My first job was cleaning a grocery store meat department after school. It was fun. There was a side of beef hanging in the cooler, and I'd go to town on it like Rocky Balboa. It was great working behind the scenes. Want a sammich? Raid the deli. Want a dessert? Raid the bakery. Then I became a sacker. The sackers knew which customers gave the biggest tips and would try to time things to sack and carry out groceries for the big tippers. There were lots of hot checkers to date. We'd grab some steaks around closing time and head over to the Panjo's Pizza, where they gave us free pizza and beer in exchange for the steaks, which they'd throw on a grill. The store manager let us drink beer while we we mopped up the store. He didn't care if we helped ourselves to groceries, because he'd do the same thing. After we'd left, he get a grocery cart and help himself.

Part of the sackers' job at our local grocery store is to push the cart and unload the groceries for you, and they're not allowed to take tips.

I like to give the cart a hard push post-loading and enjoy whatever mayhem ensues as it smashes into other vehicles or sometimes even people.

I've already owned all that by saying we had a falling out around that time over that but we've since found common ground and patched up things.
