Surprisingly, I just looked up the percent of home owners that are mortgage free and it’s nearly 40%. With the interest being tax deductible for the most part, and rates being low for a good part of the past two decades, I’m of the thought it makes sense to have a mortgage. Especially when the market has given a 10%+ return. It’s a no-brainer if you re-fi’d when rates were sub 3.
