Skip Bayless - DUMBEST GUY ON THE PLANET

ESPN = the official network for Kobe, Brady, Jordan, LeBron, Tiger, A-Rod, Ocho Cinco, Yankees/Sowx, and Bonds (did i miss anyone? help me out) Anything else related to sports = Not interested ESPN is garbage. Does anyone remember that "who's next" series of segments they did? I had it flip it off in disgust halfway through the first "matchup" when Stuart SCott was arguing that Leinart was better then Tiger, though to be honest, I have no idea how they even could compare the two.

Thoughts on a recent trade I did...

Well Thank you. I do see why some folks think Jordan's season is an anomaly but to think its essentially over (b/t injuries and sharing time w/ Rhodes & Fargas) as some in my league do its ridiculous. I think its the short-term memory syndrome that effects many of us in FF. Everyone remembers 06 when he sucked and was hurt, not 05 when he dominated (esp in PPR) Any other thoughts?
  4. I proposed the following trade, which the other owner accepted. As Commish, I waited over 24 hours before executing it to allow the league to give their feedback, as I always do. After hearing NOTHING, I pushed the trade through in time for this past weeks game. All of the sudden I get an explosion of protest calling me a cheater, and that I screwed the other guy, abused the commish office, etc. WTF. Here's the trade: I get R. Wayne and an 8th rd pick for L. Jordan, B. Marshall, and a 12th Standard scoring except all TD's the same, w/ PPR, we get three keepers. Oh, and the owner I traded with only had Jacobs, A. Green, and Foster at RB (we start 2 RB, 3 WR) Funny thing is, here are some other trades that went down that I thought were worse (and got no objections): P. Manning for L. Johnson, C. Johnson (preseason) - by far the worst!!! A. Peterson for T. Owens, C. Benson (2 weeks ago) L. Tomlinson for W. Gahee, T. Owens (last week) Is it really that bad, especially in lieu of other trades that went down without a peep?

    Derick Mason

I believe he's 2nd in the NFL in both targets and reception (behind TJ Housamazilly). I have him in my PPR league, and has been giving me consistent totals week in and week out. Granted if/when Clayton gets back to full strength he'll cut into Mason's production, but at this point he's been my #3 WR.

    Rod Marinelli

Agreed I watched his press conference on FSN after the Eagles games, and thought the same thing. And that was after getting their a$$e$ handed to them. I wish my boss was like Marinelli
  9. Hi Mackgee, Lions fan here. Hope your right about the outcome of today's game. Now, can you leave so the intelligent debate I was reading can continue? Thanks, and here's a lollipop Have a good day!

University of Michigan will win the Big 10

Why are there so many Michigan haters? And don't give me the stereotypical answer that Michigan fans are snobs, or whatever. As someone who grew up a Michigan State fan, and had been conditioned from birth to hate UM I can tell you its simply untrue. Are people that bored they take advantage of every perceived weakness to rip them? As a football fan and as a parent, (and of course because of in state tuition) there is no better school I'd want to send my kid(s) to. How many others are ranked top 30 in the nation academically and have a football team ranked every year (even if for a week)? No one

University of Michigan will win the Big 10

I was at the game yesterday. Although offensively the Michigan game plan was Hart-Hart-(please don't focker this game up frosh qb Mallett)-Hart; the thing that impressed me the most about UM was the defense. Against App St & Oregon. that seemed to play timidly, sitting in a nickel zone, and hoping the front four pressures the qb and/or stop the run. The last two games they've been attacking a lot more, blitzing multiple linebackers and lining up Crable at times as a pass rushing DE, just like what they did with Woodley (BTW - Crable is a beast, and after a slow start himself, has really blossomed into the defensive leader they needed when they lost 5 guys to the NFL). In short, you're seeing a different UM team than the one they opened the season with. And with Hart running behind that HUGE offensive line (I swear Long and Mitchell looked like they could eat the Penn st front four for brunch) and with Mallett only to improve I think they have a legitimate shot at the Big 10 title. The question, as always, is what will happen vs Ohio St. Wisconsin, after 2 straight lackluster weeks, doesn't really impress me a whole bunch, they'll be playing Michigan State for 4th place.

