    McGahee or Holt?

People who cant catch are worthless in real football. It's not the same as a handoff. And I hardly consider it something as minimal as a "touch" Wide receivers have to catch a ball to gain yardage, not simply be handed the ball. In that respect, there's no reason a runningback should be more valuable than a wide receiver, or any other position for that matter.

    McGahee or Holt?

The "reason" fantasy football is RB dominated in YOUR league is because of YOUR scoring format. I think people are slowly realizing that with PPR, player values are leveled out, giving more options in drafting situations, resulting in more dynamic/fun drafts, and higher potential for non-premier draft pick slots to have a good team. In a PPR league, I think Holt, based on his unbelievable consistency should be selected HANDS DOWN before McGahee. Take a look at Holt's game log - his worst game last year was 6-75. More consistent than Steve Smith, and by all means a conceivable #1 ranked WR in all of fantasy football.

    Lamont Jordan

About 2 months ago some Raider homer posted some valuable information about Lamont Jordan and catching passes. HE'S NOT GOOD AT IT. Apparently the reason Lamont caught so many passes last year is because of the former offensive coordinator who left for SanFran this year. I don't really buy the buzz on Lamont this year, but once I heard this and saw that even "Yahoo Fantasy Experts" failed to analyze this fact, I think people should be notified.

Also, I'll go ahead and kiss some fanny here, because the ownage of this post deserves attention

Just what if T.O. actually recovers from the hammy...

I own T.O. and drafted him 1.11, but I think you've made the bigger mistake here Did you intend to follow up "hugh" with "jass" or was this just a typo?

    Lamont Jordan

I really wish the naysayers in this debate brought up any valid arguments. I wanted this thread to be a debate, but all I keep hearing is skewed history behind Aaron Brooks - most likely the worst quarterback in the NFL - and a runningback that started one season under a different OC, QB, and an injured Randy Moss who could easily take 50+ targets away from any player on the field last year if he's healthy. Wait, though, MORON! Jordan caught 70 balls last year! No WAY he's not a pass catching fiend. I dont own Lamont in any of the three leagues I've already drafted in this year. I didn't pass on Lamont in any of the three leagues either. I'm trying to debate, and I'd be polite about it but no naysayer has given any promising info about the pass catching Lamont continuing his one year trend. He's got so much against him matching that trend, and he'll lose thousands of dollars across the country if he puts forth a 30 catch year. By the way, I told my friend about your quote, Football Scooter..."Norv Turner, one of the most competent offensive minds in the game" and he started laughing out loud. I do take it back though. One guy actually offered more negatives than anyone including myself in this thread about the pass catching propensity of Lamont, but based his rebuttal entirely on Aaron Brooks rapport with runningbacks in the passing game. I don't even want to argue with it because this thread is already tainted with bitterness, and I've already been called a "moron" and an "idiot" a couple times, so I'll try to let someone else take the wheel. t.j. you rule.

would you trade addai and rhodes for mcallister?

I we're talking your #3 RB, then no, not at all. If Rhodes/Addai are your co-#2's, I'd say do it.

    Lamont Jordan

This is unbelievable. Are you people just glossing over the content of this thread or what? They lost the offensive coordinator. Do you think the new coaching staff is stupid enough to simply look at last year's stats and say "Yep, 70 catches, lets keep throwing it to him" or do you think they'll actually review game footage to determine his strengths and weaknesses? Raiders homers watched him play, and he was not a "good pass catcher." This is a new offensive scheme, I reiterate, a new offensive coaching staff. You know? Like Mike Martz type stuff? New offensive gameplan, ring any bells? I guess I should also reiterate what the other gentleman mentioned. He's caught one pass this preseason.

Maybe you need to re-read the thread. He had 22 drops last year.

offensive coordinators obviously have no impact on the offense, so I'll agree with people who say he's a good pass catcher and will catch as many passes as brian westbrook.

What do you think it's going to do fantasywise?

Pffft, good luck with that. No way he lasts the season. I'm not touching him with a ten foot pole.

    IDP Rookies

Last year, I followed the Niko Koutouvides/Lofa Tatupu starting battle closely and it reaped GREAT dividends. Some of the premier players drafted in the early rounds are Ernie Sims (already won the starting weakside linebacker job) Chad Greenway (out for the season) D'Qwell Jackson Manny Lawson Kamerion Wimbley Bobby Carpenter Michael Huff Donte Whitner AJ Hawk Etc Does anyone know who has a fantasy relevant starting job locked up and who doesn't? I don't want to pull a Barrett Ruud in my league. Are the DE/LB hybrids (Lawson/Wimbley) worth a look in deep IDP leagues? My league starts 8 defenders. Also, if you have the insight/knowledge, throw in some lesser known defenders that might have won the starting job in newer schemes ie: the Jets, Browns, Vikings, etc

    IDP Rookies

I should probably just do a post search on you! Anyway, I picked up Alfred Fincher after his preseason performance tonight (and Mike Peterson's injury last night). I wouldn't think Napoleon Harris has much value considering he's done nothing in his career, but I'm also starting Al Wilson so who knows.

