About Platoon

  1. I've been working on this baby for 3 years now. This year I actually coded it and posted it up to my new website I'm working on. I'll eventually create a couple tutorials on how I did it, but you guys don't care about that. I thought I would let some you eager guys like PEX take a looksie and see what you think. Feel free to give any suggestions. www.dataxperts.net/NFL/SOS_Grid.aspx I may take it offline later to keep my edge. I've loaded the NFL 2007 schedule and the top 100 players based on old stats from last year. The key to this is deciding which defenses stink against either air or run, and also the few that are stellar for stopping run or air. This data is somewhat predictable by looking at last years stats and the player trades made. However, there is always some team like the Vikes that come out of the woodwork. Early on, I didn't believe they could be that good against the run. Later on, I might have benched a stud RB against them. I have a table that stores the data as follows. Strong against run BAL DEN MIN PIT SD Weak against run ARI ATL CLE HOU IND KC NO NYJ OAK STL TEN Strong against air BAL CHI TB Weak Against air BUF CIN DEN GB HOU MIA NE NYG SD SEA SF STL TEN Check out the dropdowns (self explanitory) and notice the player has a number by their name. ie. for QB, Steve McNair has a 9 by his name. That represents 9 sweet weeks against patsy air defenses. You'll get the idea of how this can be used. If you guys like using it, I might keep it up if I get some good discussion as to which are really weak and strong this year.

    Ronnie Brown Update

No link yet but go to NFL.com and click on the Dolphins page. Then listen to the Saban interview. Saban said he did real good. Would ease him in and use both. Crapola! I have to decide between him on Monday and Green tonight against the #1Defense. What to do?
  3. With Djax out, I find myself resorting to backups for the championship game. Jennings is my #3 guy and Kevin Curtis #4. Jennings laid a goosegg this week. Anybody know why he isn't getting the looks? Is he hurting more from his injury?

    Risk trading for Portis?

Keeper league where Edge was my main keeper. I've got Edge Kevin Jones Ahman Green Wali Lundy Andre Wayne Fitz Bruce The offer is Edge Wayne Fitz for Portis Santana Moss Keyshaun I like the deal if Portis is playing. I would have KJ, Portis,Ahman and Andre,Santana,Bruce at WR Can start 2 RB and 2 WR Is it safe to do this trade or would I be throwing my team away?
  5. This Ahman in/out stuff is getting like Denver. I read he's out, then bench him and he puts up 30. Anyway, he's out this week. Who's the best replacement, and why. Morency, unproven first start against tough Def. Jennings, Favre is hot and like his new toy. Moss, Two crummy teams playing, moss best player on field. I'm Leaning towards Moss 1st, Jennings 2nd, Morency gotta see first 3rd.

    ***Calling all CHEESEHEADS***

I followed Houstons situation this season and it wasn't that he couldn't beat him out. Wali was Kubiaks pick and Morency was left over from the last regime. Morency was the better back, but his style didn't fit there. Keep an eye on him in GB, he may be the future.

    Deshaun Foster

I'm an Atlanta homie and can tell you that the ATL Defense is vastly improved for pass rushing and has lock down corners. However, the speed LB's they added don't tackle much. Teams will fear the air and abuse the run even more this year. Deshaun will make Atl look bad on the ground. 100 yds+ and at least 1 TD.

Didn't draft a DEF, now which RB to drop?

If I had to drop one, I would drop R Williams or Duece Mc. However, if I were high on my lower guys, I would try to bundle one of my better guys such as Bulger, Matt, Gore or even a better one for the WR Studs. Check out the rosters of the other guys and look for a team with either a weakness at QB or RB and target them if they are strong at WR.
  9. Platoon

    Ronnie, Tiki, Chester or Deshaun?

Deshaun is going to go off against Atl. Atl is all pass D and Carolina will abuse the rush D.

    Bench Ronnie vs. Mighty Pittsburg?

Doesn't that mean it may be a lower scoring even though? I could also see Miami blowing past them and then giving Ronnie the ball to run the game out.

    Flex me!

You gotta go Gore vs. Az. That is always a high scoring matchup. Gore will get ground and air, and most likely a TD.

    Bench Ronnie vs. Mighty Pittsburg?

Sorry, posted to wrong board see http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=227896
  13. Is Ronnie unproven enough to put him on the bench in order to play the better matchup, or would you just lock Ronnie in every week and not blink an eye?
  14. I know about never bench your stud. Since Ronnie isn't quite a proven stud yet, do you bench him in favor of the huge matchup benefits and start Chris Brown vs. the lowly Jets??

    RB Difficulty of Schedule

I put more value in the defense matchups for weeks 13-16. For the rest of the season it doesn't matter if you lose a week here or there, but once the playoffs start, you had better get on a hot streak. The trick is figuring out accurately which teams have improved their run d. For me, even better than a poor run d is a good pass d combined with a poor run d. Every coach will figure out its time to feed the RB today!
