    Excellent hire by the Patriots

Agreed. Dom Capers is one of the best D coordinators.

    V Young or E Manning ?

If you were my children, I'd send you to your rooms without Internet. This is a tough matchup for VY against the Jags. Keep him on the bench this week as he gets broken in two ala Madden curse and ride Eli for the rest of the season.

New rule in our league this year

8 teams out of 12 make the playoffs. I do like the rule allowing the #1 seed pick his opponent.

    V-Jax (Vincent Jackson)

Not starting VJ this week against da Bears. Start 3 of Plax Galloway Hackett Curry Vjax I'm trying to find a way to start Curry against Detroit, but I should stick with the first 3.

Collaborative Geek Start 'Em Sit 'Ems

Pittsburgh Start: FWP - Should see quite a few carries Ben Roethlisberger - Has looked sharp most of preseason Ward - Best all around WR in the NFL Santonio Holmes - Time to show he is good enough to be a #1 WR in the NFL Defense - Charlie Frye (like you need another reason) Sit: Heath Miller (the forgotten man) Pittsburgh should come out to set the tone for the season EARLY.

who drafted either Travis Henry or Brandon Jacobs

BJ is my #3 in one league. I passed on Henry because there was always better value at that point in my drafts.

I got the biggest laugh at my draft Tuesday

That's the week Hester will break 2 big returns for a TD.

    Fantasy Superbowl Predictions

QB: Drew Brees (NO) RB: MJD (Jax) RB: Tomlinson (Chi) WR: Steve Smith (Car) WR: Hines Ward (PIT) TE: Cooley (SD) K: Vinatieri (IND) D: Chicago Reasoning: It was pretty simple to pick the team. I just look for the one player at each position that has the greatest chance to out produce his teammates. Brees will get his points no matter who has a big game in the show. You never know which WR is going off after Colston. Jax is going to tear up the league this season. MJD is a TD machine & will only get better as the season goes on....you are looking at a top 3 pick next season you keeper league numbskulls. I love Freddy, but his days are numbered. Tomlinson will garner the lions share of the team fantasy points. See Cooley below. Washington is going to be a contendah this season. RB situation is murky & Cooley is going to be the 2nd best TE in the league this year. I think he may out produce S. Moss a high % of the time. Side note: anyone who put Gates here should think for half a second about matching up Gates FF total vs. the people who took Tomlinson. Steve Smith defines the phrase "He's the man" when it comes to the Carolina team's fantasy production. Hines Ward is the vet who knows how to get it done when it counts the most. Those crazy eyes remind me of Junior Seau every time I watch him play. No one loves the game of football more than Hines. The Vinn is the only Indy player with a shot of out producing Peyton vs. Chicago. I hung my hat on Brees as my QB of choice. Bears D is pretty simple. Between Hester and the ball hawking D, they have a realistic chance at scoring more TDs than Benson and Grossman combined.

Totally unrelated, but I trust you guys.

I wouldn't touch McNabb this year. Scooter opened my eyes (I hate giving props) earlier in the off season. SA could be good, but I am not hanging my hat on that peg this season. While we are touting our other teams... Just drafted in my 10 team guppy league. Sacrificed WR to load up elsewhere. In the sixth round, I could have had Boldin in lieu of MBIII was my toughest decision. Carson Palmer Schaub Stephen Jackson Addai M Barber III Lamont Jordan Gates Daniels Plaxico Galloway DJ Hackett Vincent Jackson Ron Curry I franchised Addai & got Stephen Jackson with the first overall pick. Can't franchise the same player two years in a row...goofy rule. BTW: No! You cannot join my $100 guppy league.
  11. Steel City Blues

Who was the 6th pick in your 12 team draft?

You mean all 3 of Allstott's TD vultures last season?
  12. Steel City Blues

Totally unrelated, but I trust you guys.

I'm a bit late to the dinner table, but Gates is excellent value here. MBIII would make a tremendous #3 this season.

    Any Early Predictions?

Don't think I'm gonna go easy on you just because you forgot to fill your WR roster with studs in a PPR league. It was more a crack on Joc drafting a similar way last year. We were busting his chops when he took RB RB RB with LT2 in his hip pocket. If any team appeared to "reach wildly" it would be mine. I'm the only one here that sees MJD as a viable 1st round pick. Couldn't wait though because he'd be gone before my next pick & I'm trading impared.

2nd raid of Vick's property going on right now...

