Our congressman, a dude I've known for a long time, spoke to a small group this past week, and I asked him whether Congress is more bipartisan than the media would lead us to believe. He said 80 percent of Congress are hardworking reasonable people who stay out of the media light and spend a lot of time garnering bipartisan support for bills. It's the 10 percent on the extremes that make a lot of noise to draw attention to themselves in the name of money and power. He's definitely on the conservative end of the spectrum. He said the real work gets done when Republicans and Democrats quietly get together outside the Capitol and figure out how to get sh!t done. It was rather reassuring.
