We just made bongs and bowls. Our Art teacher would let them be fired in the kiln only if we did a good enough job of hiding what it was. He wouldn't fire anything that was too obvious. We figured it was his way of making us creative.

During the 80's and 90's, the Hmong gangs in St Paul were really bad. You will unfortunately get that with 1st generation immigrants who are so concentrated in one metro area. After 2 or 3 generations, though, the Hmong people assimilated into the Twin Cities. Lots of Hmong girls married white guys and blended the cultures. They are generally hard working people who's dads and grandfathers did a lot of good for the US soldiers fighting the VietCong. This remains to be seen if it will ever happen with the Somali's. My gut feeling says no. Their religion and culture is so much more different than the existing makeup up of MN.

The breakdown is $1700 for day care and $450 for after school and non-school day care. The older one will be done with the after school programming in two years when she can just walk home by herself after school is out. The two year old will have 3.5 more years before he goes to kindergarten. We are now just counting down the days when we will be done paying "extra" for child care (we pay a sh!load in property taxes here). We have plans to buy a lake home as a second property which will eventually be our retirement home.

Hey! We had a couple of good baseball teams 35+ years ago and our state University had 7 National Championships 65+ years ago! It's painful.

The child care costs are spot on. We pay about $2150 a month between my 2 year old's day care costs and my 7 year old's after school program. That comes out to almost $26k a year.

Yes, in Mpls proper, even (but in the lily-white area; it is very nice). My Property Taxes went up 13%. They are now over $6k a year for a house that Hennepin County assesses to be worth about $425k. Walz has been an utter abomination. All the limosine liberals here in the metro just love him too. Meanwhile, our $5 billion surplus from a few years ago just magically vanished. Mostly due to COVID, but I bet at least $1b is gone due to mismanagement or theft. It better all come out in the wash. Heads need to roll.
