    Steve Smith

There is no doubt in my mind that this is AWFUL news. I fully expect Smith to be out until after the Panthers bye week...and that's if he comes back at all. I give it a 50-50 shot that he's done for the year. A couple college buddies that live in Charlotte say all the news down there is extremely negative, and the visit to Andrews indicates something very severe. Not trying to spread rumors in here, and by no means do I get pleasure in this. I'm a 3 for 3 Smith-owner in fantasy this year. This could be bad.

So what's the play for tonight?

October 1st is the absolute earliest accoring to reports out of Carolina. And who knows if he'll even be 100% by then. This is a lot more serious that either the Panthers or Smith are letting on. Definitely more serious than a "tweak." In my opinion, I don't see him being much more than an average #3 WR this year in fantasy leagues even when he gets back to the field.

I need Wiggins, Taylor, Janikowski, Williamson, and Lloyd to outscore Gates by 19 points or more. Think it's possible?

    dom davis status

From Rotoworld..... Coach Gary Kubiak acknowledged that Domanick Davis may not be ready for the season. "Shoot, if he's full speed in Week 4 or 5, he's going to help us, but we hope to get him back a lot sooner than that," Kubiak said. Added GM Rick Smith, "There's a chance his knee may never feel like it did before the injury." Yikes. Davis will continue to slide down our cheat sheets. He's likely to be drafted way too early this season. Source: Houston Chronicle
