So here is the thing. While I am not head over heels for Aaron Glenn, I do not get why anyone cares about McCarthy. Even talking heads wondering why the Jets didn't interview him... What did McCarthy do in his tenure in Dallas, with lots of talent to work with, that would make him the right guy? If you're the Jets and you plan to keep Rodgers and Adams, you're all in again and you're hoping Rodgers plays like he did down the stretch for a full season rather than taking some time to shake off the rust. You're hoping Woody stops meddling so you don't have your DC have to take over HC duties in week 6. Robert Saleh was not good, but had they kept him and remained stable, with Ulbrich sticking to the defense... I think the Jets would have been a 9 win team. But most importantly, you need to be looking at the future which means drafting a young QB or allowing Jordan Travis to be the guy to sit and learn. McCarthy doesn't seem like the guy for that Pete Carroll? Sure, sign me up. I would prefer someone experienced. Kingsbury would have made more sense... but the Jets seem to be in love with the idea of a former Jet who really wanted the job. Honestly they should have hired Rex because what they need is simply someone who can change the culture, galvanize the team, command the players respect and not back down to ownership. No one looks at Dan Campbell and says he is an offensive or even an X's and O's guru...

I think with the survivor pool, I never noticed originally and even after noticing have still participated because the prize pool is always between 350-400K. But the guy running it also participates and gives himself a chance to win, on top of the money he's taking to run it. I always kind of felt like if you need to take money to run something then you should not be allowed to participate... and of course for smaller things you really shouldn't be taking any money to begin with. If I were you I would start your own pool with nothing taken off the top and reach out to everyone in his pool to let them know

I'm involved in an annual survivor pool with a ton of entrants and a huge pot. It's $50 per entry and I generally do 2. You'll see people with 20+. First few years doing it, I never thought much about if the guy was taking a cut. One of the years I must have seen one of his e-mails and wound up realizing he was giving himself a really nice side salary and claiming it was to cover the hosting fees at runyourpool.com and costs associated with running a pool of this size. Pretty sure it's something close to 30 grand he was keeping. I understand it's an undertaking to collect money from people, even if it is mostly being sent by PP or Venmo, and he has to cross check it with each entry on the site to know which to eliminate after week 1 for non payment but come on now....

Agree to disagree. I do agree that we will never know how much is man vs natural but I simply don’t think it’s 0 man. It feels like an almost ridiculous thing to say. How impactful man is… certainly debatable. Could be such a small impact. All I’m saying is, it’s there.

Absolutely. I definitely believe that monumental events we have no control over could happen and completely dwarf any man made impact. Part of the reason why our own impact doesn’t concern me like it seems to concern certain people. Just saying that I’m also not one of those who dismisses human impact

Glad you chimed in on this. I don't think golf had most everything right. I mean, as fans... prior to LIV... it may have seemed that way. But clearly there were issues with the way the PGA was running things, as a golf monopoly of sorts and how it was treating it's players, including it's stars. I don't think LIV happens otherwise. And once it did, we saw the curtain pulled back a bit on the PGA. All the reactionary moves and purse increases which they claimed they didn't have. I also prefer 4 rounds of golf with a cut. But I do still support the idea that a new tour like LIV can be valid with just 3 rounds and no cut... provided it has some sort of relegation system. I fully believe they should earn world ranking points. ... and I do think, of all their gimmicks, that there might be a place for team or "club" golf within the sport. I don't think its surprising that this is the main element TGL copied.

I know this is a bait thread but there is no doubt in my mind that the concept of global warming is real. Frankly, I think you have to be pretty dumb to not acknowledge it's existence. Weather in my NYC suburbs is nothing like what it was 20 years ago. The winters are far more benign, in general. Spring also seems to not really exist and Fall is barely there either. It's impossible for increased human activity and advancement to not impact the environment. To be fair, snow in florida, or a 75 degree day in New York in February, etc, etc could all be argued as extreme weather that supports climate change. That said, it's not close to the doomsday issue liberals want to make it out to be.

not really going out on a limb with that prediction. It would be impossible to deport every illegal and even if you did, you would never stop new ones from finding their way in. Rational people realize this and are able to simply recognize that Trump is being bombastic for the sake of driving home the point that illegal immigration is indeed hurting the country and needs to be curtailed. Tightening up the border, adding extra security, deporting criminals etc is a perfectly great start / outcome as far as i'm concerned. Of course there will be finger pointing. It's what every politician does

Speaking for myself, I have not posted anything about Lamar Jacksons intellect. I would also venture to guess that most of the posts in this thread are not even about Lamar Jackson specifically. You're failing to realize that you had 1 poster enter this thread and immediately cry racism (followed by another usual suspect doing the same) and much of the following 4-5 pages of posts are a discussion on if Edjr was being racist / why pointing out something about a person doesn't automatically equal racism / etc etc etc. rather than people piling on Lamar Jackson. I didn't even watch any of the posted clips, for example. My interest in this topic was to discuss why starting a thread about someone who happens to be black, makes the poster racist, which I find absolutely ridiculous. There is no "sounding like you". I would venture to guess that we have some people at the geek club who sound like uneducated hicks. and I know there are some pretty dumb ones. Weepaws can barely type coherent english sentences, for example. No one would ever call me racist for pointing that out.... But if I started a post calling you dumb, the resident race baiters would be right there calling me a racist.
