The original XFL was supposed to be a competitive product to the NFL. It failed because it was gimmicky (although it gave us sky cam) but probably the biggest reason was they had no talent. Only a handful of XFL guys went on to make any sort of NFL impact. LIV doesn’t have that problem as it continues to acquire top level talent that golf fans care about. It has to be careful not to be too gimmicky (3 rounds, shotgun starts, teams, etc) but it’s not like we are talking strippers in the stands. If the team aspect ever achieves that soccer club feel that I think they are going after, look out.

I think 10 is a nice even number
-
You’ll start to notice as certain big names lose their eligibility for certain majors. A lot of the big name LIV guys have lifelong masters exemptions or won a major recently though. LIV gains traction by doing what any new league does (last year was its first full season)… tweak to try and increase interest. but more importantly, buying talent. Naysayers were holding tight to the washed up veteran narrative but then guys like Dustin, Cam Smith and Niemann jumped ship. Now Rahm. Add in guys who still have a following either here or overseas like Phil, Bubba, Reed, Sergio, Oosthuizen etc and the “talent” gap is quickly dwindling.
-
No idea I just tossed out event names I enjoy watching and are usually popular. Guess they did axe it.
-
yes and no. Because of no OWGR points, and expiring exemptions, there are certain LIV golfers who can't or soon wont be able to play in every or any major. Also there are other big time events that LIV guys can't currently play in or qualify for on their own like the Players, Match Play, Ryder Cup. Two of those are PGA Tour sanctioned events obviously but they lose appeal because of the divide. As i've mostly said all along, i'd rather none of this happened but the people acting like the PGA and the players who blindly stuck with the PGA are some sort of saints are oblivious.

i have not paid too much attention to it lately but didn't jay boy make a deal with saudi/liv anyway? Gotta think at some point this all just becomes one golf league again.

I picked Finau and Harman. I think i'm still alive -
Does he have any shot for MVP? the usual QB suspects are all mostly underperforming or injured
-
I'm not big on paying up for someone after a career year of stats and health he was 1-3 overall this year so.... you'd only zag if you thought injuries were going to catch up

***OFFICIAL Super Bowl LVII Rematch Eagles @ Chiefs***
WhiteWonder replied to cmh6476's topic in The Geek Club
didn't get to read any of this thread but have a question for @cmh6476 and any other chiefs fans Why is Jerrick McKinnon not being utilized more in the pass game? This one is boggling my mind. This chiefs offense is underperforming big time from what we are used to and from last year, it seems. Who are they really missing from last year? JuJu? . It's not an 0-line issue, it's not a rash of injuries in the receiver room, it's not a lack of run game, it's not Mahomes dealing with anything nagging.... it's seems to be the dropsies. Mckinnon had 71 targets last season. He has 26 through 10 games this season. 4.1 to 2.6 per game is a sizeable dropoff for a guy who was very effective in the offense last season from week 8 or 9 onward. And in that second half of 2022, he was averaging more like 5.5 targets per game. Why would you not involve him more, especially when your receivers are not playing reliable football? -

If anyone sees bostonlager, congratulate him on his last minute win. I hope it stays at .2 margin so I can blame my last minute swap of njoku for Thomas… or starting the wrong QB yet again -
I love these threads, not because I care about voltaires rankings but because the comments are always fun. Depending on what angle you want to choose, you can poke holes in every team.

Who has the better pro career in their respective sport, following in their father’s footsteps? Each dad is in the convo for GOAT Bronny is 19 and likely to be drafted in 2024 Charlie is 14 and likely has several years before PGA(saudi) Tour consideration
-
I think it’s interesting because their fathers are at least on the Mount Rushmore of their respective sports. never thought about Sanders but I think he’s more a product of Deions coaching hoopla. Little John is interesting and JD is a legend but also a flame out.

Charlie Woods (14) wins 1st of many (team) High School Golf Championships
WhiteWonder replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I would also venture to guess that most of the kids playing are not at their adult bodies. again I’m not saying he isn’t a very talented golfer. It’s more about with how much we hear about him and how much he has at his disposal, you’d think he was dominating junior golf and he’s not even beating kids his own age in just Florida let alone the US. He was getting beat in the notah begay tournaments too in his age group. im not even against Charlie. I’ve softened on Tiger since he became less of a d bag… he had not much choice… but he’s become likable the past few years. I just don’t see it. If you’re Tigers son AND you’re clearly trying to follow in his footsteps and dedicate your life to golf, you’re not the second coming at this point. -

Charlie Woods (14) wins 1st of many (team) High School Golf Championships
WhiteWonder replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
young Tom Morris Name a great golfer who had a son who was deemed a great golfer at all, let alone by like 10 years old. Haas became a successful pro. Kevin Stadler made it to a degree, but I get your point So is Charlie Woods a great golfer in your opinion? Based on his results in Notah Be Gays golf tour, and this HS stuff, I’m not sure he’s on tour pro trajectory other than it being forced… sponsor exemptions out the arse when the time comes -
Charlie Woods (14) wins 1st of many (team) High School Golf Championships
WhiteWonder replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
im sure they were older than Charlie who is a freshman? but we are still dealing with high school kids here. one's dad is Tiger Woods and has already been anointed the next coming. Looks like charlie is 14, I'm assuming the oldest kids were 17 unless they had very early birthdays. When your dad is possibly the greatest golfer of all time and he spends tons of time with you (because he's always injured and not chasing poon as much ) and your swing is supposedly just like his, and you have access to any resource in the golf world and you're not already beating these other kids? Then who cares? He's obviously a fantastic golfer and the media is going to do what the media does but c'mon let's pump the brakes a bit. It's worse than Bronny James, high school's 30 something ranked player. At least he would likely be drafted regardless of his father. -
