    MNF Announcers?

thanks. so do you know who is announcing the raider game?
  2. ajmplaya69

    Steven Jackson owners..

I made him the number 5 overall pick in a PPR league (LJ, LT, Shaun, Tiki went first) and he looked great against a stingy D. He ran like a man possessed.
  3. ajmplaya69

    Picks #4 and #21 or #11 and #14 ?

Do it! U can grab a guy like Rudi or Ronnie or Westbrook (PPR?) and the best WR.
  4. ajmplaya69

To all my fellow 4th pick holders!

OK S Jax was a top 10 back last year in a PPR scoring system. There is no reason to NOT believe he wont better that under an offensive scheme targeted more towards the running game. Plus Jax has a better QB (please dont tell me Eli and his 52 % completion rate) and a better wideout crew to work with and an easier division.

    Portis

Meanwhile, some of the changes he’s considering include Clinton Portis. Anita Marks of ESPN 1300 Baltimore had some very good points about this injury. She experienced a similar injury as a football player and mentioned that the ligament in the shoulder has really no elasticity. This means the injury permanently stretches the ligament, which creates a likelihood of recurrence. It’s also not a one-week injury and she’s speculating he probably can’t lift his arm over his head at this point or for a while. Another point Marks made about Portis is how this will effect his running style once he’s “healthy enough to play.” She astutely describes Portis as a runner that has excellent body lean—his pads are over his knees which allows him to stay low, deflect hits, and get extra yardage when a defender wraps up his legs or body. The shoulders and neck tend to be the sorest parts of a runner’s body after a game because this is where the brunt of the punishment occurs. Portis could be more vulnerable to injury throughout 2006. In fact, he’ll likely have to wear a harness to start the season. So a partially dislocated shoulder makes Portis a greater risk to wear down this year. The Gut Check had Portis as his #2 RB overall—probably higher than most—although the injury isn’t only a partial dislocation, it still knocks him down a bit. Yours Truly still believes the Redskins back has the potential to put on a show this year, but he’s no longer as much of a lock to perform like a back in the upper half of the first round. So anyone actually think Portis is not a top 5 pick, especially in a PPR league after this injury.

    Portis

His playoff sched is good but makes me wonder if he'll last so long.

    **Official Raiders at Vikings Thread**

Richardson getting goal line carries a trend or just a one time anomoly? I think I might have to bump Chester down my rankings.
  8. ajmplaya69

    Barber = Ahman Green?

Ummm he had the same o-line the year of the reduction from the year he had 1800 total yards. I also agree with the Tiki assessment. I got the 5 pick in a PPR league and I'd take Lamont or Portis over Tiki. However the Edge selection is quite risky and something I'd advise against unless drafting late 1st.

Fantasy Football - LUCK or SKILL ?

Agreed playoffs are pretty much luck and random.

    FFToday projections

Not to mention Randy Moss being ranked so low. Kinda wacked out. Also if you've read Crank 4 and the RB Heavy work load article, I"m still confused why Tiki is so high.

    Draft Buddy/Projections

OK so I went on thefootballguys.com page and downloaded their draft dominator for free (you have to pay for the latest updates). Anyways, I was curious if anyone has used this thing before and what are their thoughts? Also, how would you compare it FF todays compiler/draft buddy? You think the SOS is updated enough on a regular basis? Any flaws? I've never used the FF Today draft buddy before. I'm pretty much going to either purchase the compiler from here or use the free one with my own updates manually put in just trying to decide. Thanks.

    Draft Buddy/Projections

Just an update I ran an entire mock through footballguys DD manually (yes im crazy) and its pretty solid as long as you edit the projections to your liking. Also, I wouldnt use their projections so its best advised if you are the type of manager to use a fantasy sites projections as your main source of drafting, you should purchase the compiler from here.
  13. ajmplaya69

    Tiki or Edge

Edge SOS is easier but I'd take Lamont over both (read the lastes article on fftoday about RB work overload)

