So Babbit Was Murdered After All...
WhiteWonder replied to EternalShinyAndChrome's topic in The Geek Club
Admittedly, I kind of don't get involved much with this stuff because on one hand, the entire events of that day should have never happened... but on the other hand, the left have painted the events as MUCH bigger than they actually were. Shit, just read "Killing of Ashli Babbitt" on wikipedia and you can tell which side wrote it. The bombastic language used is typical of how the left want/need that day to be remembered. so being that I have not been obsessed with it for the past 4+ years, I do have some questions such as... how many weapons did she have on her when she crawled through that window in order for that shooting to "potentially save members of Congress and staff from serious injury and possible death" where a bullet was the best option? -

I mean, I believe there are still some states that don't have full castle doctrine and still incorporate a duty to retreat first, if possible. but also, whose house was this? -

So journalism was… fake news? -
Oh yeah, and i've also been without Josh Lowe all season who was supposed to team with Junior Caminero, Yandy Diaz and my supplemental picks of Corbin Carroll and Oneil Cruz to form a somewhat competitive offense.

Like a few others on the forum, he can't help it. I don't know what you're selling on ebay but I do doubt that its ALL ebay sales. People on ether side are concerned about the near term economy. A lot of times when this happens, we see people avoiding big luxury purchases... like cars for example, but we often see an uptick in small luxury purchases. Think hand bags for the women and libs . Overpriced coffees, lots of things. The idea behind it is that people view those smaller luxury items as a needed treat for themselves during stressful / uncertain times. Individually, they won't break the bank and bring that temporary serotonin boost. Practically speaking the spending is often much worse since the boost in happiness and usefulness of those purchases is much more fleeting and can quickly add up to and surpass the cost of that larger luxury item. I would bet people are still buying pre owned Jordans, the crazy Labubu things my nieces are obsessed with, designer bags, etc.. If you were reselling that kind of stuff you're probably loving it right now.

Shane McClanahan Zach Eflin Blake Snell Tyler Glasnow Aaron Civale None are done for the season, but what was supposed to be my teams strength has taken quite a few hits. Considering I still have the full Tampa rotation plus Nathan Eovaldi and Jeffrey Springs and did NOT use a supplemental pick on SP for the first time I can recall, I salivate at the thought of an entirely healthy rotation for 'Trouble at the Trop"

What’s the exercise? When I saw the thread title I assumed it was going to be posters making projections and updating them as the draft approaches but it’s just going to be you updating us on draftbuzz? As for number of first round QBs, the teams that immediately jump to mind include Indy, Pittsburgh, Cleveland if Shadeur doesn’t prove to be above average, Vegas and Seattle who are both rolling with middling veterans / guys with 1 good season and LA Rams will need an heir to Stafford. That’s 6 potentially. I would love to add the Jets to that list but I fear they will trick themselves into believing Fields is a franchise guy. The Giants could be interesting if they have a bad season and top 5 pick again. Unless Dart looks the part, a new regime may opt for their own franchise guy.

That's fine. Thanks for letting us know as dropping Ian Anderson would have made *Nick Anderson fair game for other teams without the explanation. which is my fault for not checking all placeholders... there were just so many of them and I got lazy I'm surprised anyone is still holding onto a placeholder to be honest.

Race car drive Katherine Legge getting death threats.

Yeah, I feel like all "athletes" should be able to handle criticism. I think it's still fairly gross when "grown ass men" as some people are fond of saying, hide behind a screen telling someone to kill themselves, etc. But I also feel like the easiest way to combat that is to stay off social media and ignore pathetic people. -

like I said, I don't follow it closely. I vaguely remember when she started and I would assume that was more during the time period where facebook was cool but before twitter/X, IG, tiktok, etc. edit: apparently she started in 2011? So I am right in regard to facebook still being cool.... although twitter and IG were around, I don't think they were nearly as popular yet. -
this should be good

i don't follow nascar very closely but how do we know previous female drivers didn't receive death threats? I would also imagine that internet tough guys and bullying is more prevalent now with the social media landscape than it was back in Danica Patricks era. -

Why don't women have their own driving in a circle league? Tracks could be set up in mall parking lots across the country.... -

what comment and why would anyone whine about that when Obama had an annual spectacle with his march madness bracket? -
both of those tackles actually had worse PBWR's than Evan Neal... depth is depth but.... PFF had them ranked 29th. If the only improvement is getting Thomas back from injury, i'd be concerned.

Naz Reid doesn't play like the type of big they need. But I'm sure they will address the center issue. I think they keep Reeves though -
I literally said I don't care at all. I was explaining it to maxipad. Yes, Wayne Chrebet was better than Keyshawn

Philly will be Philly, Washington isn't going anywhere... but Dallas is trending down and the Giants have nowhere to trend but up. Daboll and Schoen were out of excuses already but there are absolutely no excuses this year. Any excuse you could make for them would just be a repeat of the last few seasons. Russell Wilson should, if nothing else, provide veteran leadership. Or you could pivot to Jameis who, if nothing else, can sling it and keep guys like Nabers happy. "Daboll never had his own QB to develop!" (as if he really is responsible for Josh Allen)... well you traded up for Dart. The Giants should have a good defense front and pass rush, a stud WR, a solid RB... the real question is what have the Giants done to address their putrid offensive line?
-
Ron Artest, whoevers alias that is, is kind of slow in general but HT did write ", cuz you know" which very clearly means "because he's a white RB" and then when asked about it deflected to liking or not liking the pick. I couldn't care less but obvious is obvious.

You'd like to think that but the teams drafting up top are usually drafting up there for a reason. It wouldn't shock me at all if a franchise like Jacksonville was willing to give up what they gave up, in part because of the eyeballs, ticket sales, jersey sales etc that a unicorn like Travis Hunter will bring at the onset. He may not wind up being the best rookie WR or the best rookie DB but he will be almost a lock to be the most popular rookie. And of course he's an immense talent, not just a gimmick. I also think your example of the tackle at 2 is perfectly reasonable but that may just be the recent Jets on my mind, signing 2 veteran tackles and still drafting a top LT in 2024 knowing he would start the season on the bench. It's situational. I think teams should have a good idea of a rookies long term position but be flexible as they adjust to the NFL. Fashanu was drafted to be the franchise LT but he got his first starts at RT, eventually LT and even started at RG.
-
I would want them to see if he has a bigger impact at WR or DB, although common sense tells you if he's just as good at either position, he will have the bigger impact as a receiver. With the NFL being skewed to offense and top WRs remaining game changers for longer in their careers, generally speaking. But as others have pointed out, this is the NFL not college. We don't even know yet if he is elite at both or even either position. The level of competition is so elevated, the idea that he's going to really be a true 2 way player is going to be tough to manifest. I think it's more likely he gets a package of plays on offense of defense
