  1. My quote was supposed to say NY liberal media market, fwiw. Maybe because i'm listening to ESPN NY on 880 AM radio in my area, I honestly don't recall hearing a single political ad nor any of these Trump product ads.

    Joe Burrow break in

The main point was it's a comical situation to have your model hookup be the one calling police about a break in. Burrow says he tries to be very private. Obviously that's one of the reasons why. but secondary point is yes, she's attractive, but I was expecting way better from a top level NFL QB

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42920993/bengals-joe-burrow-says-privacy-violated-more-ways-one-home-break-mnf More hilarious because the break in was reported by a model he supposedly cheated on his girlfriend, possible fiance with.

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

Depending on the contract, he could be a bad signing, at 30 years old with already declining numbers almost across the board. However, he feels like the closest thing the Mets have to a captain, carrying the torch from David Wright. So for sentimental reasons, team chemistry, etc... I could see it. But Christian Walker would be a very similar player for what I would expect would be decently less money.... maybe close in AAV but you probably get Walker on a 3-4 year deal as opposed to Alonso on a 6-7 year deal. Still.... lets say they bring Alonso back. Mets fans would have to be giddy about a lineup of Lindor (ss) Soto (rf) Nimmo (lf) Alonso (1b) Vientos (3b) Marte (dh) Alvarez (c) McNeil / eventually Acuna (2b) Tyrone Taylor (cf)

If you also discount all other employee salaries, cost of operating the stadium, etc etc etc. I'm not saying you're entirely wrong. Big market teams are still going to be able to spend more than small market teams (We all know this without googling ticket costs and tv contracts) even if we pretend the owners are not dipping into their own funds. But it does happen, it's allowed and it's not good for the sport. Like I mentioned in another post, Hal Steinbrenner is only worth a few billion if he sells the Yankees. Steve Cohen is worth many billions regardless of the value of the Mets franchise. I also mentioned the Padres owner, Peter Seidler, who knew he was dying of cancer and spent big on a plethora of players. San Diego is not really a "big market team", but when you're dying and want to see your team win a world series... spend what you want. I think we are kind of seeing, now that he has passed, that team is not sustainable in that market. bottom line, there needs to be a cap and billionaire owners need to not be allowed to use play money (even if we want to say it's not happening all that much). The idea that it's allowed to happen is stupid enough. Franchises that are handed down from generation to generation will eventually not be able to hang with franchises purchased by billionaires or big money ownership groups.

    ***2025 EdEx Winter Meetings***

we joke that "it's all luck" but at least most people are drafting golfers based on odds, recent form, course fit, etc. Hole in one is pure luck. I have zero interest and im pretty sure one of my goons hit one last season . but the hole in one pot is a different game. This "h2h" among more than 2 people is just a side pot using the same edex format, right? I'm not downing on it. I've done side bets with people in the past for golf items or cash.
  8. Have they announced Griner as man of the year yet?

Out unless i'm missing something, this doesn't seem fundamentally different than raising the entry fee each week. you'll just have 4+ guys playing a side pot

New proposal for 2025. The Golden Golfer Rule. During any round, you can choose to have one of your golfers scores count twice!
  11. So fake or real tears and emotion, nothing trumps the subscription money... lets do 1,000 men!
  12. I'm just not sure he has the ceiling of London or Myers and I think all 3 have a similar 12ish point floor. If it's between London and Myers, London is the better talent... both teams are bad... but I think it's more likely Vegas is playing catch up. I could see a scenario where Atlanta scores on some Bijan runs and Myers is left racking up 8-80-1.
  13. Thats pretty much what is going to happen. I ended as the 4 seed in a division with three 9 win teams. the 5 seed is another of those teams. He will finish up with Josh Jacobs Sunday Night. I will have JJ and my choice of London or Myers at flex on MNF. Assuming Nabers is not in the discussion QB - Daniels RB - Kamara RB - Cook TE - McBride Ravens and Boswell

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

in 1991? Because of the Wilpons creating Bobby Bonilla day, people seem to forget that his initial stint with the Mets wasn't all that bad. Went to a pair of all-star games and had a fantastic season in 1993. Played pretty well in 95 before being traded. Initial Mets Bonilla was not the 1999 version that has become the running joke.

