    Serious question

Clearly, they don't "need" to do anything. They "should" be fair for a couple of reasons: 1) They're a news organization. There was a time when news organizations were fair with the possible exception of their editorial pages. People are sick of this biased bullsh*t the news community peddles. People just want news organizations reporting the news. 2) They won't lose any lib customers by simply reporting the news. They might gain some conservative and independent ones though. That would benefit the bottom line.

That's not true. The LA Times is on the verge of bankruptcy as are many papers. A lot of that is the movement towards electronic sources but a lot of people are cancelling newspaper subscriptions due to the liberal slant of those papers. No one is asking them to lean conservative, just to be fair.
  3. Pretty sure our founding fathers were all about accountability and caring after one's own. They cared about individual's rights and government not sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong. They would have been opposed to SS, Welfare, Medicare, medicaid, and Obamacare. So not sure what planet you're from.

Anyone still play the old school Atari?

What Honcho said. What MAME does is emulates the original machines the games were played on. So you get a hold of the actual ROM (the program) from the original machine and you're playing the original game. Not some copy of it. The actual game, but on your PC.

I use MAME to play some of the old arcade games. Asteroids is my favorite if only because I had "beaten" the game.

I don't think it matters that much but I'm no expert on hard water. A few more suggestions for you before you purchase. The best pricing I've seen for these things is from Bed Bath And Beyond. Hopefully you've got one of those stores in your hillbilly town. Get a 20% off coupon. If you can't find one just go to their website and sign up to receive their e-mail. They'll e-mail you a coupon good for 20% off one item. So you can get the machine for 20% off. Most of the machines come with a sampler pack of soda, which is syrup to make 1 liter of 12 different flavors so you can see which you like. Also, check their website. I just placed an order off their website. If you buy 9 bottles of syrup they give you the 10th free. I also found a coupon online (freemix) that will get you a free bottle with any purchase off their website. So, I was able to get a couple of free bottles by buying 10 off their site. And they had free shipping. That will help lower the cost for you.

Chicago teachers to strike after talks fail

I believe that largely to be true as well. But, I also don't think that in any profession, especially a skilled one, everyone should make the same wage. It kills the incentive to excel. I had some great teachers and some crappy ones. I think we should reward the great ones, whether the motivation for such greatness is an internal drive or the possibility of a bonus.

It depends how you structure it. Give a bonus pool to principals to reward their best teachers. It doesn't have to be based upon some standardized test that will only reward affluent suburbs.

  10. Washington - 100%. That good enough for you? Or do you want to judge him against the other dooshbags who've been President lately?

I haven't bought it yet but I plan on getting this book the next time I buy from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1603427961/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Read about the book here: http://www.mysodastreamreview.com/ Which is also a good site for reading about the different sodastream machines.

We got one about two months ago. I've got nothing really bad to say for the thing. The positives, bearing in mind that we drink a pretty good amount of soda: 1) Convenience. Each syrup container makes 12 liters of soda. I can bring home 100+ liters of soda in a single plastic grocery bag. 2) Environmentally friendly. You aren't dumping mass quantities of containers in the trash. Just one little plastic container for every 12 liters you drink. 3) Better for you. Even their regular sodas are only 35 calories/serving, as opposed to 100 or more for other sodas. 4) Variety. Not only can you make the 30+ drinks sodastream sells syrups for, but there are hundreds of other recipes you can find on the internet or in books for making your own syrups. You can also buy syrups for the mainstream sodas and have genuine whatever you like, just made at home in your sodastream 5) Ability to tweak the CO2 levels to your liking. If you like a little extra CO2 just give it another pump while carbonating the water. I will admit the the Dr. Pepper doesn't taste exactly like Dr. Pepper but it's still good. Same with the Colas if you're comparing them to coke/pepsi, although it's closer to coke than pepsi. But they're still very good tasting and the slight change in flavor doesn't bother us. Orange, Lemon/Lime, and Root Beer all taste great. Notice I didn't mention price. Sodastream may be about a break even proposition but it's really not going to save you a lot of money. But the other factors make it a great thing IMO and I'd recommend it. I was concerned it would be a novelty but that doesn't appear to be the case and if you read other forums you'll find most people who have one feel that way.
