In the 1859 solar storm event people saw the aurora as far south as Hawaii and Columbia. I think it was unmistakable. NOAA registered this one in the highest level of severity at times, so I also wonder why it took using night mode to see it like this. I could see hazy relative brightness with my naked eye and a hint of hue. 1.5 hours north of Sacramento: https://ibb.co/SmKytMT https://ibb.co/yyVt2LS https://ibb.co/R6Wgp1g

What do you think it is that caused you to want a big brood? I think it's cool. I'm in the neutral camp/a doomer, apprehensive when it comes to bringing kids into the world, but I respect/commend those who know they want this. I wasn't thinking you were looking for a caretaker, btw. Just that if your wife is 20+ years younger, she's likely to spend a significant amount of her years in that role. But in the grand scheme, this hypothetical lady might still find it worth it.

It was just to the notion of him being in the market (should he lose his wife) for someone at least 20 years younger. That makes it more likely that they won't be roughly in sync during their declines.

There are lot of clips of vapid, either jaded or narcissistic young women online, and I think it gives this distorted picture that this garbage thinking/motivation is average woman's nature. So many jaded guys online who marinate in this content. But at the same time, I guess there is more of that in the real world than we would think, and being that we aren't guys who date, we don't get confronted with this a lot. My take is social media is largely responsible for the perception, but it's also a bit organically true, too. Sometimes it seems like Gen Z, at least those not infected with the woke mind virus, are aware and want to right the ship. Young women see these reactions from guys and want to be people of character. That's my hope, at least.

No judgement as it's your preference Volty, but I think if I was a guy, I wouldn't want my wife to be my caretaker for a significant amount of time in my elderly years. Both getting old and falling apart together is actually kind of romantic to me. The other feels slightly pitiful, like you're holding them back.

What kind of pots/pans/skillets do you use for cooking?

Great question, though I'm pretty much just waiting for Bier's $.02. I've been eyeing this company's pans. https://smithey.com -
I haven't gotten into Bitcoin (not sure it's the answer people are thinking) but this goal she's talking about is as plain as day. It's why WEF celebrates China's social credit system. I see building a parallel economy (something tangibly productive) as promising, and there are people of all political stripes working on that. Some frogs are strengthening their leg muscles in hopes of hopping out of this jacuzzi. Other frogs are busy bickering about Team Red vs. Team Blue.

Whether it's an activity, aspect of diet, supplement, sleep habit, or something else - what seems to make the most positive impact? Mine is possibly drinking bilberry nectar. Bilberries grow in Europe and Asia and are in the blueberry family. I'm not absolutely sure yet (gotta get through a couple lady cycles), but it seems to be counterbalancing inflammation. It also contains compounds that promote gut health. Pleasantly tart with a hint of sweetness, 4 - 6 oz. a day works for me; I go easy on it because tannin overload gives me migraines.

How often do you have to get up to pee during the night? eta: assuming you get up for it.. -
Right. Some people on X who have been to many events that she's spoken at are saying this is how she usually is. She's passionate. It was actually more brazen than Meghan Markle-level fakeness, though. Hell, I find Kamala Harris more relatable. Would not have thought that possible.

Even more groupthink/herd mentality-oriented than formerly typical youngsters. Not excited about driving/gaining freedom.

The relentless circus around Trump tends to make me zone out. When I take a moment to absorb the E Jean Carroll stuff... wow. We are doing banana republic stuff. Anyone who applauds that is tragically myopic.

Totally.

Saw that in passing yesterday. So, I know there are climate crisis "true believers" but it's also a gigantic Trojan horse cause for our aspiring overlords.

Squistion, interesting...was that conclusively proven? I'm not familiar with this story. Share a link if possible.

We shall see. Maybe I haven't paid enough attention to say that.

TSDS is up there with TDS. -
I watched the latter part of the Niners game a couple weeks back and had this weird sense that it might be fixed. (Not a sour grapes thing as I'm from Nor Cal). The thing is I know almost zero about football and rarely watch it. So I'd be a very poor person to discern fixed play from organic. I'm curious if older geeks (55+) who've watched the NFL for eons have ever had that thought re: the current NFL.

Seen the words "insurrection" and "coup" about the "January 6" thing often on this site.

A local guy just got arrested for what appears to be pretty minor involvement but the charges are significant. If that was supposed to be an attempt to overthrow government, they were woefully unprepared. Objectively speaking, I don't see how it gets argued that way. Most ill-prepared insurrectionists ever. I wish people would understand it's their partisan animus (and their statism) which allows them to support throwing the book at that crowd while silently passing over the ironically "peaceful" protestors of the last few years. -
It's really simple what bothers me about this. If the majority of everyday people realized this is happening, there would be a passionate call to pause it until it was without a doubt understood that it was safe.