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

But the late 80's early 90's Yankees were a bit of a dumpster fire. New managers left and right, a last place finish in there. Feels like that was the start of George really pushing to spend and become what would be the evil empire, at the time. I think they signed a big TV deal with MSG around then.
  16. Lets go fellow FF Geeks. Different league, need to start 3 of the follow 5 WR's at WR/WR/Flex full PPR Justin Jefferson Courtland Sutton Drake London Jakobi Myers Malik Nabers Traded Jordan Mason and Tank Dell to the CMC owner earlier in the season for London. JJ is in there for sure. Strongly leaning Sutton. He's been money since Bo Nix broke out. Nabers just seems like a ho-hum 12-14 points playing from behind every week.... Leaning London with Cousins still starting but could pivot to Myers. Falcons and Raiders playing each other in one of the MNF games.

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

The team around him went to the NLCS last year, which was a year before they were even looking to compete. They were more competitive against the Dodgers than the Yankees were in the World Series. Pete Alonso will be gone but the rest of that team remains (aside from some shuffling of the starting rotation), including MVP runner up Francisco Lindor. They also likely expect little Acuna in the majors this year as well as a full season of Mark Vientos who was not initially expected to contribute last year but was one of their stars.

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

It's more than just that. In the past, teams like New York, Atlanta, LA, etc could spend more because they were in bigger markets , or had their own TV networks, etc. I think the bigger issue now is that owners are allowed to dip into their own money and these franchises are worth so much that the only people who can afford to buy them are guys like Steve Cohen. Look at San Diego. Their owner basically knew he was dying and went all in spending his own $$. Now that team is left with a bunch of contracts it could never afford in that market. Tatis, Boegarts, Machado, Darvish, ... formerly Soto, etc. etc. Hal Steinbrenner is really only worth what the Yankees are worth. Steve Cohen is worth 20+ Billion without the Mets. You get a salary cap and you not only help bridge the competitive gap between the big and small market teams but you eliminate the hedge fund guys and their play money.

    Juan Soto - 15 years 765 million

great signing. In the context of baseball (which needs a salary cap so billionaire hedge fund owners can't spend their own money, etc). So just in terms of baseball, this is huge for the Mets. In the past, big time players like this only went to the Mets at the ends of their careers. Soto is 26 years old and possibly the best positional only player in the game. It's also big for the Mets because it shows they are finally starting to "get it". If you're going to spend big, spend big on a positional stud who theoretically will play 150+ games. Don't spend big on a starting pitcher who will at best pitch 35 games and comes with a much higher risk of arm issues these days. It's funny to see the Yankees not be able to buy Soto and then give a huge contract to Max Fried. It's like the roles have reversed. I love what the Mets are doing when it comes to the rotation and free agents. 1-2 year deals for talented guys whose luster has worn off. Guys who have the stuff and are then motivated to parlay it into a bigger contract. Worked with Severino and Manaea last year. Lets see if it works with Frankie Montas this year.
  21. ... what politicians will? What hard questions did voted appointed democratic nominee Kamala Harris answer? (hint: none. When faced with a tough questions it was "well, we need to understand that... Trump bad")
  22. I listen to ESPN radio quite a bit and never hear a single Trump advertisement. Must be the N, liberal media market.
  23. I enjoy giving gifts... not a big fan of getting gifts. At least 50% of the time it's something I have no use for. I already know 2 female 'friends' are getting me gifts so now I am obligated to get them something. Which is cool on my end... but again... I hate getting gifts and feigning excitement Side note/rant. I get people dislike giving gift cards because its not personal but I don't need more golf balls... don't buy me clothes as there is a 99% chance I will not wear them. I'm not saying I have any style but I know what I like and what cuts fit me. Don't buy me a tech gadget unless you have some reason to believe I want it... for example when Ed's S.O. gives me the apple watch, i'll mail it to Ed because I don't want that . I don't wear watches. When I get people gifts I try to stick to consumable / experiential. Tickets to an event, cigars, beer/wine, candles or perfume for the ladies etc...
  24. Well, regardless... this is the Geek Balls thread Good luck this week @Cloaca du jour let's see who can move on to face Biff
