    Bold Predictions

Chase Edmonds ends up being THE most valuable handcuff pick this year. Good offense that wants to spread it out while still running the ball, and as a Dolphins fan I have serious concerns about Drake's ability to last an entire season as a lead back. Drake will be good while in the lineup, but I'm willing to bet Edmonds starts at least 6-7 games this year and does very well.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - TE Mike Gesicki, Dolphins

Miami fan and resident here...been a while but I'm always lurking. Relative to where this kid is going in mocks as of now he has the potential to be an absolute steal. The Dolphins WR corp is horribly average and the depth chart at WR is downright embarrassing. Tannehill loves to dump the ball short and this kid is ridiculously athletic. I know the track record for rookie TE's isn't great but if there was ever a rookie TE who walked into about the most favorable fantasy situation possible...it's THIS kid in THIS spot. Buy buy buy. I'm the type that typically waits on TE anyways so I'm always on the lookout for late values. For 2018 my TE of choice will be this kid.
  3. Disagree. If McCoy went down there simply wouldn't be much talent on the roster at that position and while Tolbert would likely never be a 25 touch guy, he'd get a big enough share of the pie that he'd be useable in PPR. He's a pretty good receiver out of the backfield and he's good around the goal line.
  4. Couldn't disagree more...he looked great to me. His route running is outstanding and Rivers definitely trusts him. As for guys I'd pick up before the masses try to do so a week or so from now.... Tolbert Conner Jamal Williams Perine Mack Breida Kamara All of them need something to happen in order to be useable...but I think each of these guys would get the majority of the touches if the guys in front of them went down. Some would argue Kamara needs two things to happen, but I'm firmly of the opinion that that Adrian Peterson is washed up. I think only Ingram stands in his way.

For Those Waiting on TE this year

It's still early but I'm sticking by what I said above....I think Clay's got some upside. If you need a TE and he's out there I definitely think you could do worse.

    Andrew Luck

I'd definitely pick him up...you're getting him for free and he's got the talent to be a fantasy difference maker. Worst case scenario you drop him in a few weeks if word leaks he won't play this season and pick up someone equivalent to Eli later on.

For Those Waiting on TE this year

A guy I like REALLY late, like last pick of the draft or pick him up off waivers late.....is Charles Clay. He's always been a talented receiver and route runner, and last year had a nice little stretch with Tyrod towards the end of the year when he put up some damn impressive stats. Minus out Watkins, factor in Boldin's retirement, and couple all of that with Jordan Matthews history of drops and unfamiliarity with the offense and I think Clay could be a waiver wire gem this year.
  8. I've been thinking about this situation all offseason, and while I agree Gore is a definitely a guy who merits a handcuff....I'm still not 100% sure that for this upcoming season Mack is the guy you want. I'd keep my eye on Turbin. He had good moments last year. I need to see more before I'm convinced Mack is the immediate hear apparent.

Loading up on RB's for "upside later season"

If we're talking PPR...I couldn't possibly disagree more. Been doing really well the last 5 years going WR heavy and just taking upside RB's late. If you're talking standard scoring...that's a horse of a different color.

Loading up on RB's for "upside later season"

The #1 guy on my list of late RB's who will have upside later isn't even on the OP's list... I'll be drafting Jamaal Williams from Green Bay all day long in every one of my leagues this year. Call me cynical but I don't see Montgomery being anything more than a situational player over the long haul. Another guy I'm taking in all my leagues is B Oliver. Again, the cynic in me just can't picture a world where Melvin Gordon stays healthy all season again.

Jared Cook is a major key

Would you guys drop Eric Ebron for him as your TE2?
  12. For PPR owners if you can get him 7th round or later....he's the ultimate lottery ticket and worth the risk. It won't be the end of your season if you lose your 7th round pick but if he hits......he can win you your league. So far I've been able to get him in the 8th round in two of my big money leagues, in both cases he was my WR4. Little risk, huge reward...if you approach possibly owning/drafting him in this way it can work. Just don't be the guy who drafts him earlier than the 7th DEPENDING on him to be one of your two WR starters or your starting flex.

