The Bills average one TD per game to TE's. I think Olsen was just a great matchup last week. Honestly, I don't think either is a great play. There are no guarantees, but it feels like there are more reasons to be optimistic about Dreesen this week IMHO.

1. Limit add/drops to roughly 20 per season. 2. Create a by-law that restricts churning the wire. FYI - some sites like Yahoo will return any player added and then dropped within a 24 hour period back to FA status.

Houston homers: What can you tell us about Joel Dreessen? He had a decent week last week (5 for 66). With Daniels out this week against Jacksonville, is he in line for a big game? FFToday has him moved up their board to to the top five. Do we have reason to be that optimistic? I see he started a couple other games this season and was hardly targeted ... but has a couple games with 8 targets and a few TD's.

I'm crossing my fingers. I'm also starting Steve Johnson and Calvin Johnson so it's hard to know which one of those four to sit. Garrard has a knack for not playing well when he's "supposed to" ... doubly so for Simms-Walker. It's a roll of the dice and I feel like I'm betraying Mike Williams a little in doing so. MW has been really solid as a WR3 all season.
-
After starting him every single week (I drafted him) I am sitting MW this week for ... Mike Simms-Walker. But I'm also starting Freeman (Rodgers on a BYE) so this is more about diversifying my portfolio. Also, All of MW's bigger games have been on the road this year.

West coast team traveling to the east coast and playing the early game is a recipe for underperformance. But, we're talking about the 49'ers here so underperformance is par for the course. I won't be surprised to see Carolina win. I'm starting Gore and Craptree.

Mark under ... Never bench your studs. With Drew Stanton no less.

Vikings "very close" to acquiring Randy Moss?

Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I was just looking at so .... WHAT THE ######?????? -
Didn't see this quote in the thread, but per CBS Sportsline referencing a quote Jamaal gave to the Kansas City Star ... Charles admitted to the Kansas City Star that he's the backup to Jones. “I don’t have any complaints,” he said. “Hey, man, as long as we win games around here, it doesn’t matter to me.” Head coach Todd Haley dodged questions about Charles' role on the team, saying only that the team has "a clear-cut plan for how we want to start the game, how we want to do things.”

I love it. This bored has turned into the scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail ... "Bring out your dead!"

I think the issue here has to do with expectation. Disappointment with Mathews is high because of his ADP. I would argue that drafting a rookie - ANY rookie - in the first or second round is a high risk / low reward proposition. It's an incredible gamble with such a valuable pick, and even if it does pay off, it still just "meets" expectation. It's not like we've never seen busts come out of the first round, but I think it's silly to be surprised when it's a rookie. Having said all that, I think it's way way WAY too early to toss out Mathews. There's plenty of opportunity for him to emerge.

Aramoshodu: Drafted 7th round by the Dolphins. Cut by the Colts, Texans and Redskins before landing on his 5th NFL team, Da Bears. Diamond in the rough? Sure. Raw talent? Sure. Maybe not as good as you'd like to think despite a couple good games? Possibly.

I accidentally Calvin Johnson.

This guy. If you have the #1 waiver you pray ... PRAY ... for a scenario exactly like this. (All apologies to Grant owners and Grant himself). The "starting-RB-goes-down-with-year-end-injury and-reliable-backup-takes-starting-job" scenario. Normally, if you start with the #1 waiver you end up getting "stuck" with it for too long, crippled by the fear that next week someone huge will drop on the wire. In the meantime, your league gobbles up all the Mark Claytons and Jermaine Greshams out there while your bench stagnates. If Grant went down preseason, considering McCarthy's high praise for Jackson, I'd say Jackson is a late 5th rounder. Regardless of need, you just got a starting RB on a high scoring offense ... for free. You need to throw a virgin into the fantasy volcano and thank the FF gods. PLUS ... there's always a lot of waiver activity the first three weeks. Watch you waiver priority creep back to the top by week 3!

Alex Gibbs quits as Seahawks O-line coach

Didn't the Bills Offensive Coordinator quit or get fired about this time last year? It's definitely not a good sign.