    PPR

    Lamont Jordan.
  15. Less load for Jordan and Courtney Anderson catching 60 balls? Also Gabriel is the number 2 now. http://www.ibabuzz.com/raidersblog/?p=69 Walsh speaks, touchdowns result July 30th, 2006 By Jerry McDonald NAPA _ Maybe it was just a coincidence, but on the same day Tom Walsh was finally allowed to speak to the media, the Oakland Raiders offense broke loose in practice. OK, it was for certain a coincidence. And to say the Raiders offense broke loose would probably be overstating the case. But Walsh answered questions and the Raiders converted a few big plays in the passing game, so all was right with the world. He may have been away from the NFL since 1994, but Walsh, whose coaching pedigree is all about power football, is good with at misdirection with the media. Walsh didn’t answer a lot of questions directly, but divulged enough of his Sid Gillman roots to demonsrate why Al Davis had no problem signing off Shell’s pick for offensive coordinator. Lo and behold, there were hints of that offense in Sunday’s lone practice. It’s virtually impossible for an untrained eye to determine who is beating who in the running game because there is no actual tackling, but an extremely shaky Oakland passing game was suddenly transformed into something resembling a vertical offense. The biggest play came on a 40-plus-yard scoring strike from Aaron Brooks to Alvis Whitted which so delighted Randy Moss he mocked the defense which has been torturing his offense in a profane but entertaining manner. “Hey, that (bleep) was easy, `O,’ Moss yelled back to his offensive mates as he trotted through the defense on his way back to another huddle. “That (bleep-bleep, bleep) was easy!'’ OK, it loses something in sensorship, but Richard Pryor would have loved it. Moss seemed to having a grand time, swearing at himself for a drop over the middle, latching on to one sideline go-route for big yardage and giving Brooks credit for both throws, “Nice throw, AB.'’ It may have provided a lift to the offense that their No. 1 offense was intact for at least a few snaps. Robert Gallery was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform List and ran with the first team at left tackle before giving way to Chad Slaughter. LaMont Jordan, out for two days with a bruised right quadriceps, got some work at running back before being replaced by Justin Fargas and Rod Smart. That first team offense with a two-receiver set is not including Jerry Porter at the moment. Doug Gabriel is on the field with Moss, although Porter was in on three-wide receiver sets. Whitted also got considerable slot work. When practice ended and the Raiders ran sprints in three separate groups across the width of the field, Porter finished last in his group on all four sprints. Backup quarterback Andrew Walter didn’t want to call it a breakthrough day for the offense, he would concede, “We’re getting there.'’ While an ESPN story reported Porter was upset with Walsh’s hiring, Moss had no problem bringing him into the fold Sunday. As the Raiders were running their sprints, Moss shouted, “You should be running with the offense, Tom Walsh!'’ While going through a post-practice stretch, a low, booming voice over the fence began shouting, “Raaaaaidders!'’ Moss yelled, “Homeboy doing all that yelling, what’s happening?'’ There was no reply. “Oh, so now you’re quiet,'’ Moss said. It was just one practice, but for a change, the offense was finally getting a chance to do a little talking. Even the offensive coordiantor. Bits and pieces from Friday’s lone practice: – Shane Lechler cut loose with a series of cloud-scraping punts, some of which carried more than 70 yards. “I had a good day,'’ Lechler said. “I had one (lousy) one, but I hit more good than bad.'’ — Fullback Zack Crockett (back) rejoined Gallery and Jordan, but FS Stuart Schweigert suffered a groin strain of undetermined severity and left practice. With Schweigert out, rookie Michael Huff got plenty of work with the first unit, paired most often with Jarrod Cooper. — Al Davis, in Detroit last week as part of a committee to help select the next commissioner, made his first appearance at practice. Shell chuckled when asked if Davis had been following the action closely on film. “Now you think about that question,'’ Shell said. “He knows the players on this team. He watches every single snap, studies every single play. Takes a while to watch the tape, takes three hours. but he watches every single player and he can evaluate every one of those players. That’s what he’s done all those years.. – Tight ends continue to be popular targets. If Courtney Anderson remains healthy, he should catch at least 60 passes. “Basically, we’re running the Raider offense the way it’s been run when you go back to the 60s, 70s and the 80s,'’ Walsh said. “Whether it was a Raymond Chester, or Dave Casper or Todd Christensen, or Ethan Horton or Mike Dyal or Bob Moore, you can go back as far as you want in the annals. That’s just the same offense, really.'’ — Jordan can count on getting a series off now and then, giving way to Justin Fargas or another running back. Walsh had some issues with the way former coach Jon Gruden worked rookie running back Carnell Williams. “You go through your stats and look at you roster, who’s going to go out there and play 65 plays a game for 16 weeks? You can’t handle it,'’ Walsh said. “I had to laugh, I did some Auburn games when Carnell was down there, when he was in the Southeastern Conference, (the Bucs) run him 35 times or whatever, I’m thinking this poor guy’s not going to make it through Week 3 . . . You just can’t do that. You can’t put a load on a guy, and expect him to be a hammer.'’ — Walsh sidestepped the question of who will call the plays, saying it’s a process and a lot of people have a hand on it. It’s an old Raider tradition, which reached the height of absurdity when Mike White, Joe Bugel and Jim Fassel would each contibute plays into a mish-mash of an offense that fell apart in 1995. The Raiders would never identify a play-caller when Ray Perkins was offensive coordinator in 1997. But fear not. Shell gave Walsh up. “Tom will call the plays,'’ Shell said. A straight answer. See how easy that is?

