WhiteWonder replied to BiffTannen's topic in The Geek Club
i'll be in AC that day so may be checking in more sporadically. ed and fumble both should have my number and can text me when i'm up if im on the clock for too long -
wouldn't surprise me at all though if digby was rushing to get home (to change, make it to the funeral) and was driving carelessly.
-
classic digby. could have all been avoided but he needed to get a haircut before attending a funeral

i believe we have our winner in @Horseman unless Pacheco outscores Kelce by 22 the lions double focked Voltaire.

some examples you gave for low level tennis don't really amount to something more than an NBA player making sure he doesn't go over 30 points in a game. I kind of think you have to be naive to think NBA players, for example, are not having others bet on their behalf on an outcome they can decide themselves and it doesn't even need to impact the game. NFL greed is everywhere. From who get to air the games, the sponsorship rights, to their push overseas. I'm not saying I think the NFL is fixed or truly scripted but there are certain close games where It would not shock me one bit if there was outside influence to push a certain matchup or storyline.
-
so based on this, you really don't think there might be players in the NBA that purposely stay under their point or rebound total while still trying to win?, or NFL reception total or yards total? MLB pitcher strikeout totals etc etc etc? I mean it's less of a chance than at lower level athletics but it would be fairly easy to do. I don't think most games are fixed or scripted but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the machine that is the NFL has influence over close games to get certain teams the win if it improves ratings. NFL greed knows no end.

Dan Campbell or Zay Flowers? Campbell passing up points to keep going for it on 4th down on the road, gives all momentum to SF….allows the team to run it on 3rd to waste a timeout. Flowers taunting, reaches for a score and fumbles instead of going down and making it 1st and goal at the 1, hurts his hand in frustration at his own stupidity. who ya got?
-
Players try to make plays, yes... but some players can be aware of the situation. Like when you see a player seemingly unaware of where the sticks are, it drive you crazy. In that situation, after just having made a very stupid and selfish penalty, you have to protect the football because you should be aware that you've made a first down (i believe it was 2nd and 8 from the 9 yard line?) and that you can punch it in on the next play... the answer is Campbell. He has to be aware this isn't the regular season. but I found myself wondering what the hell was wrong with Zay Flowers that entire sequence.
-
but he's obviously not a dumb person. I feel like the inability to realize the situation but STILL do your full throttle style is a choke. I think of Phil at winged foot. A couple of very poor decisions by a guy who often thought with his balls/talent over the brain/situation.
-
I knew as soon as Taylor swift started dating Kelce that the chiefs chances of making the Super Bowl went WAY up despite trash receiver play almost all year. as far as fixing, it has to be a close game. Then you can start calling or not calling holds and PIs.
-
I knew it would be Campbell but Flowers was very bad. 1. not every player needs to shove a defender back down and then taunt them (while losing) 2. Yes, a lot of players would reach for the end zone but notice how lions backup TE didn’t do that at the end if their game? He pushed toward the end zone but didn’t expose the ball. After it happened already in these playoffs you have to be more situationally aware 3. then, you cut your hand up in frustration when you know you’re the top weapon for Lamar athleticism over smarts

DK banned me as I’ve outlined in other threads and I have no interest in DFS anyway even though I know we did a few last year or the year before.

Or they might be leading. You’re also talking about giving up field position versus a touchback after a kickoff plus all the momentum swings in favor of SF and the home crowd. -

Lions vomiting all over themselves moms spaghetti -
I know two who have onlyfans accounts. I assume the allure is that these are more regular women. So instead of some pronstar that's been in 5,000 scenes pretending to be the girl next door, you have legit girls next door. Pron stars are obviously also on the platform so I guess its a fandom thing and losers thinking they are getting a more behind the scenes look I can say that one of the women told me it's tons of foreign guys paying for subscriptions and making requests. Probably a lot of indian and arab dudes. She said foot fetish stuff is yooge.

what else would he have to do at 4am on a saturday morning?
-
that would really benefit the Patriots, if true. Also interesting that he doesn't have the top receiver in the draft going in the top 10

Also in the Lawrence vs. Fields debate or the "is Lawrence a franchise QB?" debate... I feel like Chicago's line rated out better than Jacksonvilles this season. Or at least it was pretty close. Bringing this up because I hear a lot how Fields doesn't have enough time so he has to take off and run / can't get through his progressions. Some of that may be true, but Lawrence wasn't exactly sitting behind the Philly o-line. When you watch Lawrence play, he shows all the traits you want in a franchise QB. Did he take a slight step back this season? sure... but what he has accomplished and shown through 3 season is light years ahead of Fields... and it's not like he was drafted to the Steelers or somewhere where we can say "well look at the well run organization he went to!"
-
bump.. he responds to every other post. glosses over this one
-
I look at Fields similarly to how I look at Zach Wilson, as a Jets fan. I never wanted them to draft him in the first place but i found myself defending him a lot this year for how he handled the whole situation and the maturity that he showed. Guy has a very good arm and enough mobility that you look for in todays QBs. His issue was partly maturity and partly being able to get through his progressions, which is not always easy behind a terrible offensive line. He can't run like Fields but is a better pocket passer, imo. I hope he goes somewhere and gets a chance as well.

2012 draft to 2023 draft is 11 seasons. I had to look up the year Luck was drafted but was pretty sure it wasn't over 12 years ago. Was closer than I remembered.
-
Andrew Luck in 2012.
-
I think he has.... and i'm not against Fields. I think he has some upside still. He might flourish with a well run organization. When a guy gets picked #1 overall and has to suffer through a rookie season with the train wreck that was Urban Meyer and comes out on the other side with a playoff win, I'll take it.
