How much should I bid on Kerry Collins?

I don't get the immediate thinking that Collins is going to give Manning like performances just because he is now the Colts QB for an unforeseeable amount of time. Why spend so much on him? I also don't get 2 QB leagues but you already have Romo and Stafford and Henne as a backup. Not wild about Henne but he is still decent as a plug in. I would only bid on someone if you start having problems. Why spend so much on Collins now when you are not positive how long he will play and I would not expect him to have Peyton like numbers. He might but i think it is foolish to think so. Peyton is the colts. Collins will not plug into his spot and become the identity of the colts. they will have to play and win as a team without amazing performances at the QB position.

    Can you beat this?

I am not saying it was a bad choice but my response is just looking at what I think is the current situation with Manning and how it affects your team. I understood you took him before the news got progressively worse. One thing to note is we all know how the media can blow things out of proportion and by week 2 or 3 Manning could be in there throwing 3+ TDs a game. So you took Brees in the third? That really isn't bad but it just means the obvious that going RB, RB, QB means there will be some weakness to the WR position (on paper anyways before the season starts). But you helped yourself by getting Witten especially if you are in a PPR. In my draft I did not get anyone that really fell like that on my team. Guys like Felix Jones and Kenny Britt went in the 7th round to other teams before I could get them but not sure if they fell that much. 12 team league.

I agree with whoever says it is a possible blown pick. There is a chance he will play later in the season and perform well, but right now there seems a good chance the colts will sit him until he can get close to 100%. Colts are not going to risk it with him. Right now I see he is not practicing and will miss the opener (at least espn is saying he is listed as doubtful and since 2002 for the colts that has meant not playing). But, who knows, maybe Manning will play and perform at a high level and you can trade him later if you need to. Right now you have 2 QBs who you think are awesome on your team. Well you can only play 1 at a time. So a lot depends on if he is ok and can play well, and then you have to find someone to trade him to if that is your intention. Looking at your roster in your sig I think you could have skipped getting Brees and you could have some 2nd round level WR talent because right now your WRs are not that great for a 10 team league. Then later you could have targeted a QB like Stafford or Bradford in later rounds, and then in your draft you would have been able to get the value with Manning in the 7th. That's the problem with taking a QB early but Brees is usually a sure thing. I think if I take a QB that early in a ten team league I make sure I don't draft another QB until much later. You took 2 in 7 rounds. I don't care if it is Manning, but that affects your WRs and RBs strength.

    Patriotsfatboy1?

It amazes you that I noticed a spelling mistake? I only read your post once. You are telling me to get a life outside of my computer when you just won a signature change bet with someone on a fantasy football forum? Haha I was just joking around anyway. You have a good day too.

    Fantasy ethics

Turftoe was saying the general person would probably say the league was sh*tty if they forgot to submit a lineup and then the previous week's lineup was used, and then one of the players from the previous week's lineup was on a bye in the current week's lineup, and then by your rules they could be expelled. It's a little confusing. The first part of that rule 6C says if they don't submit a lineup then the previous week's lineup will be used. What if one of those players from the previous week's lineup was on a bye in the current week's lineup? Would you expel them? I think I would want it to be like most online fantasy football systems. If the lineup is not complete (meaning a position is not filled with any player) then it is not a valid lineup. However, if the position is filled by a player on a bye then nothing is done about it and that positon gets 0 points. You have to draw the line somewhere about how you try to control the teams.

    Shaun Hill

If I had McNabb I think I would be playing him over Hill. I have no choice - my QB's are Hill, Delhomme and Garcia. I know it looks inviting but I don't know if it is that great of a play - even though St Louis sucks they are better against the pass than the run. That being said we know Hill gets lots of completions and the running game is hurt. The Eagles game is a game that matters - they lose another game they are def out of any playoff talk. StL and SF have no chance in hell - they are just playing to play. Anyways, I am starting Hill so I hope he has an awesome game!

    FU Andy Reid!

Wasn't that play with around 4 seconds left in the first half? If they don't make it time runs out and they get no points.

Has anyone ever lost like this?

My bad it was not live scoring. I agree with you - I would be mad at whoever their host is. And I would also be manually calculating the scores again just to make sure. Nothing the commish can do since the owner did it to himself.
  10. QB Shaun Hill WR TO - drafted him unfortunately WR Muhammed or Breaston RB Turner - drafted RB Deangelo - drafted Flex Thomas Jones - drafted TE Zach Miller K NO kicker Def/ST Tenn - drafted I barely made it into the playoffs - have had a great second half of season but really bad first half.

Has anyone ever lost like this?

I would think before deciding to bench Akers the owner had the time to manually calulate the other team's and his own team's score to make sure the live scoring was correct. He didn't do that and the scores obviously were not correct, so he loses 3 points or whatever and loses the game. His loss. And I think it is dumb to count misses for kickers. Does that league also give negative points for QB incompletions? Or for dropped passes by WRs?

What I HATE about fantasy football...

I would love to say it takes skill to play this game but it is mostly luck. At one point in the season I had a 3-6 record and since then I went 5-0 to finish the season and made the last playoff spot because the #4 guy lost 3 games to end the season. All he had to do was win that last game to get in because then he and I would have been tied and he had the most points but he lost that game by .5 of a point which put him in 5th place. This past week I beat the #1 seed that had the highest points for the season and now I am in the championship game. It is mostly luck and having the hot team at the right time. I drafted Deangelo Williams, Thomas Jones, and Turner and they have been awesome in the second half of the season.

    I just noticed this....FOCKED UP!

Why negative points for any misses? Do QBs get negative points for incompletions? Do WRs get negative points for dropped passes? Negative points for fumbles make sense because the WR, RB, or QB had control of the ball and lost it. Same with interceptions because the QB turned it over. Don't let scoring get out of hand. Just stick to the basics.

I am benching Deangelo Williams for.....

I am benching him for Larry Johnson too. I have 2 RB spots and one WR/RB spot and I have Deangelo (against TB), LJ (Denver), Thomas Jones (SF) and Turner (NO). I hate to bench a player as good as Deangelo has been lately on a Monday night at home but I think LJ can do better than him. Tampa Bay is tough against the run and we know all about denver. I hope we are right.
