Restaurant chain shuts down nearly 50 locations in California following minimum wage hike
Bier Meister replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
i went to college in san diego late 80's early 90's. origin of fish tacos in the US. they were good at the time. with their growth, quality decreased and prices rose. so it is not bad, but now fish tacos are prevalent and less expensive elsewhere. -

Rubios is ok… used to be good. We had one in our town, but it closed a few years ago. It was hard for them to compete with all of the other taquerias around. -

California's $20 Fast Food Minimum Wage Law Is Already Having Disastrous Unintended Consequences
Bier Meister replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
generally speaking, the restaurant industry has a very low profit margin. finding qualified labor was a nationwide issue prior to both covid and this increase to minimum wage in CA. the dramatic increase in food cost is also a major factor in their success rate. -
Bill Maher: American Kids are Way Too Confident
Bier Meister replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
I think they are out there, but possibly hard to find. Prior to culinary, I was a therapist and worked at many different agencies while attaining licensure (some being targeted towards low income family services). I really do not think that the US opposes the nuclear family, mostly want there to be options. I also do not think single parent households are glorified. -

I don't think providing services to couples attempting to preserve the family as racist per se. Services should be available to lead all families towards success, not just the married households two committed parents is a better environment for successful child development (as is tier of wealth), however, i believe that progressives advocate that it is not the only route to success. -

Val Kilmer While i liked many movies he was in, i thought he was rather cheesy. After watching Val I have a new respect for him and his craft. -

my interpretation is that he is vocalizing his opinion that women were lied to about the whole concept of ambition and professional growth during and by the women's movement for equal opportunity. I believe that he is encouraging them to be SAHM (which i have zero issue with families making these decisions). I am not stating the women should feel bad about SAH. I think he is shaming those who decide to pursue careers.
-
while there are other hot topics in his speech, i am only referencing: “I think it is you the women who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” regrading women's ambition (and related, opportunity)
