I wouldn't call that a good article. There are virtually no real world examples. I guess there is an attempt to hand wave it by mentioning a couple of platforms, but it doesn't mention what threats they meet and what the replacement would be.
Is the idea to replace everything with drones? The military is already doing that. It's a lot more complicated than just saying stop supporting current platforms and build drones. You have to understand the threat laydowns and have a platform that can meet those threats until the newer technology is matured, built up, and there are enough units to replace current capability.