    PPR the other RBs

I put Duke in the same tier as Woodhead....and with no hesitation. He shouldn't be lumped in with the other guys you have listed here, he's a clear #2 RB in ppr this year. Hue Jackson loves to use his running backs.

Big Boards from Doug Orth - Version 1.0

I got him in the 10th round of my big money 12 man ppr tonight and couldn't be happier.... I was big on Tate all summer but the disparity in price (10th round vs 4th round where Tate was taken in the same draft) makes Marvin the much better value.
  15. Thanks but to me this is more about Dez and less about Green. In my opinion there is zero doubt Dez is the more talented player. If it wasn't for last years foot injury and Stephania Bell's comments it wouldn't even be close in my mind. I read that thread but it's a lot of back and forth about Green vs Dez. I'm just concerned about Dez, his health, and what people are hearing about progress, limitations and long term prognosis.
  16. I want to believe....and last night looked good. I have the 8th pick in one of my 12 team PPR leagues and I know I'm going to be staring at a decision between Green and Dez. I know Green is the "safer" choice but Dez is one of those guys that can win you a couple of weeks. I'm struggling with this so I'm also curious to hear what others are thinking. You'd think it's been long enough where the foot should be fully healed...but then you hear people like stephania bell from ESPN call him a major injury risk and it makes you worry.
  17. Trust me I understand the reasoning and logic. It just so happens that this is one player that I've known and been watching longer than most anyone on this board so I just figured I'd chime in with my opinion. That's all it is, one man's opinion....and like I said this is one I'm really hoping I'm wrong on cause I want to see the kid succeed. While he will get every opportunity to be a 3 down back, like you stated, I think ultimately his best role on a team is as a change of pace/ receiving back. I'm just not a huge fan of him as a between-the-tackles back to endorse the ranking he's been getting this offseason. Like I mentioned earlier he's turned into a "tip-toer" during his time in the NFL and often doesn't hit the hole with as much speed and decisiveness as you'd like to see out of an "elite" back. With that said....I think he's got 60-70 catch potential. My argument would simply be that's basically the profile that guys like Woodhead and Duke (another guy I know a lot about) share and you can get them both several rounds cheaper. I know many will argue that neither of those 2 guys will be unquestioned 1st and 2nd down RB's the way Miller will in Houston...but there's a huge difference between opportunity and efficiency. i just don't think Miller will be able to withstand the pounding of being a 3 down back all season. Let's see how it plays out. I just wanted to give a different, unbiased take on a guy who's been hyped to hell this offseason.
  18. I can't find the posts (and I'm too lazy)....but years ago on this site and other sites I posted my thoughts on Lamar Miller coming out of college and basically said he'd be a good pro. He's pretty much been what I thought he would be. I've been watching Lamar Miller play since his high school days at Killian High school in Miami. I say that to say this...I find this "consensus" that has been created this offseason pegging him as a no brainer top 5 RB and consensus late round 1/ early 2 round pick to be ridiculous. He's got perpetually bad shoulders dating all the way back to his high school days. He also tip toes at the LOS way too much to ever be an "elite" RB in my opinion. His YPC has been propped up by a lot of 3rd and long draws over the years because the Dolphins haven't had consistent QB play during his tenure. He's a good player, has been and will continue to be...I just feel people building their fantasy teams around him this year are in for a major disappointment. I have every reason to root for this kid as he grew up near to me but I simply in good faith can't get behind this "consensus" opinion that's been branded on him this offseason. He's not an elite back and won't be on any of my teams this year due to his ridiculous ADP. He's got good hands so I think his upside is obviously higher in PPR formats but I just don't think he's a great between the tackles runner. Nothing I saw during his Dolphins tenure (and trust me I've watched every carry this kid has taken) changes my opinion on that. I honestly hope I'm wrong on this one. But that's my honest take.

