    *** Happy Football Day 2023 ***

Sure, the season kicked off Thursday night, but today is Football Day! Who ya got? What ya got? Which games are you most interested in (besides your home/favorite team)? Where ya watching? What ya eating? etc... etc.... I've got several wagers and parlays going, mostly using FanDuels rampant week 1 profit boosts I am most interested in seeing how Green Bay plays in the new Love era. Also in the Chargers/Dolphins game, on paper it should be exciting. Having my brother over for a low key RedZone day. Kind of an annual tradition and we are in the same bigger money home league Usually I make chili for week 1 but we are doing various flavor wings this year. Fridge is stocked with Modelo and Angry Orchard

    Better flex WR pick?

    Dotson

D Waller ... now questionable, seriously, already ?

i've played in a decent amount of formats, including WR/TE or no TE but an extra flex. The more flexibility you add to starting lineups the less decisions need to be made during a draft or each week when setting a lineup. Makes it easier just to draft the highest scoring player or pass catcher in your projections without needing to worry about filling a TE spot. Some people find kickers and defenses annoying or "too random", I happen to think there is skill involved in drafting or streaming the right kicker based on dome/weather, being in a good enough offense but one that still stalls enough for field goal attempts, not having a coach that goes for it all the time on 4th and short instead of kicking that 50 yarder, etc. I am in some idp leagues and personally, I find idp scoring to be much more boring. Any warm bodied MLB or SS can make for a good start

D Waller ... now questionable, seriously, already ?

his injury history is probably the only reason he was available. He was playing in December and January of last season. Why would his career be over? Perhaps he started going too high in fantasy drafts but after Kelce, who then got injured, who is to be trusted at tight end? Andrews? Hockenson might be the 2nd "safest", certainly not George Kittle. and no other tight ends really have the upside of Waller after those other 4. Pitts has Ridder and a run heavy team after last seasons debacle. Freiermuth has promise.

i'm glad yare league doesn't require a tight end. why have any strategy or skill involved?

***2023 Fantasy Geek Balls League*** Season Thread

It's probably best just to leave it as it was entered. I think fixing it now would cause more complaints down the road. I only brought it up because my hope was to keep the league consistent from year to year (aside from proposed and voted changes), so it can remain this way moving forward.... Unfortunately I missed the way lager entered this one and didn't notice until I saw the goofy .54 score next to Herbivore's name. I don't need to be accused of crying or of possibly trying to change a rule to benefit my team in some way
  7. yeah but they also have a star player wanting to get paid at least in the range of Quinnen Williams money, possibly more. Chiefs probably have some cap space.. i think... but idk how willing they would be to do that
  8. I think its more arrogant to go for it, basically saying the other team can't stop you so why should we settle for 3. I am sure there are analytics dictating when to take 3 points in a given situation that even the most daring offensive minded coaches take into consideration. Not saying I agree with kicking the field goals or not but as far as coaching job, game script, time management, ... that final drive was just too baffling.
  9. I think we assumed you meant Evans because he's the one wanting a new deal in Tampa and wont be there next year. Godwin would certainly be more the type of receiver I think Mahomes needs.
  10. I mean, the difference there is stage of game. I don't personally agree with going for it on 4th and 20 when you have 3 timeouts plus the 2 minute warning but you're trying to get into at least field goal range to take the lead and I guess they wanted the ball in Mahomes hands rather than trust the defense. I was more baffled by the play calling on 3rd and 20 and then sticking to your guns after the false start and still going for it on 4th and 25. Plus the 4th and 25 play took so long it cost them the 2 minute warning stoppage.

Headers, Footers And Now Pop Up Videos?

to be fair, I downloaded an ad blocker back when this started and it didn't do anything. I assume it's working on the videos since I have not seen one but the header and footer remain. If you have to try different ad blockers or pick a specific one that works, I think it's fair for people to be miffed at the ads in general. I don't particularly care, but I get it.
  12. That was really bad man. It was my biggest takeaway from the game. There is no shame in losing to an up and coming Detroit team when you are missing your star tight end and defensive tackle but to lose it the way they did was awful. That whole final drive was head scratching. Look past Toney dropping that ball. How do you throw deep on 3rd and 20 when you are treating it like 4 down territory anyway? Crazy.
  13. He was garbage in fantasy because he's not going to get you 90-100 receptions to make up for a down TD year. The whole Bucs offense was a mess, I think it was the protection more than Brady being old. ...but to be fair, whenever I watched him, he didn't seem like the same Mike Evans. I wasn't sure if it was a skill decline or an issue between him and Brady and he was half-assing it or what. I guess on a new team/situation he could be back to what he was. I just think if the issue is lack of dependable targets in the event Kelce misses more time, you'd want someone like a Jarvis Landry. Sure handed, volume guy who moves the chains. (and significantly cheaper)

simple stuff. passing yards scoring was 1pt per 20 yards last year. When BLM made the ESPN league he put it in as 1pt per 25 yards. No one caught it (or at least said anything). I suggested we fix it to what it was last season and there were several people against that so it stays as is.
  15. I’d seriously go after Landry if I was them. I believe he is a free agent
  16. Pay up for mike evans? No thanks
  17. Who are the best available unsigned receivers? Backs like Hunt and Fournette are out there who could help out a veteran team with a great QB but KC’s issue is going to be reliable pass catchers if Kelce misses more games. Probably not much out there the way the current NFL landscape is. Time to give Jarvis Landry a call?

Give me your 14 playoff teams

The funny thing is, yes they added some pieces but they lost some pieces as well. If you point to David Montgomery, I feel like bears fans would say hes not a big loss, Herbert is better, they picked up Foreman, etc... but most everyone else feels like he was a tremendous add for Detroit. Edmunds and Edwards are solid linebackers and DJ Moore will be the best receiver Fields has had... but I don't think the team makes a big leap unless Fields makes a very big leap as a passer and runs the ball a bit less to avoid injury.
  19. I turned on ESPN radio on the way to meet up with some people for the chiefs-lions and they said the US Open was still delayed due to environmental protesters (and quickly moved on to breaking Joe burrow contract), I just shook my head.

I feel like telling someone to get off a high horse or calling them dummy is usually seen as an insult as well. Could be wrong, but I appreciate you pointing out my hypocrisy, guy.

Okay, I take it back. Clearly, you are that obtuse. It's not at all about having one's shit together. Your scenario with FBG is funny, laughable and I completely agree. If I was saying "Hey I drafted Patrick Mahomes thinking passing yards were worth more! Can we change the scoring?" Then you might have a leg to stand on. All I did was point out a mistake in the scoring settings from 2022 to 2023 that was not a voted on or even suggested change. A mistake you claim to have noticed, but said nothing about. I'm not sure why you feel the need to act like its crazy to even suggest fixing that and then tell someone that they are the ones on a high horse

this is all VERY insulting. Who the hell is crying? If you can't handle discussion on a subject, why continue to engage? Since multiple people objected, didn't I already say that it would NOT be changed? Just because I don't agree with the premise that an incorrect scoring setting can't be fixed doesn't mean you can just default to claims that I am crying about it

Take a long look in the mirror. I never once insulted you. Never said you insulted me... but is "chirps about knowing league rules" some kind of insult versus the above quote? I was speaking directly to your response / attitude at the suggestion of fixing a stat scoring mistake. Mr "fantasy 101" is talking about high horses