    Draft Buddy/Projections

Ya I'm looking at the projections from here and inputting some of them into the draft dominator by football guys since it was free (sorry mike and mike). So far, so good but it is a lot of hassle. However, I feel I'm going to be editing the projections anyways regardless of me purchasing a software that updates it for you on a regular basis so why not just use the free one and update my projections manually right? Anyways, thanks for the replies I think I definetly prefer FF todays advice regarding fantasy football but the football guys do help out in the free initial DD. I'm gonna run another mock and decide if I want to stay with the free one or just end up purchasing one. If anyone is going to purchase a software, fftoday is the cheapest.

The big 3 RBs after the BIG 3 RBs (PPR)

If your playoffs are wk 15 and 16 Portis and Jordan are looking goood. Also I compared these two with Tiki and Edge (why isnt edge up for debate?) and Edge has the best SOS. Tiki is all bad. 1)Portis 2)Edge 3)Jordan 4)Tiki

    Porter asks for trade

Raider fan and local bay area resident here. -No way Oakland will let him go for less than a 1st rd pick -I'm sure Porter will end up playing the rest of the contract anyways due to these requests -Oakland just gave him $13 mill signing bonus last year. -Porter is a diva and I'm sure him and McNabb will fit real well lol -Porter is 1st rd material. He just needs a great QB throwing to him.

Lamont Jordan 4th overall in PPR league?

Lamonts playoff sched is nice also (st louie and kc at home) Art Shell always runs the ball more Lamont has only room to improve this year, especially in rushing yardage and TDs. Portis has question marks such as: -Cooley taking red zone looks -New Offensive Coordinator (good sure but had a hell of an Oline in KC) -Add WR weapons taking looks/opportunities -Immensely improved Division All in all, in a PPR league you gotta go with A)Tiki B)Edge C)Lamont

    Tiki

Sun 9/10 Indianapolis 8:15 pm Sun 9/17 at Philadelphia 1:00 pm Sun 9/24 at Seattle 4:15 pm WEEK 4 bye Sun 10/8 Washington 1:00 pm Sun 10/15 at Atlanta 1:00 pm Mon 10/23 at Dallas 8:30 pm Sun 10/29 Tampa Bay 1:00 pm Sun 11/5 Houston 1:00 pm Sun 11/12 Chicago 1:00 pm Mon 11/20 at Jacksonville 8:30 pm Sun 11/26 at Tennessee 1:00 pm Sun 12/3 Dallas 1:00 pm Sun 12/10 at Carolina 1:00 pm Sun 12/17 Philadelphia 1:00 pm FIRST ROUND PLAYOFFS Sun 12/24 New Orleans 1:00 pm SECOND ROUND PLAYOFSS Phillys Run D is looking a lot better by aquiring Darren Howard and the drafting of Broderick Bunkley. Something to take into consideration for playoff matchup Week 15. I know this a bit jumping the guy in a playoff system this is crucial.
  21. ajmplaya69

    Tiki

In a PPR league with playoffs in Weeks 15-16, I see a guy like Edge (easier schedule) or Lamont (young legs/new offensive emphasizing power run game) being just as solid a pick with nicer playoff matchups.
  22. ajmplaya69

    Tiki

Well I will say Tiki is a beast in a PPR league so there is my one positive about him. I'm not sure if I would put Rudi ahead of him in that scoring system. Seriously that sched is pretty bad.
  23. ajmplaya69

    Drafting 6th

IF its PPR Tiki is the way to go. No PPR thats a toss up.

For those interested in Lamont Jordan

Shells Projected O-Line LT Gallery LG Sims C Grove RG McQuistin (Rookie) RT L. Walker Can someone give me an official ruling on PUP? Do you have to sit out till Week 6? I dont think thats the case.
  25. ajmplaya69

    LaMont, Rudi, S-Jax

I have the 5 pick in a PPR league and I'm considering taking Lamont over Tiki.
