    Tiki

Every great RB breaks down eventually, and it is no strange coincidence it happens to be around the age of 30-32. Tiki has been pounded the past 4 seasons and lets not forget his small body frame. Also, Jacobs was bad at short yardage situations so its only a matter of time till he gets better and steals more TD's. Furthermore, Tiki had a ridiculously easy sched last season. This year will be tougher with two matchups vs a Philly D-line revamped, no NFC west opponents, etc. A guy like Lamont has a bit less risk due to his age and new offensive system emphasizing a power running attack.

5th pick who would you take?

So I'm 99% sure those 4 will end up going first so I'm stuck in between Tiki and Lamont. Keep in mind this is a PPR league, 15 yds rec/rush per point and 40 yds pass per pt (makes QBs dime a dozen). Playoffs in Weeks 15 and 16 are pretty good for the most part but SOS rushing wise not so good. Any advice?

5th pick who would you take?

First off I dont feel this is a stupid question. Second, if you look at the league scoring system, based on last year this is the end result. Tiki 1860 rushing 9 rush TDs 54 receptions 530 rec yards 2 rec TDs 266 pts Lamont 1025 rushing 9 TDS 70 receptions 563 rec yds 2 rec TDs 229 pts. Last 4 yrs Tiki logged 357, 322, 278 and 304 carries. Think that will take a toll on a 31 year back? What about goal line vultures? Also Shell is going to put a higher emphasis on the run game. And, Lamont missed two games last year. Aren't the defenses in the AFC West a bit softer than the NFC East? Lets not forget this year the AFC West gets to play the NFC West to add to other things.

    Strenght of schedule

I beg to differ. We all know the niners, arizona, houston will have ###### defenses. Its useful to use that within rankings especially during playoff weeks. http://www.fftoolbox.com/2006/strength_of_schedule.cfm

    Portis vs. Jordan

Well KC twice a year is a pretty shitty Run D. But no, I was referring to the fact the AFC West gets to play the NFC West this year which benefits Lamont.

    Portis vs. Jordan

Portis max rec totals is 40 with Washington. Jordan had 70 last year. Thats a 30 pt differential which comes out to 5 TDS or 450 yards (15 yds rush/rec per point). Think Portis can make that up?

    Portis vs. Jordan

Portis has a tougher schedule. Lamont goes up against the shitty NFC West. 1480 projected rush yds is pretty close to 1500. Also, the skins loaded on new wideouts, perhaps maybe to throw to them than rather run the ball=less opportunites for Clinton.

    Portis vs. Jordan

What about a PPR league? FF Todays Projections: Jordan Rush Yds 1,174 Rush TDS 10 Receptions 65 Rec Yds 492 Rec TD 2 Pts 244.1 Portis Rush Yds 1,480 Rush TDS 10 Receptions 28 Rec Yds 240 Rec TD 1 Pts 200.7

    Lamont Jordans Receptions total?

Ya plus Moss will be healthier this year so he will get more looks. Just wondering how much will his receptions drop by.
  11. ajmplaya69

    Lamont Jordans Receptions total?

L Jordans value in a PPR league is tremendous. With that being said, does anybody feel he is not a number 5 RB in this format. Will Brooks effect his receptions by scrambling instead of dumping off?
  12. ajmplaya69

    Tiki Barber...

In a PPR league, u have to take Tiki over Portis. In fact, Ive been playing in one for the past six years and I have the 5 pick and would rather take Lamont over Portis. Portis doesnt get too many catches and plays in a tougher division fyi. PPR league rankings round 1. 1. LJ 2. LT 3. Alexander 4. Tiki 5. Lamont 6. Portis 7. Brown 8. Edge 9. Westbook 10. Steve Smith
  13. ajmplaya69

    Brian Westbrook

Prubully Tiki at 4 and Lamont at the 5. Wheres Portis and Steven Jackson in a PPR league?

    Strength of Schedule!

Hold up, anyone who thinks SOS doesnt mean anything is straight retarded. You think the Jags wouldve gone 12-4 without that chump easy schedule? Its quite evident they didnt belong in the playoffs after the beating NE put on them. Teams like SD wouldve been more fitting but beat up on each other in AFC West. What about Alexander scoring 27 TD's without playing in the NFC West? While some might say it is overrated, SOS shouldnt be disregarded on draft day. I know this site does a SOS rating but I'm not sure when it is coming out this season but yeah does anyone have any other sources regarding SOS?
  15. ajmplaya69

are you realistic with your projections?

    Great post.
  16. ajmplaya69

    Brooks to Moss?

