  1. i like it man...this level is who we need to be talking about. We know the early rounds, its the middle tier analysis thats key right now.

    well done js

Mason, Coles, Rod Smith, Keyshawn, McCardel, Bennett, Givens, Bryant, Glenn, Bruce, Moulds, Jurevicious, Horn etc

these guys are key to anyone still going with "Stud RB". (probably me)

Agreed. I'm having the same problem, trying to figure which mid-round WR can start. Keep up the good work guys with the insights.

  2. A lot of discussion has taken place on this board about drafting RB-WR or even WR-WR due to the lack of depth of solid RB's.

For those of us who adhere unwaveringly to the Stud RB Theory or are in dynasty leagues (like myself) where a significant number of WR's are being protected, where does that leave us at the WR position after the top guys are gone?

For example, I honestly see maybe 15 guys who are either surefire #1's for a fantasy team or a borderline #1/solid #2:

    S. Smith

    T. Holt

    C. Johnson

    L. Fitzgerald

    M. Harrison

    T. Owens

    H. Ward

    A. Boldin

    D. Jackson (assuming he's healthy)

    C. Chambers

    P. Burress

    R. Moss

    R. Wayne

    D. Driver

    R. Williams (perhaps a stretch, I am a Detroit homer:) I admit it)

After that, I see nothing but a group of guys surrounded in question marks who will be relied on to make significant fantasy contributions as #2 or #3 WR's. I'm looking over the following list and I'm not sure if I want any of them to be my #2:

    D. Branch - (holding out)

    E. Kennison - (not sold on any WR's in KC's office, at least this high)

    M. Jones - (only 2nd year, still learning the position)

    R. Smith - (getting older, plus now has J-Walk to compete with for the #1)

    S. Moss - (perhaps the safest pick on this list, but anyone with brunell throwing him the ball scares me)

    J. Galloway - (getting older)

    T. Glenn - (ditto, plus TO should (if he ever practices) be the #1)

    D. Mason - (reunited with McNair, though aging as well)

    L. Evans - (Had him last year, no way I'm drafting a Buf WR)

    L. Coles - (no way I'm drafting a NYJ WR (sorry Pennington fans))

    T. Houshmandzadeh - (How will Palmer's injury effect his #2 target?)

    A. Johnson - (burned me last year, not sold on Carr or his line's ability to protect him)

    D. Stallworth - (currently in the doghouse, not a surefire #1 on his team)

    J. Horn - (getting older, not a surefire #1 on his team)

    J. Walker - (Is he recovered? How many looks will he get with Smith and the running game)

(This completes the list of top 30 WR's per this website's projections, default scoring)

What do folks think? Are there relatively safe picks at the WR position after the top 15 are gone? Or should we all just draft a zillion RB's and then depend on WR sleepers?

I'd love to hear thoughts on this issue.