It will tick me off if Vick posts bail and fleas.
  15. Steel City Blues

Rookies finishing among the top at their position

That is the problem with all the hype over "stud" rookies. I won't have Johnson on my roster because Cotchery is a much better pick. I will wait until late rounds and shoot for a flier WR like Meachum. Lynch and AD could wind up on my roster as a #3 or #2 if the draft drops gems at other positions.

    Fantasy Rankings

Ooooooooooh Burn baby! Mike actually had the best. The other bums won because they ranked kickers & defense better.

    Maurice Jones-Drew ADP 2.07 in a 12

That's the million dollar question. It gets my head spinning trying to pin it down. Negatives Fred Taylor got paid. Jax obviously has big plans for Taylor in the offense this season. Fat, Drunk & Stupid is being hyped as the short yardage back once again. Who is buying this? MJD is part of a RBBC. Can JAX possibly run more (or as much) as they did last season? Don't count on it. JAX wideouts are make Shaq look like a smurf. CODE: They make great red zone targets. Positives Fred Taylor got paid. He won't be as motivated to produce in the twilight of his career. No more big contacts in his future. Fred Taylor turned 31 in January. Senior citizen years for a RB. After week 1, MJD had all of the rushing TDs uner 10 yards. Being the "Goal line back" will obviously keep his TD per rushing attempt higher than normal backs. Fat, Drunk & Stupid has not produced as a goal line back in the NFL. MJD is explosive scoring from over 30 yards out several times. He's a threat to score every carry. JAX is a running team. No gaudy numbers from their QB & wideouts. Sorry Jones owners. I was in the exact same position going into a draft last month. It's a PPR league and most of the projections have MJD putting up top 12 numbers even with reduced TDs. MJD has a high probability of putting up #1 RB numbers again even in a RBBC role. Add in the upside of what happens if Fred Taylor pops a hammy half way through the season & we have a back that can win a FF title for you. I took MJD on the turn at 1.12 / 2.1

    On the Clock!

Neither player is in my top 15.

Rookies finishing among the top at their position

Opinions are like axxholes. Everyone has one and they all stink. The opportunities for the best rooks is better this season than we have seen in a long time. Three becoming weekly starters on a fantasy roster seems likely to me. If you want to put it to numbers, RB has to finish top 24 in points at that position. WR top 36. QB top 12... Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Lynch, Meachum, Jackson, Moss are the 6 players I listed. These were the best off the top of my head, but there are others I haven't mentioned.
  20. Steel City Blues

Rookies finishing among the top at their position

I rarely draft rookies in redraft leagues. The big difference this season is OPPORTUNITY. Stephen Jackson for example probably would have been a top RB if he landed in a starting role as a rookie. This season, we have several rookies in good situations to make an impact. WR Calvin Johnson in pass happy Detroit. Roy will take the pressure off & give Calvin a chance to make a huge impact. Lynch should start & probably isn't stuck in a RBBC role which makes him even more valuable. AD is in a beautiful situation in Minny. Viking RB tend to put up better than expected numbers. Meachum (good shot at becoming a starter) is in FF WR heaven. Your team must be STACKED to bench a starting WR in New Orleans. Jackson - (if he becomes the starter) GB backs gets plenty of carries & their patented screen play passes add more value. The road is looking better for Bush too. Rhodes is out for 4 games. Lamont Jordan has some issues. I would wager at least three rookies will become reliable fantasy starters this season.
  21. Steel City Blues

    D. Rhodes suspended 4 games!

I wouldn't want to have to start any of these guys either. It is hard to get excited about any Raider, but FF gems can come from anywhere. However, Curry has been very successful when he gets a chance. He was actually the 15th best FF wideout (PPR league) over the last 6 weeks. Lamont Jordan was a 1st round draft pick in most leagues last season. He should be a good value on draft day as a #3 or even #4 RB with Bush as a cheap handcuff. Don't reach for these guys banking on a big season, but don't snooze either.
  22. Steel City Blues

    Steelers WRs

It will be Hines & Holmes. The Steelers are lining up Heath Miller as a receiver in some multiple receiver sets. Heath has been under utilized far too long.

    Any Early Predictions?

You've got a good team Joc. Much better than last year. I like the JPWADP rule forbidding the guy with LT from taking a #1 WR until the top tiers are gone then start reaching wildly in the early middle rounds while other teams load up on better value players.
  25. Steel City Blues

    Trade discussions/options

I deletored the trade offer two minutes after it was sent. I thought about it for two seconds and realized it was way off target for LT. As a Steeler fan, I love your enthusiasm for FWP & my team.