    Jameis Winston

I have no dog in this fight. Truth be told I'm a Dolphins and Hurricane fan so I have reasons to dislike Winston. I'll say this...I'm liking his outlook for 2016 more and more as we get closer to fantasy drafts. His price tag is relatively cheap and I'm a fan of new Bucs coach Dirk Koetter going all the way back to his college coaching days. For a WR early guy who waits on QB I'm starting to think Winston is the perfect QB2. He's got upside and with the playcalling Koetter brings to the table I also believe he's got a nice floor. I'm not gonna pound my fist on the table and give guarantees but I like Winston a lot this year. His situation looks appealing to me from a fantasy perspective.

    Article: Zero RB Strategy

To each their own and you gotta do what works for you. I'll say this though...I've been drafting with a "modified" zero RB (I always take 3 stud receivers in the first 3 rounds but I wait on QB and TE) and it has worked great for me. I disagree fully with your statement that the "only" way it works is if you load up at all the other spots...you can still wait on QB and TE and put together and very competitive and consistent weekly producing squad. I usually go WR-WR-WR and then 3 or 4 RB's in a row so I'm never hurting at RB and usually squeeze in some high upside guys.

    August 10-Team Mock

I get the concept of a young talented RB in a Chip Kelly system... My issue with Hyde, and why he won't be on any of my teams this year, is because he doesn't catch passes. Even if you go back to Ohio State he was never great out of the backfield. In a ppr league give me a guy like Woodhead or Johnson before Hyde.

    Article: Zero RB Strategy

I've been going WR-WR-WR for 6 years now. Granted all my leagues are PPR but I'm not gonna change what's been working for me just because this is the year every fantasy magazine and site are finally preaching the virtues of taking WR's early. It just means I gotta do a little more homework this year but I still fully believe in the philosophy. So concentrating on the RB's available in the 4th-7th round I'm consistently getting combinations that include the following: CJ Anderson (one of my favorite middle round values) Dion Lewis (obviously my opinion of him could change if favorable news regarding his injury doesn't arise the coming weeks) Woodhead (mr consistency in PPR) Duke Johnson (love him this year) Gio Bernard Matt Jones (i'd only take him if he made it to the 6th as my RB3) Foster (if I take Foster I'm committing to taking Ajayi with the next pick) Jennings (not sexy but he's a starting RB on a good offense) Gore (commit to taking Ferguson later on) Deangelo Williams (you're basically drafting a 4 week rental...if you get lucky maybe more but it's 4 solid weeks). Obviously there are others but these are the most realistic and the ones I like the most. I'm not a fan of Langford (don't trust him), Hyde (doesn't catch passes), Matthews (doesn't catch passes), or Gordon (Woodhead will get all the catches and maybe the GL). If you like any of those guys then obviously add them to the list. Guys I'm targeting after the 7th are: Charles Sims (his situation is similar to Gio's...one of my favorite picks after the 7th round) Sproles (He's still going to catch a ton of passes) Crowell (just in case Duke gets hurt. This pick may as well say "Hue Jackson" cause that's what I'm really drafting here) Ajayi (only if I take Foster) Powell (Forte is old and Powell catches passes) James White (Dion Lewis insurance) Josh Ferguson (Gore is old) Draughn (Hyde doesn't catch passes and gets hurt a lot)

    Jordy Nelson

Call it a gut feeling...but I'm not touching Jordy this year. It's not even the fact he's coming off the injury...nowadays ACL's aren't even that big a deal and guys usually come back with a stronger knee. I'm more worried about the fact he's 31 years old. Could he have one or two good seasons left? Sure. Am I willing to use a later first or early 2nd round pick to find out when that ADP range has other solid options? Hell no.

    Arian Foster signing with Dolphins

Well agree to disagree. Foster will likely get the white glove treatment and won't play much, if at all, in the preseason.....as such I don't see his ADP rising come August drafts unless Ajayi gets hurt between now and then. If anything Ajayi will get more work in the preseason and we've all been playing fantasy football long enough to know that all it takes is one 50 yard run in a preseason game against 3 string scrubs to see a guys ADP's soar 2 or 3 rounds overnight.

    Arian Foster signing with Dolphins

I've been getting Foster in mocks AFTER Ajayi gets picked... So actually I'll wait, and get the better value...at least in my opinion. He's going low enough right now that even if he doesn't pan out it's not going to destroy your team.