    Injury Discussion

No, I'm sorry, I failed to mention I took Tim Taylor (My team name is Tool Time) and Mr. Bean as my 25th round flyer picks.

    Injury Discussion

This year, I decided to avoid RBs in my 25 round deep IDP draft. I ended up with two of the most fragile RB's of all time. Fraud Taylor and DeShaun Foster. My backups are Deuce and Rhodes. You know what? I dont care. I think sometimes in fantasy we tend to forget that these guys are human beings, not Madden characters. Most injuries in the NFL are fate, there's no predictable time a guy will go down--it's not a boxing match. But is it? This thread is hopefully a place to discuss how much credit you give to injury history. Also, I might as well mention my QBs are Dumpypepper and Marc Bulger. I guess I'm really behind my injury theory.

    Yahoo IDP Rankings

projection wise i think yahoo ranks them based on OFFENSIVE potential. the top of their listings have guys liek vrabel (TE offensive TD potential) and other kick returners that play defense as well (Terrence McGee). If you go based on pt based projectional stats, I also dont understand their formula because they have perennial monsters like Zack Thomas rated at like 60 pts for the season.

    TD run from McCallister

Yeah, I got him in the 13th of a 25 round IDP draft. Twas a solid pick.

    TD run from McCallister

Why don't we all just agree that this RB situation is a poor man's Denver RB situation 2005. They'll both have about 1000-1100 AP yds, some tds, and will both be lesser #2/3 rb starting options. In a ppr league draft Bush, otherwise take the value that comes with drafting Deuce late.

    IDP Rookies

I've heard about DeMeco Ryans, what about the rest of the Texans LB corps? I'm also completely lost on what the Vikings and Lions are doing with their LB situations. Come to think of it, I don't think I could name one player on the Saints LB corps. They were in a merry-go-round last year and I don't even know if anyone has returned.

Wow, lots of info there, though some of the abbreviations had me scratching my head. Thanks a lot anyways, it's rare to actually get a good response.

    RHODES vs. ADDAI

Aside from the fact that I disagree with some of your rebuttals, you missed my point entirely. It's simply that draft status does not mandate playing time, which seems to be the running theme for fantasy football coaches. It's not like teams draft players for the future in round 3, and leave their premier picks for instant starters. There's a gaping hole left by Edgerrin James--his current backup knows the system and has been on the team for years. The rookie does not know the system, and has played very limited time in the NFL. Like I said before, if Rhodes falters, I'm sure Addai will be rearing his head. If Addai succeeds where Rhodes has faltered, he'll probably start the next game. It would be foolish for any organization, especially with an offense as intricate as the Colts, to start week 1 with a rookie runningback unless their current starter has been dreadful in the preseason.
  23. Leonard Henry -2 Yds

    RHODES vs. ADDAI

Jesus "THEY MUST HAVE DRAFTED ADDAI FOR A REASON" Heaven forbid a team drafts a RB in the first round for depth/insurance or plan to play them in the upcoming years. Can anyone say Chris Perry or Larry Johnson? Willis McGahee? Extensions/examples might also include Steven Jackson; even Ronnie Brown split time with Afroman. Dominic Rhodes is the starter and it's his job to lose. If he performs well during the season, he'll continue to get the majority of the carries. If he performs poorly, Addai will be phased in. Draft Addai if you think Rhodes will perform poorly - sort of like the way people were drafting Frank Gore and JJ Arrington last year. It's a very similar situation, and whatever round so and so team drafts a player has no bearing on whether or not they start their rookie season in the NFL. Want more examples? How about the 49ers drafting a specialty position (TE) with a super high pick and still having him split time with Eric freaking Johnson. Why do people get so worked up over 1st round rookies? I'm pretty sure those who drafted DeAngelo Williams high are already feeling pretty stupid right now. If Foster goes down, more power to you, but dont act like the rookies deserve 20 carries a game because the team picked them at the bottom of the 1st round.

    Kornheiser Keeping Theissman in Check

Theisman's retarded BS is being held in check by Kornheiser. He's actually resisting it instead of accepting it like the other ESPN Sunday Night bozos. JT - "Brad Johnson is the 39th highest paid quarterback, he's not selfish" TK - "Uhh, do you think he WANTS to be that?"
