Sweat to Bears / Chase to 49ers

I mean, I'm sure thats the plan but I am also sure it's a pretty big gamble to make with a 2nd (early) round pick. I get the feeling they would have to really overpay compared to other teams to convince him to sign to that "rebuild"... or tag him which would feel like a waste of $ on their part and would probably not sit well. Just seems like the state this franchise is in, they would be better off keeping that pick and drafting someone they can control for 4 seasons.

Not calling Rex a great coach but one thing he was great at was galvanizing his players. With the exception of cancerous Holmes, those guys would go to war for him. He was also a great defensive mind. I really miss him but much of that has to do with the garbage we hired after his tenure. Todd Bowles, Adam Gase . Saleh strikes me as the JAG version of a head coach. Not awful but I also don't really know what he's bringing to the table. As the first muslim coach in NFL history, he may be a classic case of diversity.

    Bears get Sweat

wait, you have info on this? He said he will take an extension? Is there some kind of link or something where he said yes? It's a complete guessing game by us.... but what we do know is that there will be a bunch of teams interested in the services of a good to great pass rusher. There will be plenty of suitors. Chicago has no advantage aside from the ability to tag him (which won't make him happy) and as was already pointed out, just throws gas on the fire spending up for a year of production rather than using that pick on a player they can control for 4+ years since they are rebuilding and all. maybe he signs with Chicago... good for the Bears if he does. It's still a very risky move for a rebuilding team to more or less gamble a high 2nd round pick

Sweat to Bears / Chase to 49ers

thanks. I meant here though. there's not a lot of crossover between the two forums anymore. Thats what happens when it's just a bunch of petulant children like axe elf and jkroh I do miss the days where I exclusively posted at the mange bored and you could count on good discussion and info. These days I think you are more likely to get decent insight over here as long as politics can stay out of the sports threads.

My 2023 NFL Power Rankings Week 9

These Jets remind me so much of the Rex era Jets. Those Rex Jets had a great secondary headlined by the best CB in football, a great run game Thomas Jones > LT/Shonn Greene behind Nick/Brick and company. Edwards and Holmes in the pass game.... and both with young, immature QBs under center. Aside from Rex having a much better offensive line and Saleh having a much better defensive line (Rex's pass rush was dependent on lockdown coverage in the secondary, Saleh has the talent to generate a pass rush regardless) but I would take Rex at HC all day.

My 2023 NFL Power Rankings Week 9

I was just curious. I don't care about weekly rankings in any format. I'd probably have the same top 10 as voltaire minus seattle and plus buffalo. I don't agree with the order, but probably with the tier. I think if I were basing on potential to win the super bowl, I would also factor in some other things like playoff experience, coaching, etc and probably a little less emphasis on what I think might be a favorable schedule. Jacksonville, for example, would make my top 10 because of the experience gained last year, Doug Pederson and what I feel is a very solid team regardless. Chargers are annual underachievers... and as much as I love our defense, I could take or leave Saleh as HC and would not have the Jets in my top 10. I am even someone who has been happy with Zach Wilson. I think he's made some big steps mentally (maturity wise and decision making) and embraced his expected role. He got thrust into a tough spot and has responded reasonably well given that the plan was to push the reset button and give him a chance to sit and learn. if I had to 1. KC 2. Cincy 3. San Fran 4. Philly 5. Buffalo 6. Jacksonville 7. Detroit 8. Miami 9. Baltimore 10. Dallas

who would you be replacing them with? I would move Seattle out of the top 10 and Buffalo moves up but you want 2 more out of his top 10 and replaced with who? Cleveland?

I think there are very few really good coaches in the NFL. Time and time again we see HCs and OCs get major credit for succeeding with Hall of Fame QBs leading their teams.

Getting a 2 and 5 for a guy who has had like 10 sacks total since his big season and is a free agent next year is by far the best thing the Giants will do all season

    * Seattle is way too high. Could have easily lost to Cleveland at home. Beat the likes of the Panthers, Giants and Cardinals while losing to the Rams and Bengals. The only good win they have to hang their hat on is overtime at Detroit. i'd move them down to 11 but as part of the tier below.

