No. All the whining about Penix getting drafted at 8 like the Falcons are supposed to assume Cousins is indestructible and a defensive lineman was going to be the difference in them making the super bowl will induce a Cousins injury since when the vast majority of people all agree and are overly confident in a future they can't predict are always wrong. It's simple cause and effect.
-
You guys have learned nothing. The very fact that you're so sure Penix won't play ensures Cousins will have a concussion by week 4.
-
So if they think Penix is awesome, they should pass on him because draft pundits don't think he's good enough for the 8th pick.
-
No one even considers Josh Palmer might actually be good.
-
Quarterback is the most important part of the team by an exponential margin. Getting that position right is the most important thing any team should do even if it means you have to take two swings. The whole paying cousins thing is goofy. That's the market rate for a QB. He moved the needle more than Penix would and is orders of magnitude better than Ridder, but saying you can't hedge that bet is just goofy. Like when I car insurance no one is saying, "well why are you driving if you think you're going to get in an accident?"

I don't get all the hand wringing. Argument 1. If you thought Cousins was going to get hurt, why give him 100 million? Well, if there is 50/50 chance he gets hurt, is it okay then? What about a 30% chance? What about 25? Then is it okay to invest in the backup? It's not a binary thing. It's okay to hedge a bet at the most important position on your team. Argument 2. It'll hurt cousins feelings. So because the guy that always looks out for himself and takes the max he can get, and only signed a 4 year deal with you because he knows it's the last money grab he'll get might not like some competition since it might have an effect on his paychecks, the Falcons aren't allowed to take a guy they view as a franchise QB? Argument 3. They should've drafted whomever I think they should've drafted because that'll help them win now. A defensive tackle or cornerback isn't making them a super bowl contender. Those guys might move the needle a half point if they turn into studs. QBs are worth 4,5,6, maybe 7 points a game. It's okay to make sure that position is secure. And for the record, I'm not sold on Penix. I think his injury history is too much of an impediment, but if they graded the guy that highly, they can take him. It's not that big of a deal.

Clown ass mfer still following me around trying to convince me I didn't see what I saw.
-
This is why I don't engage with you. Trump didn't have vaccine mandates. Trump didn't even have lockdowns. He left it up to individual states and the blue states went crazy
-
Take the hint, dude. You're a lost cause. The biggest thing I need you to do... Are you ready? STOP VOTING FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DO STUFF LIKE IMPLEMENT MANDATES. you clowns claim you don't support it, but you vote for it.
-
People die dummy. You don't wreck everyone else's lives because of it when you don't even have to. If you had covid, why the hell would you need a vax? The whole thing was dumb. People with common sense said it was dumb as it was happening. Your team did exactly what you're doing here. It's not a big deal. I don't really support it, but just do it. Well we only threatened your livelihood. It didn't get taken away because you actually fought for it. Gosh I don't see why people would be mad when we still control everything. Golly gee.
-
I had a vax mandate at my job and if I wasn't so god damned good at it, I would've been forced to get vaxed. Instead my boss pulled some strings to get me exempt. I could've faked it, but I was like, nah, I'll just sue if they fire me, but igotworms didn't think it was prevalent enough, so I shouldn't be pissed still that his team put my job at risk over some BS. Dude is a clown.
-
There were no mandates. Fūcking clown.
-
Fūck all of you that didn't stand up to your masters to prevent these draconian lock downs and mandates. Yeah, your team probably gave a half hearted statement against the overreactions buried in a sea of qualifications or silent compliance. Nah, your team was given correct feedback in real time that shìt was sideways and the answer after fighting it for two years was, "oh well. We tried our best." Nah mfer, your "best" fūcked everyone over real good. We ain't forgetting shìt. If that's the best your team has to offer, then your team needs to sit the fūck down and shut the fūck up and let the people who had common sense make decisions.
-
And that's exactly why it'll work out.
-
One of my takeaways from everyone crying about Atlanta taking Penix when they already had Cousins is that Cousins will probably get his foot run over by a golf cart or something and we'll see Penix in this year. That's usually how it works. Everyone cries like they can predict the future and then when they're wrong they say the thought process was still good.
-
I'm not offended, but I can see why people would be. They're saying the skills these people have potentially spent their lives honing is being replaced by a screen. People will get defensive at that.
-
They drafted some competition and that Achilles started feeling better.
-
At least with Penix, even as fast as he is, he never seems to scramble anyway, so he probably won't get hurt that way. I was highly impressed with Penix on most of the games I saw. There were a couple of stinkers, but man he would zip passes right by defenders ear holes some times. He definitely gives his receivers a chance. He's a bit of a throw back in that way. A lot of QBs nowadays want a yard of separation when releasing the ball.

Check the date of the tweet. That was the criticism of Justin Herbert coming out of Oregon.

I think it will motivate Cousins to have a good year just to spite the front office. But as you alluded to, Penix is going to get all the reps in OTAs even though Cousins will be there playing catch on the sidelines, and if Penix looks great, that could divide the locker room. I think Cousins is going to pull the Rodgers after they drafted Love and ball out which reminds me... I don't get why everyone is so frazzled by the Penix pick given the same people were frazzled by the Love pick and that worked out great for GB so far.
-
I still think people are underrating Nix. I get that it was en vogue to hate him because he's older and the Oregon system relied on throws at the line of scrimmage, but he's a QB with great accuracy and a capable but not overly powerful arm. And signs seem to point to him being a football junkie. It kind of sounds like another QB Sean Payton had success with, so let's assume those 61 games he started taught him something, and he's smart enough to dissect a defense and do what his coach tells him to do. That's 3500 and 18 TDs his rookie year and a ceiling of 4500 and 30 by year 4. Compare that to Penix who has serious injury concerns and is sitting behind Cousins for at least two years.

I see Ladd is quite high. I figured it out. Mr. Orth is a Georgia fan.
