Muhammad Ali - What am I missing?

He may have been as great as the hype. I'll never know. One thing I know is the media latches on to narratives and the public gets programmed by it and repeats it. I mean look at all the people in here espousing the greatness of a guy that retired before they were old enough to even watch him in real time. So I have no idea if Ali's greatness was a media creation or was based in pure substance. I'm sure it was somewhere in the middle.

Songs you are disinclined to admit liking

And yet, I'm not older than you.

Songs you are disinclined to admit liking

I'm too old to worry about people's opinions of my taste in music.

Caleb Williams is the real deal.

People don't see it yet, but Caleb has a fatal flaw... The fakeness. It's that kind of RG3. He carries himself like RG3. Fake as hell and his teammates are going to see it from a mile away and won't rally around him.

    MNF Discussion: Lions @ 49ers - Week 17

I needed FGs instead of TDs from SF to win my league. I lost

Caleb Williams is the real deal.

Caleb seems to be exactly what he was at USC. Holds the ball forever. Kills drives most of the time, and occasionally makes something magic happen.
  7. Running style quarterbacks don't win in the playoffs very often. A running QB has never won a super bowl. The ideal is a QB who is an accurate, creative, and thoughtful passer that can run when he has to. Vick and to a lesser degree Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen rely on their legs too much. From week to week teams don't cope with the change in style well when the time to practice and develop game plans is limited. In the playoffs, teams get ready for that style and shut them down. Mahomes is ideal. Jayden Daniels looks to have the right mix as well.

    Never bench your studs…..

Broad definition of studs these days.
  9. Elon is brilliant, but don't confuse him with someone who cares about anyone more than himself. He sees everyone that isn't him as tools to be used to advance his agenda. That being said, if he could cut waste in government, good for him. A lot of people in government and government contractors are worthless grifters that just go to meetings all day and produce nothing.
  10. Seems too woke for me. Imma skip it.

Saturday Discussion: Cardinals at Rams - Week 17

Not sure what Cardinals were thinking on that 3rd and 5 throwing a 3 yard slant to one of the smallest receivers in the league in dorch.

I'm not sure the ball came out as rich eisen so confidently proclaims.

Saturday Discussion: Cardinals at Rams - Week 17

First drive by the rams looked unimpressive. Let's see if the Cardinals do their usual force a couple of targets to Marvin Harrison on the first drive to make sure they get his targets out of the way so people won't get mad.
  15. I agree that this yelling at clouds, but ask people with any kind of complexion what race they are, and most will go out of their way to claim non-white status.

    Four way intersections

I keep a set of white gloves in my car for this occasion. I slap them on and jump out and start directing traffic.
  17. Gutter wakes up everyday and thinking what can he do to help others, and for the 5000th day in a row, he came up with argue with people on the internet.
  18. I'm concerned about these games. Especially the road teams. They are asking teams that played Sunday to travel presumably on Tuesday to play Wednesday. This is nuts to me. Not to mention the Steelers and Texans both were on the road week 16, and are now travelling again. I don't understand how players are going to have time to get treatment, and I assume they just don't practice or install a game plan at all. For me that means I might sit Joe Mixon for Jerome Ford. Thankfully, that's my only key Christmas day player.
  19. I forgot about that. That makes me rethink benching mixon for Ford.
  20. The other thing to be aware of... Since it's the last week of the year, I go in and drop all my handcuffs and basically convert my roster to the guys I think will be good week 17 and week 17 only. Well, I know I'm not playing Russell Wilson, but due to the Wednesday games, ESPN wouldn't let me put him as a drop for waivers, so I had to pre-drop dangeRuss to free up the roster spot. Moral of the story is that if you know you aren't playing a guy in these Wednesday games and may want to use that roster spot, make sure to drop them before the games start tomorrow.

Mike Vick named head coach of Norfolk St

I thought the dog fighting punishment was way overblown, but it did make me question his judgement.
  22. I never really thought of Vick as a head coach because my perception is clouded by the dog fighting stuff, but listening to him in interviews, he does seem like a bright and thoughtful person - penchant for dog fighting notwithstanding. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/43079088/michael-vick-named-new-head-coach-norfolk-state

Diontae Johnson waived by Ravens & Texans

Interesting timing considering the Texans play the Ravens in 2 days.