    Lee Evans owners

Yuck I drafted Plaxico, Branch, and Evans as starters; Jennings, Marshall, Crayton, and Mason are my reserves. I'm screwed

Yet another example of not knowing the difference between fantasy football and football.
  14. Detroit Lions - Mike Furrey, WR Most folks seem to think the arrival of Calvin means Furrey disappears. It's hard to envision Kitna repeating the yardage he had last year w/o his favorite security blanket. Roy is the deep threat, red zone, and 3rd and long target. Calvin is the up and comer, future pro-bowler Furrey is the move the chains guy. After this year he may very well vanish, but I think until Calvin gets fully up to speed in Martz's offence, Furrey will have respectable late round value, esp. in PPR

    KEEPER League Controversy

That's how we did it a few years back. It had mixed results. Expansion Team #1 did nothing but b!tch about it the whole year, resulting in the league booting him out after the season was done (and with another owner deciding to hang it up for completely unrelated reasons, we went back to being a 10 teamer) Expansion Team #2 won his division and made the playoffs before losing in the semifinals. He's still around, and a good owner. I think it prolly depends on the quality of the owners you're bringing in, and whats available.

What type of prison does Vick go to?

WRONG Part of dog fighting is breeding dogs to be inherently aggressive. They do this by abusing dogs, beating them, kicking them, cutting them; in a word INJURING the dogs deliberately, and THEN, having the dogs fight one another. The ones that do well in fighting while hurt they breed, with the idea that the pups, trained properly, will be the dog fighting champions. The ones that don't do well, they KILL, through the above mentioned procedures (hanging, drowning, body slamming (!), and in some dog fighting rings, a gunshot to the head). Disgusting and despicable, to kill an animal, just because it couldn't fight well enough AFTER they were tortured.

    2nd round RB's...

I disagree on Rudi. In PPR leagues I think you have to drop Rudi down (I have him at #15 in pts in my PPR league, even after projecting 1250 and 12 for him running the football) Not much of a fan of McGahee either (for the same reason) I like Edge, Brown, and MJD (esp the latter in a keeper league) HTH

What type of prison does Vick go to?

I don't think you have be "a card carrying PETA member" to think it's pretty deplorable the way dogs in these operations are treated. I for one am not but as a dog owner (a mutt adopted from the humane society) I am VERY appalled and offended by Vick and think what he did is sick and deserves 5 yrs (the max sentence).

    PPR Projections/Rankings

You can enter your own custom scoring into the FFT projections. I play in a PPR league and thats what I did to get a baseline for determining my projections.

