Round 1 = 102 (Hass 11, Jacobs 18, Portis 11, Engram 9, Burress 7, Galloway 1, H. Miller 22, JAX D 14, Bironas 7, Turner 2) Round 2: QB Favre RB1 Tomlinson RB2 F. Taylor WR1 Jennings WR2 Hackett WR3 Chambers TE Witten K Josh Brown D Green Bay Coach McCarthy -
Omar Gaither in the 5th round of 2006 looks like a real good pick too. Reid has final say over picks anyway. Things won't change much if Heckert leaves.

Sounds like she's got a shot. Is she applying to other upper-echelon schools or will she go to a Villanova-type school if she doesn't get in to Princeton? However, it's way more of a crapshoot now than it was when I was going through the process. In 1989, we were at a low point in demographics, and the college-admission frenzy wasn't as crazy as it is now. (Only a handful of kids had "admissions consultants" and stuff like that. Now a bunch do.) There were probably about half as many kids applying back then, and the acceptance rate was something like 15%. Now it's less than 10%, with a much larger pool to pick from. My family's alumni background notwithstanding, I dunno if I'd have been able to get in if I were applying now. This means that many, many kids who have great credentials -- including some who would have been locks 15 years ago -- are being turned away. I don't recall many surfer types when I was there. In any case, hot chicks have no problem getting laid at Princeton, as there aren't many of them.

Oh, and if she does get in, she'll spend her four years banging lacrosse players. I know that type all too well.

Princeton grad who used to do these interviews. Not fishing. (Most kids get interviewed by alumni, as opposed to folks from the admissions office.) These things tend to go best when the student is just being him/herself. Being enthusiastic about Princeton is fine, but overdoing it is a turnoff. That being said, the interview is a very small part of the application. Her grades, activities, awards/honors, and what she writes on the application are bigger factors. (SATs are not, really, as long as they don't suck.) The main purpose of the interview is to draw out things that might not have shown up otherwise.

Posty's pick of Kelly Jo Dowd was genius. -
If this stuff really bothers you that much, you have issues. May I suggest anger management classes?

Bands that have come and gone that you miss
The Total Package replied to Electric Mayhem's topic in The Geek Club
I second a lot of the bands already mentioned and will add: Screaming Trees Failure The Jam Love Battery Uncle Tupelo (though I realize they had to die in order for Wilco to be born) Truly Squire also had a band called Seahorses that made an album shortly after Stone Roses broke up. It was pretty good and it was released in the US. -

I believe he said he dated her sister for so long because he liked her family. He wants an excuse to hang out with the family all the time again.

I thought Phillybear was a Seahawks fan.

Is this "friend" the girl you've been psuedo-dating? If so, she got double-teamed by two guys -- why would she be afraid of any bodily fluids after that?
-
And if you stick around, you can get her a sex toy or porn DVD for Xmas.

Did any of you get married because ...

How did things end with the sister? Would she feel all weird if you started dating this other girl, to the point of causing drama and/or trying to make your lives miserable? That'd be a deal-breaker.

Moose, Class of '94, from the Enterprise Rent-a-car commercial
The Total Package replied to Recidivist's topic in The Geek Club
I don't understand why they started running this again. They ran it all the time in '04. Then they stopped for a while. Now this year, they're running it all the time again -- two years after any "Class of '94" reunion would have taken place. It made little sense then and makes even less sense now. I always interpreted it to mean: the chicks who wouldn't give him the time of day in high school because he was a fat tub of goo now want to bang him because he has a phat ride from Enterprise, even though he's still a fat tub of goo. -

France honors convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal
The Total Package replied to Recliner Pilot's topic in The Geek Club
Did he kill Faulkner? Yes. Did he get a fair trial? No. Does he deserve to have a street named after him? Absolutely not. Are the French jackasses? Yes. -
Great band. There's much to like beyond the "hits" (Beds Are Burning, The Dead Heart, Blue Sky Mine, Forgotten Years, Truganini.) They didn't make a single bad album over the course of their career, and they were a tremendous live act.