    Cousins Carted Off - Achilles

you're never going to see a 3-4 team (or any team really) pulling their starting QB with a 14 point lead, unless as other mentioned it's a meaningless week 18 game which means hes probably playing a quarter or not at all anyway.

    ***Wagering thread***

i mainly use FD and don't even know what their parlay hub is. I generally ignore their suggested parlays and other specials unless one really catches my eye like yesterday.

    United Airlines

And I do the same thing you do but technically in terms of plane etiquette it's not really the right move. You could also say that those people in the rows in front of you should be prepared to exit in a more timely manner (assuming no issues) but it's hard to time / determine when you are really clear to pass them... and honestly, someone in the middle or window seat in a row in front of you hasn't even had a chance to step out into the aisle and get their carry on. Basically, do what you're saying but be prepared that if the guy 4-5 rows in front of you finishes zipping up has backpack and turns into the aisle and smashes into you, it's your bad.

    ***Wagering thread***

didn't play much yesterday. Threw a last second parlay together with Minny ML, Philly -6.5, Breece Hall anytime TD and....... Kansas City -6.5 oh and fanduel had an even money prop that hit Burrow 200+ pass yards and either CMC or Chase to score.

    United Airlines

what he's saying is correct. Doesn't mean you need to wait , but technically you should wait for each row in front of you to exit (unless they are purposely remaining seated) Since I always sit in the aisle, and I put anything i've taken out back in my personal bag before we even land, I am always ready to go. No one should be passing me from behind, so I have my carryon in front of me in the aisle and my backpack on. If, like you said, the aisle is clear and there are 4-5 rows in front of me taking their sweet time to gather belongings, I am swiftly walking past them. If I got stuck in a middle seat, i'm SOL unless the aisle person pulls the same move.

Limiting gate checked bags is completely different and again, still does not address the larger problem of allowing way too big carry on bags to be brought on board. If they plan to increase the allowed carry on size, then increasing the size of the bins won't really make a difference and if they don't plan to increase the allowed size then they are just fixing an issue that they create in the first place.
  21. WhiteWonder

    United Airlines

you're still completely missing my point. That picture is a great illustration IF people follow the airline's guideline for carryon size. Most people do not (especially for international travel). So when people have carryon luggage that is 5+ inches taller than guidelines, how will it fit in that picture above so that the bin can be closed? Since the airlines are allowing these bags on board, the flight attendants then do what they must to fit the bag which often means flat or on its side but length wise rather than wheels first. I'm all for larger overhead bins but the reality is that its only helping a problem that the airlines could address by doing a bit better job policing oversized carry-ons.
  22. WhiteWonder

    United Airlines

that's on you. You should have told him you paid for both seats but your friend or significant other had an emergency, go back to his seat, thanks. people were doing that on my half full NY to Toronto flight. earlier this year I was on a flight from madrid to germany, like 6 am. maybe 25% full. I had the whole row to myself but when I checked in to get my boarding pass (I had to get a physical one for some reason) they made me check my carry on because they felt my backpack was too big to be a personal item. They didn't charge me but I thought it was funny seeing as how no one was on the plane.
  23. WhiteWonder

    United Airlines

And? People put bags in wheels first, sideways, whatever way they can. Doesn't change the fact that some people are bringing on bags that are 5 inches taller and wider than a carryon is supposed to be and they are being allowed to do it. every 2-3 people doing that is potentially costing enough space for one more legit sized carry on.
  24. WhiteWonder

    United Airlines

but I would venture to guess that 8/10 people are boarding with a bag that is either somewhat or significantly over the airlines listed dimensions. I've been guilty of it. So yeah, it's great if they add to current bin capacity but current bin capacity is often being taken up by bags that should be checked (and paid for).

    United Airlines

It's a service industry, yes, but I listed a bunch of perks you are also paying for. Of course, as it's set up now, priority boarding is also one of those perks. I'm just suggesting that for the overall experience, maybe it doesn't need to be. When I board with an earlier group, I actually find it annoying to sit in my aisle seat and deal with the additional people boarding, knocking into everyone with their too big carryon desperately looking for compartment space, then being told by flight attendants there is space in another section of the plane so they squeeze past other people trying to board.... partially the flight crew / airlines fault but point is, as I saw someone else mention earlier.... i'd rather be towards the end of boarding unless i'm flying first class.