why florida will win BCS title game

All of the arguments defending the SEC in general and Ark & Fla in particular miss the most obvious point. Fla is NOT in the national championship game because voters, fans, whoever like them better. It's because said people like Michigan WORSE. After the Ohio St. game Michigan was still ranked #2 in the nation. Immediately all discussion arose about a rematch. It became quickly obvious that such a scenario was undesireable, from either a sense of fairplay or a consideration of TV ratings. Because of this, voters immediately looked at who could move pass Michigan. The rest of the season was thus which team could overtake them. A number of candidates came to mind: Ark, Fla, USC, Notre Dame, and maybe an undefeated Rutgers. Michigan was forced to wait and hope that every other potential contender could lose in order to justify their position. The issue became NOT whether Michigan was good enough, it was whether every other contender was. Michigan, for their part, could do nothing to help themselves, they had finished their season and were ranked 2nd in the nation. Any other year that would have been good enough. But because of the potential rematch past rules ceased to apply... Rutgers was blown out by Cincy, there goes a Big East candidate. Arkansas lost to LSU, there goes their shot. Fans nervously looked forward to USC-Notre Dame. The talk beforehand was already if USC won they would leapfrog Michigan. Notre Dame was a long shot, they had already been spanked by Michigan. Voters, pundits, and the media were all rooting for USC - someone had to emerge as the "NOT Michigan" candidate. To their relief, USC won. But then the unthinkable happened. The leading "NOT Michigan" candidate lost, and to lowly UCLA at that. We needed a new "NOT Michigan" candidate. All that was left was Florida. Yes, if they won, they would get it. Even though, to date, they were still behind Michigan in the standings and Michigan still hadn't played since OSU. They rallied back to beat a one-dimensional two-loss team and the voters were satisfied, they could now confidently change their vote to Fla. What does this whole charade prove? Was Michigan better than Florida? The Truth is, IT DOESN'T MATTER. TV got the game they wanted: Ohio St vs. NOT-Michigan. That is why Florida is there: they emerged as the only viable contender besides Michigan, every other choked down the stretch. And viable was enough this year. Interesting questions emerge, however. If Florida had played BEFORE USC-UCLA, would they have passed Michigan in the rankings? What if Michigan had played AFTER everyone else? Or if Michigan-OSU were the FIRST game of the season? In order to provide full disclosure, I live in Michigan, though I am (unfortunately) a Michigan St. fan, but in this case I am of course rooting for the Big 10. I am not "bitter" at the decision, in fact, given the above will of the media and voters that emerged after Michigan's lost I understood them dropping out of the title game to be inevitable. That being said, I think it sets a dangerous precedent in College Football, where TV ratings and voter happiness trumps seeing the two best teams play for the title. And yes, I say two best teams, based on the fact Michigan finished their season ranked #2. This is using a purely objective criteria. The only solution out of this is of course a playoff. This is probably two much to ask of Gator and Buckeye fans but I think the public should add significantly to the clamor of switching to a playoff by BOYCOTTING EVERY BCS GAME. DON'T WATCH ANY OF THEM! Go Chips & Broncos! (they are the only Michigan teams I will watch)

Ouch!!! What are you talking about?!?! When the Lie-downs beat Buffalo we were talking Super Bowl! In fact I think it was our Super Bowl! Good job boys, take the rest of the season off... P.S. Is it baseball season yet?

Who Should Play Ohio State for the National Championship?

I for one find it hard to annoint someone a shot at the championship if they schedule I-AA teams. True Michigan plays a MAC team every year, and USC is in the PAC-10, but both are better than Western Carolina. And for the record they schedule 12 games, the 13th is a conf championship. I also find it ridiculus all this talk of a bias against the SEC. How is it 5 teams get ranked in the preseason top 25 every year and the conference is underrated? The Big 10 is lucky to get 3 in the preseason polls (Yes, I'm from the midwest). The SEC is always overhyped as being the best conference. The big issue here of course is the need for a playoff. I don't think anyone could make the argument against putting Michigan in the title game based on numbers alone, being that they lost to the #1 team in the country by 3, in Columbus, and no other team is undefeated. Of course, all we hear from the pundits how "they had their shot" and "no one wants to see a rematch" or analysis of projected TV ratings, neither of which is relevant if the issue is seeing the BEST 2 teams play for the title. Unfortunately, that's not the case in college football, which is why we have this silly system in the first place. Of course, putting Michigan in the title game will probably illicit protest from the West Coast media and SEC diehards, who can each make the case for their own representative, regardless if USC lost to an unranked team, and Florida squeeked by S. Carolina and Vandy, two teams worthy of MAC status, and they would be entirely justified in doing so. The point is this: putting or not putting Michigan in the title game is equally defensible and equally deplorable, the only way out is a playoff, and the only way that will ever happen is if the fans demand it. I for one will be enjoying the bowl games this year. However, I WILL NOT WATCH A SINGLE BCS GAME. I encourage everyone else to do the same.
