    NFC North Discussion

I honestly can't see the lions finishing better than .500, but it seems like every year people predict them to be better than they really are. Overall I would say: 1. Bears 11-5 2. Vikings 8-8 3. Packers 6-10 4. Lions 5-11 I will say though that I think there is a good chance Favre won't end the season as a starter, and if this happens before the last couple games, they'll probably finish last. I think GB has to find a way to get Rodgers some playing time this season and they should be able to difinitively say at the end of the year of they need to find a new QB for the future. PS. Javon Walker is NOT coming back to Green Bay

I guess I just don't see JW as being worth a big contract at this point. You don't become a good team by overpaying poor players either. He will likely have a mediocre year in 2006 and who knows what will happen after that. He has never had to carry the team as a #1 receiver that was THE go to guy, and yet he wants to be paid like that player. I feel sorry for the guy getting injured and all that during what essentially would have been his contract year, but that is the breaks in football. He needs to come out and play this year, hopefully end the season strong and show that he will be fully recovered for the rest of his career and then cash in on a big contract. Whether that is with the Packers or not, he will have a lot more control over the situation at that point. IMO its just silly to hold out in a year that you are recovering from a major injury and will not be 100%.

Javon Walker is NOT coming back to Green Bay

Favre would never have said anything last year if Walker had not first turned the thing into a media battle. Is Favre just supposed to say "no comment" when asked about it? Its not like he was holding a press conference to talk about Walker, he was just asked for his opinion and gave it. I also think that the Packers would have offered Walker a nice extension half way through last season if things were going well. As a player you have to prove that you are more than a one-season wonder before expecting the huge pay day. Walker's injury was extremly unfortunate, for both him and the Packers but that ###### happens, its part of football. In any event, the situation really just validates that the Packers made a good decision... how would it have been fair to pay the guy huge money based on one season only to have him not play. Not to mention, with this guys attitude, I'd be hesitant to give him much garunteed money anyway. Who knows if Walker will ever be the same reciever he was, many people don't come back from those injuries very well. If I were Walker, I'd be pretty pissed off and bitter as well, but at the same time he needs to realize that this is not some unique situation with the Packers. At any rate, I doubt the Packers will get much for him in a trade unless he is really back to 100% already (and how would we know that if he doesn't play?). They will sit on him, and he will come back to play a few games to fullfill his contract so he can become a FA. If he comes back and plays well, he will get a good contract offer from the Packers and if he declines it, he will likely be tagged. If he doesn't play well, he will hit the FA market and get underpaid. Suck it up Walker, come play some football.

    Javon Walker

I guess I'm not even sure what Walker is looking for at this point. Does he want a new contract now? Does he simply want out regardless of what the Packers are willing to pay him? I always figured that this would be his year to negotiate a new contract. Obviously the injury complicates that to some degree, but I still think that could happen. The Packers obviously would want to keep him and not allow him to become a free agent if they can agree on something.

    Most delusional NFL fans

I would say: 1. Vikings 2. Lions 3. Redskins But as a Packer fan, I suppose I don't have much room to talk For the record though, I don't see us in the playoffs this year even with Favre back (he should have retired after last year).

How come no one brings up these contracts:

Qft This was a damn good year to be a free agent

    Adam V to the Colts

Don't hate the guy, he just wanted to go to a team that has a chance of winning a SB in the future.
  9. QFT I don't understand why the league allowed for this type of contract. The precedent it sets is going to make for all kinds of nasty contract disputes in the future.

    Hutchinson case going to arbiter

I doubt he goes back to Seattle, but I imagine they will have to come up with a more traditional contract for him.
  11. Are you kidding me? This guy is awesome - he is a human highlight reel waiting to happen! I predict a 5 year, $50 mil contract for him within the next day or two. No doubt, the Redskins won't be able to pass on adding another underrated wide reciever to their roster as they gear up for their Superbowl run and begin their dynasty era.

    Lions sign Josh McCown

    Huh...

    Packers sign Pickett

DT Ryan Pickett's deal with the Packers is believed to be for five years at roughly $3.75 million per season. In this market, the Packers did well to pay him less money per year than Rocky Bernard and similiar to Larry Triplett. Pickett led defensive lineman in tackles in 2005. The deal should be signed Thursday. Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Why would the Packers want Mario Williams?

I also think Ferguson would be hard to pass up if he was still available at #5. If you figure that Mario is gone already, then either Ferguson or the #2 QB will still be on the table and either of those two should be more valuable than Hawk. I would rather see the Pack trade their pick than take him I guess, think about what they could have with the extra picks. You could possibly end up with a LB (maybe still get Hawk), TE, RB and possibly another impact player all within the first couple rounds - there is a lot of talent out there in this years draft.

    Thoughts Of A Packer Fan...

Sooner or later the Pack is going to have to find out if Rodgers can do the job. The only way to really find that out is to play him. Better sooner than later IMO. But we need Favre to decide what he is going to do - I find it a bit ridiculous that he is sitting in limbo at this point.

    Eagles

Eagles re-signed Darnerian McCants to a one-year contract. He joined the Eagles midway through 2005 and caught five passes. For now, he's fourth or fifth on the depth chart. Thats probably not the earth-shattering news you were looking for though

Culpepper To Dolphins For 2nd Round Pick

That would depend on what they had to pay to move up. If you assume a trade with NO, going from 17 to 2 is going to cost them big time, especially if they are competing with the Jets and/or Raiders who have higher picks this year to offer. I wonder what the 49ers or Packers would demand for their picks though?

    Dumbest move of the offseason

The Charger's mistake came when they drafted Rivvers in the first place. That was a wasted opportunity that could have been better used for a position that they actually needed. After you take a player that high, you have to give him a chance to start so thier fate has pretty much been sealed since then. You would have thought they could have traded one of those guys and gotten something in return though. On McCarthy... meh, I guess we'll see if he can pan out to do anything positive. We may very well have someone new in there in another year or two. I don't think they should have kept Sherman though - not that he is a bad coach, but he inherited a well built team that was basically built around Favre - I don't know that he would be able to make the necessary changes to the team that will need to happen to compensate for the loss of Favre. I also think his firing is a direct reflection of Favre's performance as well... a subtle way of saying, we think it is time for you to retire but we respect you enough that we will never come out and say that publicly.

    Packers sign Pickett

Nice Will be interesting to see how much they paid for him.

    Cpep And Brees Effect

Hmmm.... 1. Texans - Bush 2. Jets - Lienhart 3. Titans - Young 4. Saints - Hawk 5. Packers - Ferguson That would make me happy as a Packers fan. As long as the Jets and Titans are desparate for a QB going into the draft, I think its a possibility.

'06 Cap to be between $92-$95 mil?

Sucks to be a Jets fan... how will they even sign a top 5 pick?

    Packer fans....

The Packers tried to run the ball in a lot of key situations and just couldn't get the plays made. They also had 2 missed field goals which would have made the difference. Obviously the defense was pretty soft in the second half, but that is nothing new - they don't have a defense that can close out games so when the offense falters, they are going to loose. The injuries did play a part and exposed the lack of depth on the team even more, but there is plenty of blame to go around. I think that for many people, including me, this game was a crucial game for the season. They are now really in the cellar of the division and will almost surely be 1-8 by the time they host Minn and have a chance at a second win. Yes Injuries are a part of the game, but we all knew that the Packers were not a deep team and would rely on a high powered offense to win games this year. As the injuries pile up, the offense can't get in sync and they don't have the talent on the rest of the team to pick up the slack. Which leaves the important questions... how long until Favre gets injured, and what kind of draft pick will they get next year?
