Supreme Court considers Biden’s student loan debt relief plan

I have zero faith in anyone who thinks student loan forgiveness was the proper way to tackle the true issue or that this was anything more than a blatant vote grab.

I think it’s dumb because who cares if you have the highest scoring player in a given week? Your team could otherwise be awful. at least highest scoring team for the week is rewarding the best team/owner that week. I don’t like either, I’d rather have more $ in the podium payouts for end of season but I’m much more open to weekly high team.

ESPN, $50 works for me again I’m not for it but if you guys want to vote on allocating small amounts for weekly high scores, go for it. I prefer 300-200-100 or 350–150-100

Moving to espn won’t cost anything I’m not a fan of paying weekly high score or overall high score. Who cares, imho. This is traditional FF, not give everyone a prize in case they have a bad playoff week and get eliminated. id be in favor of increasing the entry fee a bit and thus increasing payouts for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. if I remember @OldMaid is currently first alternate if we have to replace anyone

Stock Market bubble - will crash

whats more shocking is that despite strong tailwinds in 2021 from covid recovery, the market under Joe managed to take it on the chin from the 2nd half of 2021 through roughly the end of 2022.

as the resident board finance minor, I would expect you to have the common sense to realize the post you are quoting was followed by a significant market downturn at the time. I'm also guessing you chose today to quote it because the market has been doing well... which is not all that uncommon as presidential terms move closer to an election year.

What’s the housing market like in your area?

good lord. A similar condo in my area would be 350-400k. A similar house even 5 years ago would have been 850+

They were also earning crazy high rates on CD's and regular bank accounts. When you got your 2.5% mortgage interest rate, what were savings account and CD rates sitting at? 1%?

What’s the housing market like in your area?

There is more to it than that. The transferring of generational wealth does not need to depend on someone failing to reach life expectancy. My mother's parents were on the older side when she was born, but my grandfather lived to 94... he sold his house and downsized in his mid 80's. He split most of his proceeds between his 4 children and that money was used by my parents to pay off the remainder of their mortgage. My parents are in their late 60's and don't currently have any plans to sell, but based on not having a mortgage for quite a while now, they were in a position to lend me some money to help with the down payment on my condo. I paid them back, but the generational wealth trickle down put them in a position to help me at the time, while alive I don't disagree with you on the pace of home prices being a bit out of control, but the wealth a family can build through real estate more than bridges the gap compared to income increases.

Home prices are crazy BUT there are different ways to look at it. Families have been building generational wealth through home ownership for quite a while now. Will you not be leaving anything for your children? My grandparents bought their houses in the 40's and 50's, they made a fortune on those investments. That fortune directly benefited my parents (and their siblings). My parents bought their homes in the 80's. They have similarly increased the family wealth because of those investments.

What’s the housing market like in your area?

There won't be. That happened because bank and lenders were giving loans to anyone and everyone. They are now under much more scrutiny and much stricter lending practices. I'm sure the pressure to build a portfolio of loans still leads to some bad mortgages but for the most part, enough checks and balances are in place to avoid a repeat of 2008

where is that idiot who was arguing with me about the loan forgiveness "b b b but, people are striving to achieve home ownership!".... sure, so lets let them take out loans they know they can't afford, we can forgive the debt later!
  15. regardless of your political leanings, I feel like you have to be just stubborn for the sake of being stubborn to act as if climate change/global warming doesn't actually exist. I'm not calling it doomsday but at least be real about it. Just because it's not an end of the world level problem doesn't mean it's not actually happening and doesn't mean it won't or can't get worse. As someone who has lived in the northeast their entire life, seasons no longer feel like defined seasons. Summerish temperatures linger into late october, winters are nowhere near as harsh as they were when I was growing up, and yet the cooler temps from winter linger into June. Snow storms? I remember winters with multiple big snow storms / blizzards. For the past 10-15 years, it seems like a couple inches of snow is now what passes for a storm. I'd be shocked if it snowed more than twice in my area this year. I don't listen to or read stuff from climate change freaks but it's not hard to see that the weather is pretty different now than it was in the 90's or early 2000's.

    2023 Draft and Season Discussion

the Yankees seem confident it wont end his season. He will probably be back, i'm just not shocked. Guy was always injured prior to like 2021. He had 2 seasons of good health and one of them was when he bet on himself for a gigantic payday. . Yes, I'm a Yankee hater but I don't have anything against Judge.... actually funny to watch the Yankees screw themselves into a no win situation after the season he had in 2022.

Like a lot of you, I had to fortify pitching. Losing Jeffrey Springs and Drew Rasmussen for the year was a big blow to my top end SPs and my depth. Especially Springs, who cost a 3rd round pick, while I get to watch Eovaldi be dominant and Alex Cobb be pretty good too. McClanahan is having back issues and i'd prefer the Rays not rush him back for real life purposes. Glasnow recently had cramping issues too. Gallen has been amazing for me and Blake Snell has been money for the past month and a half but I feel like i'm losing SPs left and right. Adding Joe Ryan means that even with my losses, I now sit with: Gallen, Snell, Morton, Ryan, McClanahan (15 day IL), Eflin, Glasnow, Bradley and Chirinos I feel pretty good with that rotation Adding Duran to Fairbanks should offset the fact that Floro is no longer closing games and Alvarado, when not on the IL, seems like he may have fully lost that role to Kimbrel. I should have enough holds between Adam, Poche, Floro and Alvarado once he comes back. Plus Kevin Kelly of the Rays. Offensively, like mentioned before, my biggest weakness is singles. Luis Arraez would have helped and I could have played him at 1st or 2nd. I may kick myself for not adding any more offense if the Rays offense as a whole takes a nose dive. Aside from J-Rod and Willy Adames, I am totally reliant on the depth and current production of the Rays offense (minus Randy Land).

    2023 Draft and Season Discussion

There were definitely some hitters I considered... but even without the same level of star power as some other teams, the Rays are doing a great job hitting home runs, scoring and stealing bases this year. when I look at the offensive categories, singles are where my team struggles. Arraez was tempting, but he really only contributes in 1 category in this format. Maybe doubles as well.... It seemed more important to fortify my bullpen considering I lost Boxberger early on, Floro was only temporarily the closer in Miami, Fairbanks has been on and off the IL, I messed up and didn't add Nick Anderson quick enough after rosters were loaded, and the Rays pen has not exactly been as stellar as previous seasons. Duran should help in Saves, as well as helping a tad with ERA, WHIP and K's from the RP position.
