This helps explain the Oakland offense (or lack of it)

Nothing more to add, but boy, did this analogy hit the nail on the head.

ESPN just had a doctor talking about SSmith's injury

In theory they love to run, but they haven't been able to do it effectively since 2003. Seems the past few seasons things have happened to the team to prevent them from having a strong running game. This year, if Smitty misses multiple games, the offensive line can't adapt to losing Wharton, and the defense can't stop the run, they won't be able to run it effectively this season either.

    Taking Stock

I just dropped JAX for STL. I like the cut of their jib, er, the look of their schedule.

    Time to drop Kevin Curtis?

I assume you picked him up to stash on your bench with the thought that if/when Bruce went down, you'd have an above average NFL WR2. If that's the case, hold on to him. Nothing's changed. If, however, you were counting on him to be the WR2 over Bruce to open the season, then drop him for someone that is more likely to be productive for you now.

    Robert Gallery

So after seeing Robert Gallery a.k.a. 'The Undertaker' get thoroughly abused tonight on the line (he certainly wasn't the only one), I just wanted to ask anyone who watches Raiders games if this is a frequent occurance, or just one bad game. I think I remember reading that he's been shuffled around the o-line the last few seasons. Has that hurt his production? Does he just have problems with speed rushers? Has he been a disappointment?

    Point per Rushing Attempt?

Seriously. Quit this league and demand your money back. Fantasy football is supposed to be fun. You will spend the next 3 months being miserable with this idiotic rule. Rules have to be established prior to your draft so you can draft with a strategy. Had you known about these rules prior, you could have drafted accordingly. The guy is cheating you. The point per reception rule is instituted in leagues to give the possesion receiver some value comparable to the deep threat. Point per carry is ridiculous.

    Frank Gore-Sell high?

Yeah, but, notice the caddy, jordan, westbrook owners aren't the ones saying 'Yes, please, take my westbrook. I need Gore on my squad now!' I like Gore. Have him on my team. No one is going to trade you their first or second round pickup for your 5th round steal without a longer track record of success.

jerry porter cheers as brooks get sacked?

Being paid millions of dollars to play a kid's game. What a sorry attitude. We all have to suck it up at work, Jerry.

    Frank Gore-Sell high?

I've got him and I'm going to keep him for now. He's always had a decent ypc. I read that he ran very well in week 1. He has to have another very good game in week 2 before you can think about moving him for someone worth trading him for. Most owners this time of year aren't going to make hasty trades based off of one week. That usually happens as injuries pile up as the season progresses.

Anyone else take Ladanian Tomlinson with first pick?

We have 1/2 point per reception and I took him first overall. There was just too much churn in the offseason for the Chiefs and I thought SA might slow down after all the extra games he played in the postseason. Really can't be faulted for taking any of the first three off the board.

    Aaron being Aaron

I thought the coaching and playcalling on both sides of the ball for the Raiders was horrible. Sticking with the seven step drop after Brooks is getting hammered is ridiculous. Even the short completions to Moss were audibles. Defense staying in nickel coverage throughout the 1st quarter even after LT2 is gashing them. No adjustments. Just pathetic.

    Reggie Bush to be fined?

He'll never cut a check for any fine related to wearing Adidas apparal, I can assure you. The fine will be paid, but it ain't coming out of Reginald's pocket.

    Rams WR's

Tough loss at Navy, eh? I think we'll see a WRBC at #2 WR for the Rams this season. Bruce is the #2 WR in name and will get the start when healthy. Since he's been struggling with hamstring issues all preseason, coupled with the fact that he has a history of nagging hammys, I see Curtis getting PT on par with what he had last season. I think he could exceed what he did last year and become a decent option coming off the bench for teams as the year progresses. That said, I really think Bruce, when healthy, is going to get more looks from Bulger than Curtis even when he's on the field in 3 WR sets.

    Heath Miller Fan Club

He didn't look all that fast sprinting down the sideline (after a perfectly thrown ball), but I was surprised how he kept the distance between himself and the CB chasing him down. Guess he's 'sneaky fast' Anyone remember what he ran at the combine offhand?

    It does not. make. sense!

Shockey or Watson in Week 1

Gotta leave Shockey in. He's proven. Watson is positioned to break out, but let him put some stats up before you bench a top tier TE.

Who is your favorite 'icon' on FFToday?

Dancing banana and it's not even close. Viva la banana!

Gore = This years fantasy bust!

Do you /really/ think he's going to score 8-9 TDs? I sure don't, and I consider myself high on him this year.

    $5,000 CC/DB Survivor Pool

Went with Arizona. I like the extra motivation of opening their new house with a win. When else are you going to pick them this year?

R Wayne OVER Harrison this year?

We'll have a good indication that a changing of the guard is taking place when the defense is rolling coverage towards Wayne a higher percentage of the time than Harrison. I'll be looking closer at that this year. As an aside, I think Reggie is one of the most steady and productive receivers in the game, but sometimes I wonder how much of his productivity is tied to the colts system and Manning. I'd love to see the guy on a team where he had to basically carry the entire load and see if he's a game changer.

    Edge vs. ARZ recievers

I see this as the key. Gameplan dictated by opponent. Running game will get shutdown more often than not because of the moribund O-line. This week, Edge will shine.

So does anyone here like the Miami Dolphins?

Okay, this was just wrong. Thanks for tipping the balance of my soul. I'm going to hell for laughing at that now.

    DJax's value?

When healthy, I figure he's good for around 80+ receptions, 1100+ yards and 7 or 8 TDs, so yeah, depending on your scoring system, that's a solid # 2 RB.

    Steve Smith reaggravates hammy

Steve Smith is a flashlight. Leon is a STAR!
  25. The_Mad_Cats

    DJax's value?

He's gimpy until proven otherwise. There are stories all over the interweb about DJax not practicing and the Seahawks showing interest in just about any WR that hits the open market. Unless you have your own doubts about his health and want to get what you can for him now, you have to hang on to him for a game or two and hope he stays healthy and produces something before you can expect to get what I would consider his true value, which, when healthy, is fairly high.