Who is to say Andrew Walter wont beat him out by the time Brooks throws a pass the opposite direction of the line of scrimmage?
  17. ajmplaya69

    Marvin Harrison

Yeah lets not forget that Holt plays in the NFC West....crappiest division ever.
  18. ajmplaya69

    Marvin Harrison

Umm Holt still has Isaac Bruce right? and Bulger? I'd take Holt over Harrison based on the last two years.

    Managers in PPR Leagues

Got the fifth pick and I'm assuming Tiki will go 4th so I'm targeting Lamont. Guess is a beast in a PPR league.

Does the Madden cover curse scare you?

Lets not forget the Super Bowl hangover curse. Lets look at the past teams who have lost the super bowl and how theyve bounced back next year. Also losing Hutchinson adds to it. U gotta take him but I'd try trading up.

    4th pick?

    Projections show Edge/Portis on the cusp of the 1st rd in a PPR league. Lamont put up solid stats and missed two games. Who knows how many more receptions he wouldve recieved if he played all 16? Plus added emphasis by Art shell on the O-line this year. Larry Johnson KC 3 391 1,955 21 41 365 2 325.7 LaDainian Tomlinson SD 3 317 1,457 16 55 420 2 282.1 Shaun Alexander SEA 5 331 1,655 22 21 155 1 273.7 Tiki Barber NYG 4 309 1,481 8 64 520 2 253.4 LaMont Jordan OAK 3 273 1,174 10 65 492 2 244.1 Steven Jackson STL 7 273 1,258 12 47 333 2 227.1 Ronnie Brown MIA 8 315 1,355 8 50 330 2 216.3 Brian Westbrook PHI 9 185 815 5 69 620 4 214.7 Rudi Johnson CIN 5 360 1,585 13 17 110 0 204.0 Clinton Portis WAS 8 336 1,480 10 28 240 1 200.7 Edgerrin James ARI 9 248 1,140 8 51 357 1 198.8

    Nice job on the projections!

Why is Donald Driver projected to be a top 10 WR? Is GB schedule that soft? Also, Randy and Santana Moss that low? Raiders seem to have a nice schedule ahead of them.

    Fantasy Football Playoffs

I feel that fantasy football playoffs is a horrible way to determine a league champion. A team can simply dominate the regular season and yet have one bad week in the playoffs and lose all the hard work and skill of managing a roster week in week out based on that one week. Anyone have any solid suggestions on what other valid points I may present to have my league vote down this system and simply adopt a regular season scoring format?

    Fantasy Football Playoffs

First off, I would just like to say thanks for the amount of replies I've recieved for this post. "If you check the player's consistency on a week to week basis, it should give you a more balanced team and not use the problem you've encountered to change up your entire league's system". By using this method, I'm sure your squad will end up with a more balanced team (i.e. Corey Dillon type player two years ago over C-Mart two years ago) however it still doesnt eliminate the randomness involved in the playoffs. By saying a "Dillon" type player will give you 10 points every week it doesnt stop a lower ranked team to have a "CMart" type player from blowing up randomly during a playoff week. Sure the chances of using this method increase your probability of having a more consistent team, but whos to say a consistent team will fair better in the playoffs when there is always the chance of the lowest rated playoff seed to blow up out of the blue. If your going to bring up consistency, playoffs are pretty much the opposite of this by being all in all random. Forecasting matchups is also not a sure fire way to prepare yourself for a playoff game. I can attend to this by presenting my lineup from last year: QB Warner at Houston WR Holt vs Philly WR Santana Moss vs Dallas WR J.Smith vs SF RB Edge vs SD RB Moats vs St. Louis TE Shockey vs KC K Rackers at Houston DEF Jacksonville vs SF Outside of Edge, everyone on this roster had a favorable matchup. I had to start Edge, cause well hes Edge. Ofcourse, this lineup ended up not producing and I bowed out to the lowest ranked team in the playoffs thanks to a random blow-up week. Also, the argument of having fantasy football come as close to imitating the real NFL system is straight up ridiculous. The NFL offers higher rated seeds home-field advantage during the playoffs while the fantasy football doesnt offer this benefit. The NFL also offers higher rated seeds bye weeks during the playoffs and fantasy football doesnt offer this. To present a an option of giving higher rated seeds more points sounds fair but it still doesnt come close to replicating a playoff system when there is no way to offer he "intangible" advantage of having a bye week rest. I like the idea of playing out an entire season presented in the last post with a point total standing, win-loss record standing and head to head but if this is only done throughout the year. But please dont give me its the nature of the beast arguement or tell me its like the real NFL thing when we're all forgetting this is "fantasy" football.
