2nd tier RB's... rank em and why.

Greedo, I do agree with you on the third tier running back group, but I would add a couple of names to that list. I think J. Jones and W. McGahee could be thrown into the mix there as well. Jones does have M. Barber to worry about, but McGahee doesn't have any competition. I think they are both worthy second round draft choices. A lot of people might be suprised by your choice of R. Droughns, but I couldn't agree with you more. He is the man in Cleveland and he'll get plenty of carries. The guy is a determined downhill runner who can break tackles and get some yards in the open field.

    Which WR should I keep?

    I'd take Fitz.
  7. cldfltr

5th pick who would you take?

Don't be a fool. Take Portis or Barber at number 5.
  8. cldfltr

    Trade: Benson for Tatum Bell

Both are likely to share carries this season, so I can't say I'd be real comfortable with either one as my 3rd string back. Benson has more upside, and will eventually be the man in C-Town.

    49ers

I think Gore would be an intriguing late round pick. With Norv Turner calling the shots, I see plenty of carries in Gore's future. He had a nice yards per carry avg last season as well.

Getting one, but not the other

I think C. Dillon will continue to be the main man in New England. He is not the force he once was, but barring injury, I'd be comfortable with him as a backup.

Oh Yes...I started the LaMont Jordan thread.....

I agree Striker, if I was in a 10 team league where he was still available in the second round, I would be shocked.

2nd tier RB's... rank em and why.

Of course the big three are in a league of their own, so this is an interesting thread to sort out the best of the rest. 1. C. Portis - Joe Gibbs WILL run the ball. Portis also finished the season strong last year with 100 yard performances in 5 of his last 6 games (adding 6 TD's in that span). Plus, with the addition of Al Saunders as Off-Coordinator (Do the gaudy statistics of L. Johnson last year, and P. Holmes in years past, ring a bell) Portis is primed for a huge season. 2. T. Barber - Barber showed the last two seasons that he is definitely deserving of a top fantasy pick. Even when he doesn't score he will rack up a ton of points in yardage leagues. Barber had 2,300+ all-purpose yards last season and three 200 yard rushing performances. Like Portis, he also finished last year strong. One knock on Barber is that he may lose out on some red zone carries to B. Jacobs. 3. L. Jordan - Call me crazy, but I think Jordan might be the most underrated back in fantasy football this season. Last season, he averaged less than 20 carries a game and still managed to top the 1000 yard rushing mark. With Art Shell now calling the shots, I expect Jordan to touch the ball more. Anything close to his 70 receptions for over 500 yards receiving last year is icing on the cake. 4. E. James - First of all, I do think the move to Arizona will have a negative effect on his fantasy numbers. However, that being said, his fantasy numbers the last several seasons have been through the roof. While he doesn't have the high flying Colt offense to play behind anymore, defenses are still going to have to respect the pass in Arizona (Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin). Also, he'll be in the NFC West now (San Fran, St. Louis, Seattle) where he will not face any hard nosed run stoppers. 5. R. Johnson - Productive and Consistant. Do not overlook this guy. He has rushed for over 1,400 yards with 12 rush TD's his last two seasons in Cincy. He is a big durable back (45 strait games), who runs hard close to the goal line, yet has enough speed to break some long runs. Especially if C. Palmer comes back healthy, don't pass up on this guy again. 6. S. Jackson - I am not completely sold on this guy as of yet, however, I will not pass on him if the other backs listed are off the board. With Mike Martz out of the picture, I expect the Rams to run the ball more, and I don't see any competition at the position. My biggest concern is that Jackson seamed to tire toward the end of last season, even though he didn't have as heavy of a load as many other elite backs. If the new offense is successful Jackson could see a huge spike in points, and just hope he doesn't wear down again just as the fantasy playoffs are starting. This is the point where my second tier of backs ends. I would hope to have one of those top nine running backs as my first round pick, otherwise, I will have serious concerns going into the season.

    Just drafted

I like the team overall. Good move getting Winslow in round 13, and I wouldn't even be concerned about your RB depth. You should be fine there. My biggest concern is with your depth at WR. after Williams and Burress you don't have much. See if you can get whoever owns C. Dillon to trade you a decent WR for Maroney. If I had Dillon I would definitely want Maroney as well, so you might be able to use him to nab a receiver. It's worth a try.

Which players a worth the #6 overall pick?

If Portis or Barber are available pick one or both of them, if not, I'd secure a RB for sure with pick #6 (E. James, R. Johnson, L. Jordan). With your #7 pick, I'd have to take P. Manning if he is available. He is on a level of his own at the QB position and with only six teams, you'll get another shot at a decent RB in rounds 3 and 4.

    Keeper league draft help

I agree with everyone that Brown and Williams have the most long term worth, but I'd have a hard time passing up on E. James here. He still has two or three good seasons left. I'm guessing that whichever one of these three you don't keep, will likely be taken with the first pick in your draft.
