Yes. The MN State Fair is the best one in the country. We make a point to avoid the two weekends, though. It is tough to navigate 250,000+ people those days.

Yes, in Mpls specifically for the past 10 years. Spent time before that in the 1st ring suburbs.

Most of the rioting was in the south east side of Minneapolis (East Lake St). Always was a shitty area because of the light rail. The far-west portion of the damage was about 10 blocks away from the popular Uptown area. That is the nightlife section for the young 20 something's. Lots of rooftop patios and bars. All few of the retail in that part of town was hit with smash and grab stuff. But the area that burned was/is a heavy Latino/Native/Somali area. Those poorer communities suffered the most.

I live in Minneapolis proper. It is a wonderful city to live in and I have no qualms about raising my two young children here. Top notch entertainment and venues, plenty of different industries and places to work, my kids will get some of the best education in the country, and we have awesome outdoor things to experience. That said, Walz is a complete jackass who will not be getting my vote. He drug he feet during the riots, he pissed away our 5b budget surplus by offering tax rebates (that he then sliced in third), and is in bed with the Tribes. He takes for granted the fact that he gets to put 'DFL' next to his name on the ballot, because he knows all of the limousine liberals in this state will always vote for the party. Those liberals in MN who say the George Floyd death was the most tragic thing to ever happen to them, but wouldn't dare walk around George Floyd Square, or have never ventured into North Minneapolis, and always avoid going down the checkout isle at Target where the Somali girl is working. Minnesota Passive-Aggressive racism at it's finest. The ONLY thing worth a damn that he has passed has been the free school lunch program.
